Heres one of the reasons:
Recently there was a murder of some palestinian citizens in Israel. Israel is trying to figure out whodunit.
Same thing happened in Palestine: No fucks given.
I may be biased due to being jewish, but fuck Palestine and the Hamas.
Not to mention the fact that Israel is a world leader in technology while Palestine's rockets are old technology at best, and not a single one landed in a populated area in Israel, all of them either being destroyed by Israel's anti-missile defenses or ending up in no-mans land. Lets face it, Israel has something to contribute to the world. Palestine(More specifically, it's government and the Hamas) has nothing but hate to contribute.
Fuck that whole area. It's so much of a mess that anyone who takes a side at this point does so completely out of personal bias, not out of any sort of logical process, considering both sides are so utterly soaked in innocent blood that this is just a battle of lesser evils. Whoever win, nothing is resolved unless it ends in genocide, and nobody wants that I would assume.

For all the disgusting shit they do, Hamas do actually like, you know, build hospitals and feed the poor and shit. They're not pure evil. They're a political manifestation of a sick society (sick as in ill). Guerilla armies cannot exist among an uncooperative population; Hamas has power because for better or worse, and for whatever reason, the Palestinian psyche supports them; and they do actually live up to that support, often as not, when they're not blowing up kids or using mosque worshipers as human shields.

I'm all for military technology that saves lives. The Iron Dome system is fantastic.
I can't say I'm for dropping the hammer, because it's almost entirely civilians getting killed. Hard to come across as the good guys when you're basically beating the kid next door with a barbed wire bat in retaliation for largely ineffective bottle rockets. The more Israel does shit like this, the more inclined your average Palestinian is going to support the guys who fight back.
If you want to stop Hamas from being a major threat, stop driving people to them.

Specifically why Hamas is incentivized to continue indiscriminate rocket attacks on Israeli population centers. This is why terrorism works.

I mostly agree. Supporting Israel because they are a Western ally is actually a good idea, because western values don't involve killing, mutilating, and eating our enemies, at least, not anymore. ;)
Also, for all you nitpickers out there, by enemies, I mean "someone who's religion isn't yours".
