Thanks for answering my questions guys.Of course. However, just because he's older doesn't make him a more suitable candidate for the throne, perhaps my character is on the furthest branch of the family tree. It's possible that you, or any of the other Blackwaters, wouldn't even know that he was part of the Blackwater lineage he's so far removed

So you're totally my cousin who was the same age? Sounds like typical marriage material for monarchy's back in the day (if your character is male). Also, even if we rule that out we might've been childhood friends when we were like 5-8 or something. I think my character was like 8 when the coupe happened, so there's a lot of potential for story there.

Yea, I like that idea of being childhood friends/distant cousins. That's something that we could work in pretty easily I think.

I have another question: Would it be possible to have nobles hire mages to train their son who has shown magic abilities? Like house mages and stuff? Basically, my character was not killed because he was off somewhere else being secretly trained to control his magical abilities, and the mages found out about the treachery and kept him hidden as he was trained over the years.

Almost done with my post. Emil is a lot broodier than I had intended. I'll just blame it on the fog and inevitable attack thats coming that has him on edge.

I think it would be possible for court mages to train children with magical abilities. It would make sense in the case of Ferros and Kain, since they no longer send children to the Mages Tower.

Hey, I have a couple of questions if you don’t mind:
1. You said Guardians are immune to magic, but unable to use it. When you say immune, are you exerting a presence that prevents the casting of magic, or if someone shoots a fireball at you it just disappears?
2. Would you be willing to accept a new Blackwater? He’d be about 25 years old, and before the treachery he was something like 92nd in line to the throne. He wouldn’t be eligible to reclaim the throne as there are still a few Blackwaters that are closer in line.
3. Does magic have any downsides physically? IE, could I have a character who was 6’6”, 280lbs and built like brock lesnar be able to use blessing magics on himself?
4. How common are demonic possessions?
5. I feel like I’ve read somewhere that you said you would limit magics to 2 types, you mean I could have healing and blessings, not restos and destros right?

1. This question has already been thoroughly discussed several pages back. I suggest you go ahead and read it. The short version is: so long as the attack is direct, the Guardian won't be damaged.

2. Thus far we have only two Blackwaters. I think a third will be alright, but a fourth would be a bit too much. Make sure to give a detailed description on what the character's place is in the family tree.

3. The first description I gave to the Archmage of Ferros was the following:
"The man with the tall hat had turned out to be the Archmage himself. A stoic strong man he was, as big as the mountains he was raised in, with blond hair, short beard and sharp icy eyes, which scanned the perimeter coldly, but seemed to have a different spark when looking at his wife and new son. "
Brand never made any suggestions to change that and took the appearance on to their post. Thus I imagine a mage has plenty of possibilities when it comes to appearance, but of course it depends on genetics and the time they have spent training their body.
Depending on what kind of magic you wield, I imagine the caster's body changes accordingly. For instance, if a magician was a pyromancer, they would have a tan. If they were a geomancer, they would definitely have a strong musculature. Skye is an aeromancer, who loves to use his magic to fly and perform aerial attacks. This makes him flexible and agile, but also a bit thinner, since weight still counts when in the air.

4. They were most likely common during the war, but they are now less. However, since we do not have a possessed character at the moment, you're free to make one.

5. The explanation is on the very first page. You can pick a maximum of two types of magics from the two categories, restos and destros.

So I looked through everyone's CSes, and there seems to be no indication of red hair anywhere. I plan to have Hark (my character) have auburn hair, a mixture of his mother's red hair and his father's brown/black (as is common in Gorgon). Basically I'd like to know which nation is more likely to have red hair.

I'd also like to know the geography of the nations in relation to one another. Which ones share a border, are any land-locked, etc.

The reason I'm asking this is because I'd like to have my parents be a political match between Gorgon and another nation, I just haven't decided which nation yet.

I got my post for Itzli up. I'm still working on Rali, and I hope to have that up tonight or tomorrow. I am really enjoying the other posts, though. They've all been great to read. :D

Good work, everyone! We have been proceeding nicely this past week. Not too fast, not too slow. The pacing is thus far wonderful. Lets strive to keep it up!

Allow me to share some music for the job well done. =3

Rejoice, Sunday's upon us XD

This is how I imagine Gorgon:

And Kain:

Nerendier said So I looked through everyone's CSes, and there seems to be no indication of red hair anywhere.

Allow me to quote myself on Cherilyn Blaumond, the Archmage of Ferros' wife:
"His wife was almost his complete opposite. Short, petite, with curly ginger hair and an attitude to match, she loved to talk and couldn’t hold herself back from pinching the little boy’s cheeks and asking him about his strange life in the forest."
This can be found in my character's Biography, but I would be surprised if anyone ever even read it.

I will put my bet on Ferros, considering the terrain they live in. However, from the map that has recently been drawn, it can not be said for certain. Brand truly needs to put this kind of small, yet important information up somewhere. Until they have, we can only guess.
Nevertheless, I believe the most likeliest of kingdoms to have the highest percentage of red-haired individuals is Ferros, due to the climate of the country.
Gorgon is a damp warm swampland. Valeal is a country with more plains and hills than mountains. Kain is a desert country. Valaria, I presume, is a country with many hills. Once these are taken into account, it's only logical for Ferros, the mountain country, to have a few red-haired people.

Nerendier said I'd also like to know the geography of the nations in relation to one another. Which ones share a border, are any land-locked, etc.

Brand has yet to write a complete description of the continent, thus we can not be 100% sure on how it looks like. Gowi sketched out a map loosely, but it has yet to be approved by the GM.
The borders that are for certain are:
Valaria-Valeal
Ferros-Kain
Gorgon-Valeal
Ferros-Valaria

It is still not clear if Ferros still borders Valeal after Valaria declared independence.

It also has been mentioned to have apparent plentiful forests outside of the swamps and marsh.

I also assume it also has some plains or rolling hills further along since we need agriculture for a stable nation to stand on.

It was merely a general statement. Ferros also has the Lowlands, which are used for farming, and no doubt Valeal has mountains as well. Hope you didn't get offended =3

I imagine that any land where agriculture would be viable won't be very large, as the people have had to turn to fishing as the primary method of keeping the cities fed.

Lol not a problem, hehe. When I start doing the map, I'll probably need a lot of the geographical and political information since there's not a lot to go off of.

Weird tidbit: I do find myself a little uh... offset in the current rough draft of the map (Gorgon is way too tiny for my comfort). Is it really that small?

This isn't a map of our world, but a map of MY medieval fantasy setting: Tromania, I was using it as an example of what mapmaking I could do. ;)

Not small, but mostly swampland and/or forests. So any land that would be great for farming would be small by comparison and not enough to sustain an entire nation.

Just want to let you know that I more or less have my character idea fully fleshed out. Now it's just time to sit down and actually write the character's CS. I suspect that if I'm not too... uhh... thirsty during tomorrow's concert I should have it up by Sunday night (tomorrow night). If you want I can have the skeleton up probably tonight.

EDIT: Additionally, it doesn't seem like Ferros would be a nation that would marry for political gain, so I think Ferros wouldn't work for my parent's background. Unless my father married into their royal family, which would mean that I would have had an easy escape into Ferros, which is not exactly what I want. So I'll have to figure out where my mother originated and what her political ties might have been.

My guess: daughter of an experienced and wealthy merchant? I mean you could go the "mom was a mage" route, but I don't know how keen you are on that option or not.

Well, I like the idea of political machinations and schemes in my family history. Since you talked about our characters being marriage candidates it's put the idea into my head that maybe another nation married into the blackwater family with the intent on furthering political bonds. After all, having a direct descendant of yours be a candidate to marry a princess makes you much more powerful.

Well, a lot of dynasties like I said in the middle ages would look to keep the inheritance of the throne in the family by marrying within their dynasty. I believe marriages to cousins were the most common of this, since having sibling marriages were still a little uncouth (depending on the culture).

But yeah whatever you figure out, I’ll look over; will especially like to have bonds for Edessa to have to make her emotionally compromised, develop flashbacks, and a myriad of other ideas.

Posted in your GM thread btw.
