Question about tournaments:

should they still be up to people/hosts, or be planned out in advance?

I'm fine with either, as the former allows for great surprise, and the latter allows for some type of uniformity and anticipation.

Planned out would be nice, but one of the theme'd tournaments every year could have an elected host who will surprise us.

I like planned out. I think it makes it easier for "rookie" players to come in and understand what's coming down the road instead of it being up in the air.

That would be funny for a scene of three canon fodder soldiers discussing why one of them wasn't wearing standard issue armor, being white and gold while they were supposed to be blue and black, and they don't believe him.

Oddly enough, this just gave me a bloody brilliant idea. I'm not even sure how it came from that, but this still managed to inspire it in my weird brain, somehow. Not to mention, it would go perfectly with a character I've been working on. I'm gonna have all sorts of fun with him.

Yeah, if you're fine with figthing Hidan in his battle mech set her up and we'll go for it.

Just make sure the Arena is one my character can conceivably fight in, he won't be much good inside a volcano.
