Alias: Beesting

Speech Color (Actually say what you're using, don't go "Like this", or what not): Golden.

Character Alignment: Walking the Line, leaning towards Hero.

Origin Info/Details: Yamamoto has been born and raised with Assassins in a remote monastery in the shadow of Mt. Fuji. It is only recently has he become a man and honorary assassin of their order, and has left to both find his father and place in the world. Details in Supporting Characters.

Identity: Secret

Character Personality:
Yamamoto Kikagawa is a reserved and serious man, allowing his actions to speak for him. It is whispered in rumor that he was always at least slightly this way, though it worsened after the murder of his ten year old half-sister. He is a man not above extinguishing the lives of others, as his work as a hired killer requires him to do so. Yet despite this he has his own personal moral conduct, even if it is loose. He is a man who follows the almighty Yen, or in the case, dollar.

He is prideful and untrusting, and finds both accepting and giving forgiveness very difficult to do. Once his trust is broken it is very unlikely one will regain it, and though he is a man slow to anger, his Fury knows no end. Resourceful and cunning, he has seen much struggle and strife in his short life.

Taro Kikagawa – Deceased many years before the beginning of the story, he is the grandfather of Yamamoto. Born in Nagaski, he joined the Imperial Army as World War 2 began, and participated in the bombing of Pearl Harbor. and raised in rank until he became part of a special operations unit known only as ‘The Deadly Dozen’. Yet surpassing even them, at the age of twenty years old he is selected by the Japanese Government to undergo a top secret super soldier project known only as Project: Beesting.
Through intense physical and mental conditioning, he becomes a secret weapon to the Japanese military, and wreaks havoc on the Allied forces. He is given a technological yellow and black suit equipped with the best technology the Japanese had to offer during the 1940’s.

Yet even he is unable to turn the tide of war after the invention of the Atomic Bomb by the Americans. After his hometown of Nagaski is destroyed by a atomic bomb, he deserts Japan believing if he was faster, stronger, and more trained he could have saved his home. He becomes officially stateless and deserts Japan in the 1946. It is in this same year he impregnates a woman in Tokyo before leaving, allowing for the birth of Katsu. From then on he works as a International Mercenary, siding with the Soviets during the Cold War, wishing for Vengeance against the Americans.

Yet his hatred for the Americans was too passionate, and both Russian and American Special Forces assassinated him after deciding that if he was allowed to continue living, he would spark World War 3 between the two superpowers. His suit and blade were acquired by the Russians.

Mizuki Tanaka– The mother of Yamamoto and a fierce and silent killer. She belongs to a group of Japanese assassins known only as ‘The Hidden Blade’. She dies in childbirth giving life to Yamamoto, yet leaves in her last will and testament instructions on how to find his father to be given to him on his eighteenth birthday.

Katsu Kikagawa – Fatherless and given up for adoption by a mother that never wanted him, Katsu drifts from orphanage to foster care growing up, and falls into the seedy Japanese Underworld. In the 1970’s he begins creating his own clan of mobsters, and has been building his criminal empire nearly his entire life. He has become respected in the Japanese underworld. He impregnates Mizuki after he hires her to kill a rival kingpin, leading the Hokkaido Clan, and does not learn about the birth of Yamamoto until he is already a man. He eventually is able to smuggle the Beesting suit and blade from corrupt Russian officials, buying millions in Yen. Yet untrained in martial arts and weaponry, he begins updating the suit and blade for the modern world in the year 2004, waiting for a Champion to give him an ultimate weapon in the deadly game of Yakuza Crime.

Asuka Kikagawa – Ten year old half-sister to Yamamoto, she was born of Katsu’s concubine. Innocent and free spirited, she accepts Yamamoto and loves him unconditionally, though unaware of his deadly talents. It is with her that he feels he can try and pretend his hands are not dirtied by the blood of many.

Do you know how to post pictures on RPG boards?: Kind of.

Sample Post (Minimum Four paragraphs containing dialogue. As this is an Advanced Level game, Sample must also meet the RPG forum's minimum requirement of 12 lines):

Yamamoto spit upon the cold stone floor of the remote hidden base of the ‘The Hidden Blades’, blood in his saliva. His mentor stood before him, a hard grimace on his face. They had been sparring for hours, and Yamamoto was tiring, and his body was sore from repeated strikes to his body by the much more skilled sensei. His body burned with the exertion of the day, and his breath came in ragged and shallow gulps.

“You are weak, Yamamoto. You think you are ready to be a true Blade. Yet you can barely keep pace with an old man.” He chuckled harshly and approached slowly, his arms raised and poised to strike. Before the youth could reply, a sweeping kick came to knock the man onto the floor, yet he leaped into the air, over the attempted kick. Landing with a thud, Yamamoto swung his fist harshly, yet found it land squarely in the palm of his master. With a yank, the master pulled the bruised man in forcefully, connecting a fist to the chin of the boy. He stumbled backwards, dazed, and fell onto his back on the floor. The sensei approached once more, looking down upon the finally defeated aspiring assassin.

“Please, master… I can barely breathe. I can’t continue. I can’t keep up…” Cried the wounded youth, sprawled eagle on the floor, barely able to see straight.

“You think Death is fair…?” Whispered the Master sadistically, sending a swift kick into the ribs of the defenseless Yamamoto.

“You think Death will wait for you to catch your breath..?” He spoke one more, now sending a kick to the head of Yamamoto, his vision becoming even more blurred.

“Your mother would be ashamed. You wish to become one with Death. Yet you wish Death to serve you and your whims. Your weak and fragile body. Always remember this, my student.
Death shall never serve you.
You shall serve Death.”

With those final words echoing in his head, Yamamoto Kikagawa fell into darkness, and unconsciousness overtook him.

Hey Prince, my character Tremor is also a Japanese native and former yakuza member. He spent the better part of the last decade being one the go to enforcers for the syndicate because of his martial arts mastery and superhuman powers. He did leave them though t during a moral awakening. The Beesting would therefore know of Tremor, and may even have had a history with him?

Woah. That is freaking insane that another person has a character mirroring my own so closely. I could totally be down with that idea, Deja! But there is only one small problem...

Yamamoto still needs to go through his Origin Arc, which means he hasn't even entered the Japanese Underworld yet, and has nothing to do with any of that. Up until this point he has spent his entire life training with the assassins. Maybe Tremor will soon hear of a up and coming Assassin that arrived in town? ;)

Hello everyone, definitely interested in this roleplay. Here's my character sheet, it ended up being a bit longer than I had intended, but let me know if there are any problems with it:
Character you have created: Madeline “Maddie” Cooper.
Alias: Epione.
Speech Color: Orange.
Character Alignment: Walking the line (I'm planning on her becoming a full villain later in the story).
Identity: Secret.

Character Personality: An idealist at heart but a pessimist by nature, Maddie has always been in conflict with herself. While she has moralistic beliefs she can’t help but to be selfish and to take her anger out on the people trying to help her. She has a tendency to act as if she can handle everything but in reality she’s a very sensitive person and is easily influenced emotionally. Maddie gets too far into things, becoming infatuated and blind to the full situation. She can’t leave helpless things alone, but despite trying to improve the situation half of the time she ends up making it worse and later obsesses over her failure.

Uniform/costume: Getting her inspiration from comic books, she wears an all black and high-necked leotard with a large “E” printed in orange over the chest. In addition, she wears a pair of orange ankle boots (heel-less, as to make running easier) and a orange mask, which covers her nose and her eyes. She is a bit embarrassed by her costume but she likes being able to move freely. She keeps her red hair pulled back tightly when in uniform.

Origin Info/Details: Madeline had never been a bad person – she got into magic with the same enthusiasm and hopes as any other wanna-be hero – but she lacked the strong will needed to avoid corruption. Growing up, Maddie had been an idealist full of dreams for the future. Wanting to help those who couldn’t help themselves, Maddie read stories about knights fighting dragons, getting her inspiration from fairy tales instead of from real life. As she grew up, it became a shock to her how different the real world was and began to lose her motivation until she realized that she could do something about it.

Up until this point in her life, Madeline had lived a normal life with her modest parents, Susan and Richard Cooper. When she turned eight, her younger brother, Samuel, was born. She led a completely ordinary life, scraping her knees up as an energetic kid, studying as a serious high school student, and experiencing her “first love” with a boy named Jack Milms. Jack was great, and Jack read about as many comic books as she read fairy tales. By her senior year in high school, Maddie had become fixated on saving the world, just as she had been when she was a kid.

She began to obsess over the idea of magic, looking for any books she could find on it, reading everything she could from folklore and mythology, until she finally found what she was looking for: the real-deal, a book that taught magic. For months, Madeline couldn’t figure out what she was doing wrong. She could do small stuff, like healing a paper cut, or letting out a puff of smoke from her fingertip, but she couldn’t manage to do anything past that. Finally, she realized that she needed to put her emotions into it. If she wanted to heal someone, she had to have true sympathy for them. She immersed herself too much in magic, rapidly becoming more powerful after figuring out how to properly use it, and by the time she became a freshman in college she had become so adjusted to it that it became difficult for her to stop.

Having become so fascinated by learning magic, she had almost forgotten what she had learned it for: to help people. She was reminded one night when she happened across a bad situation: a man trying to rob a young woman. She was reminded, firstly, of he desire to help people, and secondly, that even if she could heal someone she had no real defense. Despite trying to help the girl all she did was make matters worse, the man pulled out a dagger and stabbed the woman (luckily, it was nowhere serious) and ran away. She did manage to heal the girl's injury, but she was also fairly certain that if her initial attack had done anything at all, it had probably healed the robber!

Back on track, Maddie created her alias, Epione (based off of the Goddess of soothing pain from mythology) before she knew what she was getting into. She created her costume, too, but didn’t make a debut for a long time. She first had to learn how to use defensive magic. She practiced making shields, but it wasn’t enough, so she learned about electricity. As she began to get more powerful, she experimented with combustion as well, for emergency purposes. She was never planning to use it on anyone, but rather to use it on objects around them if it ever turned out to be helpful.

Just like before, the more she used magic and the more she connected magic to her emotions, the more difficult it became for her to avoid using it in public. The first incident was at school, when she accidentally lit a trashcan on fire after getting upset. Luckily she had been in the bathroom, perfectly alone when it happened, but she didn’t stop there. She felt like she couldn’t stop practicing magic, it was like giving up her emotions! But the second incident was much worse. She hadn’t meant to set the house on fire. It was an accident, an honest to God accident, but that accident resulted in the death of her boyfriend, Jack. The incident was reported as an accidental fire. After that, she cut off her ties with her family, fearing another accident, and began living in the dormitory at school. She still attends school but she’s trying hard to keep her goal of being a superhero, wanting to make amends for what she did. Occasionally, she wonders if she would make a better villain…

Hero Type: Mystic.
Power Level: City Level.
Powers: Varies due to her being a mystic. Originally she focused on healing and protective magic but got into electricity and later, as her abilities became more destructive, turning to combustion.

Attributes:
Strength Level: Normal Human, varies when using magic.
Speed/Reaction Timing Level: Normal Human, varies when using magic.
Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort: 2HR, while using magic.
Agility: Normal Human, varies when using magic.
Intelligence: Average.
Fighting Skill: Untrained (physically), trained (magically).
Resources: Average.

Weaknesses: Her mental health is unstable, being a hero (or villain) is too stressful for her. On top of this her emotions play a large part in her magic using, sometimes she can lose control of them or, if her motivation is lost, she can hardly use them at all.

Supporting Characters:
Susan Cooper, mother.
Robert Cooper, father.
Samuel Cooper, brother.
Jack Milms, ex-boyfriend. deceased.
Violet Church, her roommate.

Do you know how to post pictures on RPG boards?: Yup.
Sample Post:

“I’m not a bad person, I’m not a bad person, I’m not a bad person.” The muttering had become a necessary ritual to get her to fall asleep, the repetition and the sound of her slow voice had started to sound something like a lullaby, though her whispers were hardly audible. Her roommate, Violet, had never once stirred (Madeline had always made certain she was asleep before she started) and Maddie couldn’t stand the silence at night. It gave her too much time to think and tonight was especially bad, she was starting to give up on the idea of getting any sleep at all. It was six o’ five in the morning, judging by the digital clock in the corner, whose bright green numbers made her tiered eyes sting. There was nothing she could do there, glued to her bed, except wait and hope for sleep. Her head was filled with too much anticipation, thoughts of magic popped up whenever she closed her eyes, like a bad itch waiting to be scratched. Part of her feared falling asleep one night and waking up to find the whole room burned down by morning.

The anxiousness was getting to her. Slinking out of the room along with a handful of notebooks, she made her way down the hall, fled the school gates and headed to Hidden Park, as she called it. It was nothing more than an empty cement lot outside of the old gym building that the school used for storage, but it was quiet and there was nothing flammable, so she often came late at night when people weren’t likely to pass by. Sitting on an overturned bucket she let out a heavy sigh – a sigh filled with all of her nervousness and all of her worries – and took out the stack of spiral-bound notebooks that she used specifically for practicing. Lately, she’d been trying to master her powers, things like controlling fire, stopping it from spreading from one page to the next, and containing her abilities. It was difficult to worry about them getting out of hand when her emotions made it hard for her to think logically. So far, she had been unsuccessful. She wasn’t even entirely sure that it was possible with something like paper. Candles, maybe, but she didn’t have those with her now.

The fire spat up, bright orange against the dark night, and spread quickly through the papers. She got it to a low flame by the time she reached the back cover and soon after it turned into nothing but smoke. Into the old trashcan it went (or what was left of it), along with all the other notebook remains that she’d buried under its round lid. Another book was laid out, and she tried to keep her cool this time.

“Remember, you have to want it to burn, but you don’t have to be angry. Be excited, excited about… about something, Maddie. Be excited about class!” She said, trying to teach her pessimistic self to have a little optimism, but the same thing happened. By the third book she was angry and lit it and all of her remaining notebooks on fire in her frustration.

“Crap!” Madeline yelled quietly, as quietly as any yell could be, kicking the trashcan over. She felt no less angry after kicking it and scowled at her foot, her toe throbbing, though she didn’t care right then. What was wrong with her? Why couldn’t she do this? If she couldn’t control her powers, then she never should have learned them in the first place! At this rate she’d end up nothing more than a villain!

Giving up for the night (not that it was very optional, she was out of things to burn) Maddie walked back to her room much slower than she had on her way out of it, slumping onto the bed as if she’d just returned from a long day of work.

“I’ve accomplished nothing, again.” She muttered to herself as she looked at the glowing green numbers on the clock. Six fifty-two, it read, and she felt as if it was mocking her. For a long minute, she considered lighting it on fire, too, but she gave up as she rolled onto her side. “Maybe I’d make a better villain than a hero, anyway. A more successful one at least.” Madeline mumbled, as she started up her ritual and tried for a second time that night to get some sleep.
Also, I hope the way I had her get her powers is alright. If I need to change it, please let me know.

Ah, alright. Tremor is no longer involved with the crime family but he's definitely known by them(many find his abandonment dishonorable). Should any story arc with they Yakuza happen we will both have some dirt on each other then (or someone could hunt tremor down for his skills/dishonor)

Yeah, I was going to try as an elemental (had the idea of a fire user that could do the normal fire-blasting stuff as well as having the ability to teleport to any readily combustible thing with between half and ten times as much stored chemical energy as his body, with the bonus that the thing would immediately combust fully upon his arrival) after I saw this many mystics, but I really wanted to play this concept -.-

On that note, my first post should be up within an hour or so.

I'm planning on putting an application for a power-suit character, but I have to first figure out how to make him not be an Iron Man clone. >.<

I'd not worry about "cloning" and just let the character come to life in your head. I mean Marcus Huxley was originally a "what if Peter Parker was Doctor Strange" idea and it developed from there.

And done. It follows on from the sample post (laziness) which hopefully isn't a problem. I think I've got a fairly good idea of where this arc is going, at least.

Hey guys, I felt Beesting may be a little underpowered, because when it boils down to it he is a regular human contending with magic users and meta-humans. Because of this I wrote in that the suit artificially increases his strength, speed, and endurance slightly, to help level playing field. I also wrote him in as learned in poisons, and the suit allowing him to make a duplicate hologram of himself during combat, to confuse his opponents and give him a breather. Let me know if there is any problems with that.

I will be writing my first post shortly.

Character you have created:[b] The Vigilante
[b]Alias:
Isaac Fontaine

Speech Color (Actually say what you're using, don't go "Like this", or what not): When it comes back up, courier new, regular white on black with bold. Without bold for “thought quotes”.

Character Alignment: Hero with shades of grey

Identity: Secret and paranoid about keeping it so.

Character Personality (Give information on how your character acts, what he/she believes in, how they handle situations):
Mid-to-late 20s but has been fighting crime in his way for well over a decade. Slight frame but well cut as a former light middleweight amateur boxer in school. Not a big man for someone with his “hobby” – slightly over 6 feet and put in a lot of work just to get to 180lbs – but gets by through intimidation and reputation which leads people to believe he’s a bigger man than he is. Was the sole heir to a very wealthy family but lives/eats like a bum – a lot of microwaveable food, and quick-to-prepare meals. Everything about him screams of “Practical over aesthetics” from his straight black costume, to his unkempt appearance in his other life. He’s someone who plans his actions thoroughly, but will often lash out speaking his mind thoughtlessly with little concern for the consequences. That doesn’t mean that he is beyond remorse, merely speaks brashly.

Uniform/costume:
Fontaine is more about effectiveness than style, as such everything he takes/wears has to be justifiable. He wears a black balaclava, generic black tracksuit top and pants, strapped with duct tape at the wrists and ankles to avoid leaving DNA evidence, wears rubber surgical gloves under leather gloves allowing him to remove leather gloves for greater dexterity.

Origin Info/Details:
Born in the mid-80s, his was a remarkable situation. A very rare condition saw his mother’s body treating the foetus as a disease/obstruction, her immune system attacking the baby and leaving the mother dramatically weakened and needing an extremely pre-mature c-section. In what was previously thought to be a zero survival rate case, Isaac Fontaine the miracle baby was born in uncomfortable silence. His nerves fused in such a way as to not allow the sensation of pain to travel through to the receptors in his brain as his body managed to somehow naturally adapt to prevent the foetus dying of shock. Due to disuse and redundancy his brain’s pain receptors atrophied away to nothing. His mother’s body however was ravaged and weakened by the birth, dying in the hospital. Her body died fighting the baby her mind wanted so badly. The father named the child Isaac, as was his mother’s wish and he raised the child as she would want, despite some deep-seeded resentment towards the child for being the cause of death to the woman he loved so much.
The boy and his father would eat at the dinner table with the evening news on in the background, and his father would comment on it with the problems of the day (his father was a brash, opinionated man, just as the son would be – he was also grooming him to one day rise to fill his shoes in the corporate world). A liberal government combined with the news would lead to great rants from the conservative father, about the government being out of touch and needing to crack down on the criminal youth element (gangs and organised crime were becoming increasingly prevalent in Terraria through the 90s-early 2000s). One phrase which was repeated often which would resonate in the younger Fontaine’s ears: “Something has to be done”.
Fast forward a few years, and a young Fontaine is playing soccer, representing his boarding school, the young Isaac was taken out via a slide tackle from a vastly bigger boy from a rival school with a bullying reputation. Isaac got to his feet and shoved the bully who countered by punching Isaac in the face. Isaac had his feet set and took the brunt of the blow, returning fire with a shot that broke his nose and sat the behemoth on his arse. The following season he was urged into boxing as word passed through the school of the soccer incident. That next winter he also moved into rugby as he grew to love the positive response and reputation he got as a fearless, loyal teammate who would throw himself in to play support regardless the odds for success… coming out on top more often than not.
His first vigilante moment came at 16, when he saw an old man get mugged by 5 punk kids who stole his wallet and, seeing that nobody around was looking to oppose them, kicked the old man in the chest and walked away laughing. Fontaine’s dark scowl reflected his posture as he hunched in an intimidating fashion over the wheel. Observed the 5 walk to their car and trailed them back to a house. Fontaine picked off the residents one or two at a time, found the wallet and fled. From the security of his car he saw the wallet had been picked clean of cash, after a brief stop he returned the wallet plus $200 to its rightful owner after knocking on the door and leaving the wallet on the step whilst checking from a safe distance. The old man’s heart dangerously skipped a beat when he found it brimming with currency, but all was well and a hero was born.
A year later his father was mugged and bled out in a backstreet after leaving through a backdoor avoiding current affairs reporters who had been harassing their way to the top due to the poor behaviour of a comparatively lower down representative of the company. With this event a hobby mutated to obsession as his father’s words echoed with meaning now greater than ever.
With access to new wealth from his passing father, an empty house to work towards his fixation and the additional alibi of taking some time off to mourn the passing of his father added to his rapidly improving methods and the cool, fearless head which led to many calling him “Iced veins” Fontaine, Isaac now threatens to be the biggest blight on crime yet… if the police and a Premier seeking re-election don’t take him down first.

Now in the last year or so his life has become quite a bit more chaotic... but that isn’t his origin.

Hero Type (Select one):
Leans closest to Normal, with slight aspects of muscle, acrobat and intelligence.

Power Level (Select one below):
Going by the level of his actual powers you would say 1. By definition he watches over his home city though.

Powers (Be Specific):
Inability to feel pain. Very minor healing factor that allows him to heal perhaps 50 percent faster than regular people.

Attributes:

Strength Level: High level human. Pain no factor.

Speed/Reaction Timing: High level human.

Endurance at Maximum Effort: Above regular level human since not held back by pain barrier.

Agility: Held to human level.

Intelligence: Borderline genius intellect by human terms. Particularly suited to his own lifestyle.

Fighting Skill: Heavily influenced by boxing where he gained experience as a high school amateur boxer. Will kick, but generally when opponent is exposed. More power than finesse, will occasionally break his own bones/harm himself trying to take out opponents. Knows some counters in other martial arts but is far from a master in any. Looks to intimidate. Not opposed to inflicting serious injury to self or opponents in combat. Better at fighting against knives than with one himself, since training low and he’s largely self-taught from a decade of crime-fighting. Not a good marksman due to his inexperience/fear of possible harm to innocent bystanders and largely abhors guns in general.

Resources: Large but not obscene to Bruce Wayne/Tony Stark/Danny Rand levels. Family was wealthy as father was banking high-up and left with vast inheritance. Rents numerous places in Lost Haven as “safe houses”, this allows/results in him living in a number of places and not really considering anywhere in this new city home.

Equipment: Nightsticks (previously jimmy-sticks), grappling hook gun/bolt gun (which he carries both piercing bolts and “concussion” dulled-head bolts), “flash-bang” grenades, balaklava, $500 in cash, spare cable/hooks, duct tape. Will occasionally carry light pack with other ordnance/equipment.

Weaknesses: Poor marksman, but doesn’t really use firearms anyway. Is very intelligent, but needs it focused to be applicable. Quite (extremely) socially maladjusted; too frequently speaks his mind. Is only human in a world of superhumans. Inability to feel pain results in more serious injuries since he pushes his body to further and further extremes.

What can you bring to the RPG: The same thing I bring every season, Pinky...

Sample Post (Minimum Four paragraphs containing dialogue. As this is an Advanced Level game, Sample must also meet the RPG forum's minimum requirement of 12 lines):

Headquarters of The Agency – Lost Haven

Isaac left Flux’s quarters and walked down a hall way towards his own private room. He strove to put her drive her words from his mind with every stride. He needed a distraction. Someone to hit, a problem to solve, something to do. Anything.

Or failing that, solitude.

Entering his room and closing the door behind him, he felt it all wash away with a soothing tic-tic-tic sound which had been growing ever more on him. A warm smile crossed his face, a rarity of its kind, as he let his defences drop as much as he could allow in this building. They were raised again when his hand brushed against a foreign object resting on his bed as he sat down.

It looked like a toy gun of sorts. Made of clunky ostentatious yellow plastic, written on the gun in light purple writing when he held it up to the light to show it in better relief it said:

From Megan –
Do not tamper with inner-workings.
Keep in this world.
Hope you enjoy.

Examining it closer he saw that it wasn’t a decal, it was comprised of yellow plastic and light purple plastic, never separated and not painted. Those were its colours. With no visible join.

“She had to have made it.” He muttered to himself. He didn’t have a microscope handy but he was willing to bet it was indeed constructed down to a molecular level. He rubbed his jaw in contemplation. “Keep in this world”. Sounds both foreboding and intriguing. What could she have meant by that?

One thing’s for certain he didn’t intend to tinker with it. When a god-like entity, even in the form of a little girl, gives an instruction like “Oh, and don’t eat that fruit” or “Mind you don’t open that box, Pandora” it’s generally a good idea to leave well enough alone and play by those rules. Besides, he probably wouldn’t know how it works even if he did crack it open and something about the “Keep in this world” suggested to him that it was one of those situations where letting others know about it would probably be a bad idea. “Hope you enjoy” suggests it’s a present and for him alone.

He strolled around his bed, looking at it and swapping it from hand to hand, letting these thoughts swirl in his head. His mind was already made up, he leaned against the door to his quarters in case someone heard something and tried to come in. Raised the gun, flinching away from it, not knowing exactly what to expect and pulled the trigger.

A loud sound like material tearing was heard and a whirling bright white wormhole appeared. It seemed to produce its own energy to counterbalance the effect of diffusion, meaning nothing was being pulled into the portal. There was no wind, not even a gentle breeze. The normality of a hole leading somewhere, probably “another world” by Megan’s note made him more nervous than if pulling the trigger had sucked him through. He walked around the other side of the portal and it was transparent, he could see the door to his quarters. It was only visible from the side you could enter it from. He considered putting his hand through the wormhole from the other side just to see what would happen and then thought against it. It didn’t seem like something to be trifled with.

He looked back through it from the regular side and watched as it started to flicker slightly dimmer. It was weakening. He waited and the portal kind of fizzled out. Collapsing upon itself.

He put his hand over his mouth and rubbed his chin again. “Geez-us f***-ing…”

He opened the door and surveyed the hallway. Nothing. Apparently it hadn’t been loud enough to raise anyone’s attention. He closed the door again.

Tic-tic-tic-tic-tic.

This time the gentle sound didn’t help him any, because he’d already made his mind up.

Leaning against the door a second time, he pulled the trigger. The vertical white portal showed itself in roughly the same place as the last one.

He breathed deeply and stepped through.

And as the portal closed all that remained was the gentle ticking.

Tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic-tic.

@The Kid Lantern: My character is based in NY state too (albeit the Raptor lives in Northern New York), so we should get some kind of interaction at some point.

Also, I blame Barsavis for what happened in Zac's dream. :D

Also, if anyone notices that I edited my other IC posts, it was just formatting (I added a Horizontal Line instead of asterisks for "scene breaks").

The idea was he'd keep traveling north moving toward Maine and Lost Haven. So northern NY would be doable. I'm gonna introduce another lame villain loosely based on Batroc the Leaper who has incredible jumping powers [LOL] called Grasshopper. Cause you know... my guy can control plants and grass and this guy can... jump really high over it.
