Ohai, I saw this and posted an unfinished, unapproved, uncensored app for a religious order.

Hope it's okay so far, this RP looks really cool.

It's interesting to think how a year back everyone kept making mega empires all over the place, especially in space RPs.

Now it is the opposite.

Perhaps for the better.

The vast majority of this world is trackless desert; borders mean nothing here. What good is an empire when its vast dominion is comprised of nothing but shifting sand? Its all about controlling the trade, the resources, the settlements, the money.

Because it's a lot easier and reliable to skim your cut from the people than risk life and limb fighting for everything you own.

A Khanate would do well. But I think that would rely on draining resources from an older more established empire. Or something like that.

I personally feel @Flagg needs to curb or maybe consider the application pace! 8 applications is a lot for an NRP and you don't anyone to get swallowed up and feel over shadowed.

I'm going to be home rather soon, at which time I look forward to catching up on everyone else's nations and working further on my own!
It is definitely shaping up to be a great rp.

I think we're okay for now, especially considering that some of our factions are more like guilds.

@Clocktowerechos can you post your WIP sheet in the character tab with UNAPPROVED at the top? Then I can look it over and share my thoughts when I have a minute. It's just easier to have it all in one place.

Maybe if we all work more towards integration. Maybe using a place or thing someone else has mentioned in their respective sheets? Make it more of a 'co-operative' worldbuild.

EDIT: Changing my concept. The similarities between chapatraps app and mine are too close. (Both have ancestor worship, both are mysterious religious military orders) It's not a big deal tho-I have an idea for a race of basilisk humanoid traders/criminals/spies.

I mentioned Farai in my uncompleted sheet. I might mention other things once I get around to filling in the other parts of the sheet. But before we mention anything, we should probably wait to see if that thing is approved. I mentioned Farai because it was relevant and it was approved.

@Pepperm1ntsThat's just supposed to be a run they use.
I'm thinking of them worshiping their creators as some sort of god, albeit in a twisted way.

It would also help for me to put up an outline of my nation, which I will try to do today. But to this point- in the past, I've used pirate pads to encourage people to collaborate. I'm semi-leery of doing so just yet, because it can tend to distract from the actual RP, but I would encourage people to work together on their own to work out shared histories, etc, and be in touch with me here or by PM if anyone has questions.

I will have my WIP nation sheet and a WIP map up today.

@FlaggHere's the race I'll be using, just wanted to run it by you.

Also, could you explain more about the tech and Archeo-tech?

Ok, so I just skimmed your sheet- a few thoughts.

1) why not have them produced from still functioning breeding vats in facilities scattered across the landscape? That way, we can hear less about their sperm ;) Also, breeding vats are cool.

2) Make them less orky. I'm fine with violent tribes of failed supersoldiers inspired by orcs/orks, but let's get rid of the fake-cockney, the tusks, and the Warhammer/Warcraft orcliness going on. In fact, making them more like Tolkien's orcs or mutants in 40K or a post-apocalyptic setting and less like the 'greenskins' of pop fantasy is probably a better way to go.

3) Archeo tech is really just there for you to run with and give the RP an interesting edge. I'm not going to allow machine guns or vehicles or tanks or anything that would be godmoddish or stupid, but I'm also not going to get too specific about it, bc I want people to have the freedom to do what they like. Just use common sense and creativity.

Here is my critique. It's not official so take it or ignore it.

I think the way they are currently described is not really what you would expect from beings created for the singular purpose of war. Realistically, you would not bother with things like breeding, emotion, or any of those "human" attributes. If we created war machines in real life, we would not even bother with putting skin on them. We'd make them robots with the singular purpose of waging war, because that is the most effective application for such a thing, practically and economically. Emotion is detrimental when your only purpose is to kill.

But I understand robots don't really fit in with the RP.

So what I would suggest, to explain why they still breed and all that, is maybe make them some conquered race of people that the Old Ones (is that what we're calling them?) annihilated and attempted to clone to be used as slaves (it would explain the emphasis on strength) with a little bit of genetic manipulation to make them ideal laborers. Ideally, though, you should shroud their origin in mystery because it wouldn't make sense for them to know exactly what they are.

1) Sure thing, I was just unsure of how exactly to make them, I'd be totally down for making their "bases" be mostly centered around science centers and such. I assume they'd still be working although there would be no more point to their more natural reproduction cycle.

2) Sure thing, the only thing is that I haven't read Tolkien nor do I know much about mutants in 40k. Fear not tho, I didn't plan to have them to speak exactly with a faux-Cockney accent. I totally didn't spent half an hour trying out various accents for them.

3) Can I use stuff like chemical stimulants or would the breeding vats take up the archo tech slot?

I attribute their emotional capabilities to natural evolution and mutations in brain cells (because you know... science). I think that I could make them as the sort of cannon fodder "biological robots" that were meant to do all task that the Old Ones didn't want to do like labor or fighting.

I'm actually thinking of redesigning the race completely. I remember having an idea of cat people or something like that. Might also do something of a mixed community, also had an idea of a human/lamia civilization mix.
