According to the Jedi, it is the trademark of the Sith. How true it is, is questionable. It is undeniable that many of them are capable of it, but whether it is their trademark is harder to say. Most Sith would not agree to that claim, though the Jedi will still claim it.
At high noon yesterday, the Sith Empire showed their capability for deceit, for even as negotiators from the Empire and the republic spoke of peace upon the neutral world of Alderaan, a Sith armada invaded Coruscant, destroying the Jedi Temple and ravaging the planet.
With Coruscant still in Sith hands, how large the death tolls were is still unknown to the republic. What is known is that they are bound to increase if the Sith do not get the terms they want in the negotiations on Alderaan. But these negotiations are not why you have been contacted.
A significant number of Jedi Knights and Padawans are presumed to have been taken captive by the enigmatic Sith known only as Darth Nyiss. You might wonder how this is known with Coruscant in Sith hands. The answer to that question is simple… Before communications were cut off, security recordings made their way to the Council members not on Coruscant at the time. In addition, chatter picked up by SIS agents within the empire also spoke of the enigmatic Darth having more plans than merely turning them to the dark side. What those plans are, nobody knows.
The year is 3653 BBY. You are one of two things: Either, you are a Jedi, taken captive on Coruscant sometime after the initial assault of the Sacking. Or you are a Jedi taken captive somewhere else and have been sent to Darth Nyiss for reason unknown.
Of course, it might happen to be that you aren’t one of those two. In that case, you are either a Jedi seeking to rescue some or all of the captives, or you are a Sith, eager to do your best to turn these captives into serving the Empire and the Dark Side of the Force.
Any questions?
~~~~~~
Currently, the prisoners, who were either captured during the Sacking or delivered by other Sith as to curry favor with Nyiss, are doing their best to resist the influences of their Sith captors. A small stowaway droid, called “Navi”, property of one of the prisoners, has intel that might help them escape, but as of this moment, they are waiting for the perfect time. Mainly during the time of maintenance upon the ship’s tractor beam emitters. With those out of the picture, they can safely use the ship’s escape pods, provided they reach them.
The Sith in turn, are oblivious to this potential means of escape. They are trying to turn the Jedi to the Dark Side, or at least into serving the Empire or surviving each other, all as a means to earning Darth Nyiss’ favor.
The Jedi rescuers are meandering about on Tatooine, seeking any and all traces of what might lead them to the Kaggath. Though they are making progress, they will need more than blind luck to find and save their lost allies.
As you might have surmised from the above: Coruscant Sacked: Aftermath is not a new RP.
In fact, it dates back to the Old Guild. Unfortunately, that version died (due to major design flaws), but it was relaunched some eight months ago and is currently sitting on a bit more than two hundred and forty-five IC posts. We won’t ask you to read all that before joining, but we do think you’ll enjoy reading it at some point. Till then, we have the above-linked summary.
Right now, we’re primarily looking for captured Jedi Knights and experienced Sith Apprentices, but if you have a concept that isn’t one of those, don’t hesitate to ask one of the three GMs about it. They are @Ellri, @Sundered Echo & @Fallenreaper. Just please no bounty hunter or a mandalorian as those won’t be accepted, they just can’t be fitted into theme of the rp. Aftermath is designed for Jedi and Sith first and foremost. In addition some races will not be acceptable due to balance issues, inability to nerf powerful abilities without crippling the PC drastically or weren’t discovered during the era. See CS section for more details.
Seeing how this RP (obviously) isn’t property of Disney, it is clearly not Canon, but we will still hold it to what we call “plausible canon”. You don’t see teenage masters of the seven lightsaber combat forms or Sith who can juggle dreadnaughts without breaking a sweat, but there is still considerable room for exploration without going to extremes like those.
If this interests you, feel free to drop by the OoC and/or the IRC.
While we would like those interested to have a reasonable level of writing skill, we are not as strict as some advanced RPs. What you achieve with what you write is what matters, not how much you write. The goal is to tell a story, not to “win”. We tend to be strict on CSs, but gentler so long as you behave yourself IC (and OoC). Similarly, we do not demand that you’ve memorized wookieepedia or somesuch nonsense. It is your will to learn more if you know less that matters. If there’s lore you’re uncertain about, we’ve got players with numerous areas of expertise when it comes to lore, and they’re all willing to help.
All characters at this point have to be force-sensitive, but they do not have to be trained Sith/Jedi. If you have an idea that you think will work within these parameters, feel free to pitch it.
Another thing to keep in is mind Aftermath is more based on Characters than combat. In the whole story the most combative scenes have been the temple (at the start), Jedi tossed against NPCs in the arena (Koren, a Jedi Knight, was tossed in twice and Kara and Denso fought some enslaved republic fighters), and one Sith apprentice murdered (Jakali angered Sish, a Sith Lord, then tried to escape punishment but he died when Sish caught up with him). So a non combative PC can enter and not completely worry about it, mainly as they won't be penalized for it and maybe add more spice to the rooster.
Indeed, one of the core purposes of aftermath is to explore the nuances of the light and dark sides, including what paths might guide individuals between them. Some Jedi remain stalwart, others might fall to the dark side. At the same time, some Sith might fall to the Light Side.
Now that we're not on a tablet, we can also say that Ratataki is a species we've not yet had anyone try playing in aftermath. Or at least not actually join into the story with. Thus it should be a refreshing species to see someone play.
Both Sith apprentices and prisoners are desired at this time, @frapet. The Jedi can be either padawans or Knights, though we have fewer knights than padawans right now.
