Cyclone, with this encounter, don't be afraid of potentially killing Torrens. If he dies, it serves him (and me) right for charging in there like a fool. And he can easily be reanimated by just setting his remains on fire, so it need not be permanent.
That said, don't go out of your way to kill him either. I'm just letting you know that it's fine if the orcs turn out to be too much for him.

He's probably fine for now against a few ragtag fighters and archers, but when the shaman comes he's pretty screwed over what with being alone. That being said, he could attempt to flee.

P.S. Although, it looks like the shaman will be encountering D'Artagnan before Torrens.
P.P.S. And we've always got Emily's hidden trump card or whatever it is she's got planned, although I'm betting that will be saved for something more significant than a single orc shaman.

I'm not entirely sure, but I can't imagine that the orc shaman will be particularly friendly. Although, he may not immediately recognise you as an enemy either. If you want my opinion, it probably depends on what you want to get out of it. You could try to assassinate him, which would need stealth and stuff, but is rather direct and straightforward. Or you could attempt to negotiate safe passage for the Horde, in which case you will need to convince them that Torrens is not a member of your Horde (sorry about that) (you could go out and beat him in combat, drive him away. Torrens should clue in to that plan). Of course, whether they would grant you safe passage even if Torrens wasn't attacking I don't know. The diplomatic route has its risks, and reveals the presence of our army if they didn't already know.

Cyclone may have better hints than my wild conjecture. Whether he gives them to you is another matter.

Well, what BBeast said. You could also try to figure out what's going on with the orcs' king, since D'Artagne knows about that from overhearing the orcs in the tent.

The one hint I'll give you is that the shaman isn't nearly as much of a threat as the king.
