I'm not sure about Cable as True Neutral either.

Maybe someone like Uatu the Watcher would be a better example. Dude is about as neutral as you can get without being catatonic.

Though really people are rarely defined as one alignment, people are three dimensional and nuanced.

Not sure if I agree with Bats & Doomie being the representatives of Neutral Good & Evil (Doom is definitely Lawful Evil, Bats could go either Neutral or Chaotic), but the rest are pretty spot-on.

Agree with your assessment of Doom. He really should be lawful.

In comparison to men like Rorschach, Punisher, and Wolverine, Batman is pretty neutral. Although I agree they could have found a better representative for Neutral Evil. Maybe someone like Black Cat?

Quick question!

Is anyone established as the Mayor of New York?

representative for Neutral Evil.

Deadshot, Taskmaster, or Deathstroke would be a good choice. Neutral Evil is the "I do evil for my benefit with no regard for law or chaos." alignment, after all.

Punisher's gotta be Chaotic Neutral. I can't justify putting him on the Good side of the scale, even if he does go after bad guys. I agree with @Gowi on Neutral Evil: that's your classic assassin type. Will do anything Lawful or Chaotic if the price is right.

Though Doom takes care of his country and wants to rule the world, he often breaks alliances for his own benefit. So he would at least be LE with NE tendencies.

I would classify Batman as CG.

True; though as @Gowi points out, most people fluctuate through different alignments from time to time. Doom may betray his word now and then, but his chief mode of operation is Lawful. He does what he does because he believes it to be right, and he uses society's rules whenever possible.

Punisher's gotta be Chaotic Neutral.

Chaotic Good does Good at any cost, any end, any means. The law is irrelevant in the eyes of good. In this definition Punisher could def. be CG.

Batman goes back and forth betwee NG and CG, for the most part.

Depends on whether you're more Kantian or moral absolutist. If you believe killing -- regardless of the intention -- to be an evil act, then Punisher cannot be Good.

@FacePunch I am not sure about cap as lawful good. Cap will break the law (Civil ear anyone?) If he sees it as for the greater good.

True, but we have to separate the rule of law from Lawfulness. The importance of being Lawful is that one has a code. That code doesn't have to match up with what society has laid out, but it must be unshakable.

@Sep I'm fairly sure lawful doesn't just mean the literal law. I believe it can also mean adhering to a personal code of ethics, or an ideology.

I'd also argue that Cap's actions during Civil War were justified by the Constitution.

That's the thing about the alignment system: good can kill. It just has to be justified by the orderly facet.

I tend to recognize Punisher as Chaotic Neutral as I feel his intentions aren't to do good but to facilitate his individual opinions through vengeance. Chaotic Neutral is "The Individual".
