So Batman vs Superman was awful.

I'm obviously going to refrain from spoiling anything but one comment I would make is that it suffered from a mixture of The Dark Knight Rises and Age of Ultron-itis. Too many characters, too little character development, and 80% of the film being perfunctory along the way to one "big" scene. Some of the characterisations are wildly, wildly off (I won't specify who) and the plot-induced stupidity is constant throughout.

There was laughter from the audience at several points. And not the good kind of laughter either.

And my hype just died lol.

First review from a trusted source and it was not what I was hoping to hear. I will obviously make my own opinions tomorrow night but now I'm worried.

I am completely ensnared by writer's block. The posts I was going to make are devoid of any narrative value; they're just filler to slog the story forward. I need a hook, like the Mary Jane date or the future Flash Museum break-in. Something that makes me want to write these posts. I'll meditate on it further.

I won't pretend I've kept an open mind about Batman v. Superman. The purpose of trailers, ostensibly, is to give you a sample of the movie, and that sample was more than enough to make my decision. I personally didn't care for the style/tone of Man of Steel, so I had no interest in a second helping. That said, I do feel bad for the DCEU fans who did have their hearts set on this thing. As a Spider-Man fan, I just went through this two years ago. I know that pain, and I know what it's like to be such a big fan that you can forgive flaws others find inexcusable.

I haven't given up hope on Suicide Squad. It doesn't look perfect, but the DCEU doesn't need perfect right now; it just needs a solid win, and I think Ayer can deliver.

At least with Age of Ultron only two characters really needed the character development. That's the good thing with all these heroes having solo movies before they got together (With the exception of Widow and Hawkeye).

@Eddie Brock It happens. Sometimes you have to churn out some filler to move things along. It's obviously not ideal by any stretch of the imagination but the perfect is the enemy of the good. Better to put out a post you're not enamoured with and keep things moving so that you can put out better ones later on than get paralysed by writer's block.

A second helping doesn't do BvS justice, sadly. The tone of the movie is more in keeping with Watchmen than it is with Man of Steel. I really, really want to have good things to say about it but there isn't much to praise. Except maybe Jeremy Irons.

How is she supposed to know that? Threaten her kids she will try to break you and so far she's had very little evidence that you're one of the good guys.

@Natty Upto Red are all easily visible, I can read FireBrick but I kinda strain and dark red is pretty hard to read.
