You could have the disturbingly upbeat person, like a Moira Brown (Craterside Supply, Fallout 3) who is an endless mystery in how one can be so chipper living in a crater in the ground? Everything is just a stream of happy coincidences while they are blissfully unaware of any evil machinations from large corporations, skating through their life until they wind up on the train to Anchorage because she got lost and took a nap in the wrong cart.

...or just go angst. I hear Red Star has a thing for shooting children's puppies. Go with that.

What kind of happy do you want? This is a post apocalyptic, mega corpoaration, mecha RP. It's hard to find anything to be happy about!
Well you could always go the dashing rogue, such as Captain Malcolm Reynolds. They are usually pretty chipper sorts.

This just in, Paragon has made astonishing breakthroughs in bio-engineering! They have been creating Mogwai and handing them out to the populace as a means to bolster their public image and pacify the people with cuddly pets.
But they didn't tell them not to feed the Mogwai after midnight! Dun Dun DUN!

THIS JUST IN:

Denver-Vegas has sent probes into the outer reaches of the solar system, and has found cuttlefish like spaceships that have now awoken and are slowly entering into earth's atmosphere.

In addition, large cube-like spacecraft have began broadcasting "Resistance is futile" while revealing themselves in orbit around the moon.
