@Queen Raidne

Should be all sorted for ya.

I've never actually watched firefly, I was kind of basing it on the Halo Universe. But if firefly is like that, I might give it a go. RvB is definitely worth a watch nowadays, Since season 9 it's got a little bit more serious but those good old recurring jokes coming up. I'm actually starting to get into the star trek universe, I've always been a massive sci-fi fanatic so, I suppose it can only go up from here!

Almost every character I play is an Easter Egg homage to something else.

Also in reference to scope and ability of Intrepid. It is supposed to be. Young rave of space farers don't have the big fancy techno doodads, and haven't yet needed the use of such heavily armed machines. However, I intend to use Intrepid as a repair station for other ships, and spoiler alert, if need be, use the resources on board that were intended to make the resource platform and redesign for a space station. Make a common area for the exchange of technology and information and such while we try to figure out how the hell we are going to escape a lightless deadzone between galaxies.

In regards to the new movies, I haven't seen the newest one yet, but I saw the two previous. I like them. I feel that they are in the spirit of what the original creator wanted to do but was limited by bad acting, low budget, and the technology at the time. And they described the variations in this universe immediately by explaining the duel universe situation with Spock and that's good enough for me! Though, they do perhaps lean a little too heavily on the action sequences in my opinion.

@Queen Raidne Ah it's fine. I enjoy a bit of a good rambling session myself every now and then. To answer your questions, i'm currently undecided, though I'm thinking of majoring in accounting or something similar. I've never used Yik-Yak, but I have heard of it, and I can see how it would be bad if an app compromised one of it's founding principles. I don't do theater sadly but it seems pretty interesting from what i've heard.

As for the RP related stuff, I could probably up the crew by another twenty good men, and maybe one more notable crew member. I personally wanted to go with a weaker class ship, seeing as how we had plenty of cruiser+ vessels. Plus, the "faction" if you could call it that, aren't exactly in the best of positions. They're limited on resources and manpower, and hell they lack any proper or well fitted naval-yards too. If they had anything bigger, they wouldn't risk it on a patrol. That's why its an adorable little frigate, instead of a larger vessel, getting stranded in the middle of no-where.

She may be a little ship with a (By comparison at least) a small crew, but they both got a fighting spirit in 'em. They just need to avoid being directly in the line of fire of bigger, badder ships. Otherwise, you know, they might disintegrate in under ten seconds, and that wouldn't be pretty.

Wow, there are a lot of large-er ships in this. I was thinking that there would be mostly like Frigate class and smaller.

Me, too! My assumptions were fascinatingly disproved. We'll have to form an alliance of small but useful ships in an effort to not die.

Apologies for the slight delay, I was traveling to Cincinnati.

Right. With this many people, I'm officially closing this thread to new applications for now.

~~~~~~
@Hostile Alright, you're accepted! Go post your sheet in the characters tab.
@Ryker Rohrer I mean to have your crew around 7000 or so. And you've definitely assuaged my concerns. And, awww, thanks, you think I'm nice! I like it when people say nice things about me. Chalk it up to personal weakness. :P
@Silentsniper211 Great, thank you. I think you forgot a period in Universe Background still, but whatevs. Accepted! Go post your sheet in the characters tab.
@Skyrte Swords? Color me intrigued. What kind of swords are we talking about here? Japanese? European? Ceremonial or battle? Do you secretly have a wall of your (house) that is just swords from top to bottom? I've never gotten into swords beyond thinking that they were fun, and could be a practical application of study should I be accidentally sent back in time. And also that metallurgy is exciting. And that I wish I could blacksmith things, but that would be a rather large diversion from my current life. Were there ever women blacksmiths, historically, anyway? I have no idea.
Woah, that's a heavy universe background. I like it!
Anyway, you're accepted! Just be careful that the nanotech and the like doesn't become OP.
@Master Crim Well, you know, you can do some great writing and artisting tomorrow. :P God, do I know the siren's song of procrastination. Things I've learned you cannot procrastinate on the hard way:
  • Research Papers
  • Greek masks for a musical that you're costume designing for
  • Watching online lectures prior to studying for exams (FRAKKING GO TO CLASS I CAN'T EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH SERIOUSLY)
  • NaNoWriMo
  • GM'ing tabletop roleplaying sessions
  • Career Fair preparations
  • Dates (Well, it depends on the date, but still, you need time to make yourself look nice. And maybe wash your absurd lengths of hair. And style it.)
  • Afterprom parties.
Yay, a MAC! Hello, Halo! Okay, so it's not Halo and I know it but still.
Question: what race makes up the crew on your ship? Is it the L1Z1X or some human coalition?
@Spybuster Ha. Ha. Twenty Good Men. Haaaa....
I really hated him in that show. Good acting, just like the guy who played Joffrey. Some people I liked: Tyrian, the Khaleesi (that's gotta be misspelled), Khal Drogo because abs, (interestingly) Tywin Lannister because strategy, and Marjorey (God, that's an even worse misspelling) because she was marvelous at everything and vaguely attractive. Honestly I didn't find any one woman on that show compellingly attractive, but maybe that's just me. Oh look, I'm rambling again.
@Flamelord "Trade Order?" *Immediately thinks of T.E.C. in her head.* Advent? WAIT OHMIGOSH I WAS RIGHT. Haha! Marvelous! I was just playing Sins earlier this week! I'm a Vasari girl myself, but I always find myself drawn toward evil factions. It's just too entertaining to suck planets dry to nothingness.
Anyway, you're accepted! Go post your sheet in the characters tab.
I really enjoyed it, which surprised me somewhat. Normally I'm not sufficiently entertained by RTS space games to stick with them for long periods of time, but it's had staying power.
I'm excited! I can't wait to see how our mix of ships bounce off each other. We'll start on Monday at the latest, but it's quite possible we go as early as Sunday. It all depends on how quickly how many people post their sheets to the characters tab (which will be my way of knowing that you're ready to go).
It is the L1Z1X (Lazax) , whom are like an Origin race, and mostly mechanically augmented/enhanced.
Medieval and pre-medieval battle swords. Pole-weapons ain't too bad either. Armor is great.
I do recall that female smiths did exist, but they made smaller items such as nails, chains, maybe horseshoes. I've not found references to women forging weapons or armor though, aside from making gambesons, but that's not smithing.
One of the major disadvantages of the nanotech drones is their weaker armor and structure. That's only if something hits them though, they are rather agile.
Something interesting about myself: Summer camp 10 years old. I ran along side a pack of deer in the forest. To this day I look back and think of that as my Tarzan moment.
Ship Name: The Wayward Step
Universe Background: The Wayward Step was birthed from the complicated regions of the Jorgo Galaxy. Three coalition groups represent a wide range of alien races, each equipped with their own quirky peculiarities. These coalitions originally made an agreement to work under one governing body, but the intricacies of foreign system policy became too convoluted to navigate through. They decided to orchestrate a galactic war on the hope that they could downsize "troublesome" cultures, while simultaneously reshaping Jorgo's politics into a more uniform sovereignty. Long story short: They got the war they wanted, but not the preferred outcome. The coalition's war plans had somehow leaked into the net. Not to mention other shadier details behind their sinister schemes like catastrophes that were thought to have been caused by terrorist nations and war mongering aliens. The leak became the fuel that would set the entire galaxy ablaze. Jorgo would soon eat itself up from the inside out. The Wayward Step and its crew are the only known survivors to have escaped from their galaxies massive implosion.
Crew Complement: 12 crew members.
Ship Description:
History of the Ship: It once had a name. Before it was chained down by The Exalted Hands and grafted into a vessel for science. Before it was called The Wayward Step, it was free and cognizant - roaming land, sea, and stardust on its own. Revered by many civilizations as a mythic creature, the all-thinkers of The Guidemasters carved out its soul and made it into their ark from Jorgo's destruction. Yet, in the end, they were not chosen to be saved. Perhaps it is the divine will of the Wayward beast. A karmic justice for those imprisoned by the Exalted Hand. We, who suffered through their despicable tests and agonizing experiments. When our galaxy was ending all around us, The Wayward Step somehow released us from our bonds. We escaped into its mouth and ventured away from oblivion, never turning back. - Shipleader Nilu
Don't worry, the other factions will know the embrace of the Unity in time.
Oh, and story mode. Coming this next expansion. Promise. (Ignore that they said the same thing for Rebellion)
@Algorhythm I said I closed the thread, but I forgot to, you know, actually close it, so I'll let you apply anyway.
And the closest I've ever gotten to deer was seeing one outside my window 2 feet away. You definitely win the "adorable deer" award. Did you have berries or something to attract them, or were you just that naturally deerlike?
or are you secretly a druid #DnDIsReal
Spaaace whaaaalle (yay!). Reminds me of Farscape, a little bit. And of voidhawks from Peter F. Hamilton's Reality Dysfunction. Anyway, I like it! Tiny, tiny crew complement that you may want to consider buffing, given how other ships have crews of 1000's. Totally up to you, though.
You were definitely more close to deer than I was. I was like 7-10 feet away, and when I was running with them, it was only for a couple of seconds before they bolted into another direction.
Whoa!!!! Crazy that you mention that. I randomly went into a bookstore a couple of days ago and bought Hamilton's The Dreaming Void on a whim. I had no prior knowledge of the author or his books and just wanted a Sci-Fi novel to read. Haven't gotten around to reading it yet.
I think I'll bump the crew number up to around 100. Thanks!
Peter F. Hamilton is my favorite author! I highly recommend his Commonwealth series; it takes place before Dreaming Void (you don't have to read one to get the other) and starts with Pandora's Star.
