Pokemon: New World

Welcome!

This fan based RP was born in the depths of 2016's Autumn. The leaves were falling, and Pokemon Go had just hit the market. Since that day, we have grown steadily and have developed a strong core group of writers. Sometimes we take breaks due to life, but we always come back, because we all love Pokemon, and we all love writing.

In short, this RP is like a giant blank canvas. Our members drive the plot, create the settings, and control all the characters as far as the eye can see. "Pokemon: New World" is a living breathing community, self-sufficient and ever changing. Anyone can join and bring something new to the table.

As this RP has grown, and life has demanded more of my time, I came to the realization that I couldn't manage this RP alone. That's where @Dusksong comes into play. Dusksong has dedicated a massive amount of effort to this RP world (more than myself at times). This earned her the title of Co-GM. She currently keeps track of all the continuously updating statistics via an off-site document. It contains all the officially approved content created by our members:

I have also given Dusksong the permission to create a new RP thread on the Roleplayerguild site that will eventually replace this one. BUT, until she declares it finished, everyone should continue to post on this thread. However, you can (and should) reference it's manual whenever you have a question. You will be catching your first Pokemon with a free Pokeball. In fact, you can add that to your inventory now. And you will only be able to catch the lowest form of a Pokemon with 3 stages.

Also, you can only catch Pokemon that have their type(s) covered in that locations available types. For instance, Bulbasaur is not available as a starter Pokemon because it is also a Poison type and that type is not found in this location.

I'll restate all this clearly in the original OOC posting. I'm still working on it now. When I finish it, I will create the opening IC post. After that, all approved characters will be free to explore!!!

It'll probably take me a few days. I'm not busy for the rest of today. So I expect to make significant progress.

After much editing, I have finally completed everything needed to get this RP rolling. Your characters have both been approved and inserted into the opening OOC post. You can begin posting IC whenever you like!

I need to take a break. I may or may not post a character sheet later today. If I'm feeling frisky, I may even get my first IC character post up in the next day or two.

Regardless of how much I write, I will always try to log on at least once or twice per day in order to read what everyone has posted. That's when I will edit everyone's 'Official Stats'.

Some Updates!

I just expanded a little on the opening letter to people that will be discovering the RP in the future.

I also added some much needed lore that will help make this RP more real and interesting. You can find this new info in a new section right under the opening letter. You can also find two hiders with fun bits of info under the 'Organizations' and 'Trainer Points' sections.

Let me know what you think. And feel free to edit your character sheets if any of this added lore effects your character.

No worries! It should be fun, but it's cool that you're not into Pokémon RP. I'll leave you out of future updates on this RP.

I'll still be sure to include you if I have any other good RP ideas.

Seems pretty nice. The only thing I found a bit weird are the Trainer Tiers, specially the bit about which pokemons you're allowed to catch. Putting a Magikarp at the same tier as a Haunter and a Farfetch'd on the same tier of a Dragonite seems a little odd.

I'm not sure if I'll be joining this one, as I'm possibly about to join one extra RP (as well as creating a sub RP on the last one you tagged me into), but I wanted to point this out, as I'm not sure if it was intentional.

You make an excellent point! I will reevaluate tiers. I'll get that other RP up and running after this one is in full swing. I'll leave you out of future updates in this RP though. Thanks for your help! Talk to you later!

That feeling is to be expected in an RP of this nature. Over time you will get used to the ambiguity and hopefully begin to revel in the freedom to do whatever you like.

At the moment, we are all unable to adventure any further than the areas described in the IC post for Central City. But if you check your character's "Official Stats" located within the first OOC post, you will find a handy dandy item. (I guess May's parents were looking out for her after all.)

Walk around Central City. Talk to neighbors. Explore the caves and the mountains. Meet as many Pokemon as you like. Maybe even try to encounter one of the other trainers. Take as much time as you like picking out your first Pokemon; each post you do in the mean time will earn you at least one Trainer Point. And always remember to revisit your "Official Stats" in the OOC post often, I will keep it up to date as well as I can.

In the future, I will add events. But I will always want the joy of exploration to be enjoyed just as much as chasing after hard lined goals.

Some More Updates!

Not only have I recently added some much needed lore to this RP, but I have also taken some suggestions into mind, making some changes accordingly.

For starters, the Pokemon tier system has been tweaked. It still may not be the best thing in the world, but I believe that it is just what this RP needs. It is simple to understand and makes absolute sense... for the most part. The new tweaking has made more Pokemon available to all us beginners.

After hearing confusion over the battle system, I decided to re-write the entire battle section of the first OOC post. I cut out some of the fat, making it more streamlined, while re-imagining some of the more core elements. Please take a good look at this section, especially if you plan on battling a lot when this RP is alive and kicking!

In fact, if you haven't read the opening OOC post in the last two days, I suggest you give it a second look over. Much has changed. Hopefully for the better.
