I'm afraid I may have to drop, at least for a little while. Between immigration, commissions to assist with living costs, and trying to make time to spend with my boyfriend and his stupid work schedule, I really don't have a lot of time to myself, and my spark to create Carmen the mad genius and his thermite canon of death has kind of waned. I may be back in the future, but until the dust settles a little more, don't expect to see me much.

@Raijinslayer At least it was easy, but yeah sometimes that happens. Usually my professors tell us when they need to cancel a class but one time one didn't because it was a family emergency. Hope the professor has a good reason for it, especially if it's a long drive for you to get to school.

@SpinnaHave to take the VTA for hour and a half transit there and back, so yeah, it's frustrating. Got an email of apology(no explanation, just an 'I'm sorry'), so little less so, but still felt like my time was a bit wasted.

So, in Oregon there's a measure (Measure 97) on the october/november ballot to introduce sales tax of 2.5%. Now, that may not sound like a lot but it plans to generate 25 million dollars for Oregon. However, this tax would likely be passed down onto the consumer. We do not and have not had sales tax in Oregon, so this would be a pretty drastic change for the lives of people. Thoughts?

@HaltingBlooper Hm, I'm no economist so I can't say. I'd have to know more about living expenses in Oregon to say for sure, but we get by with a 5.75 percent sales tax just fine in my state, so maybe it'll turn out well?

Ours is 5-10% depending on the bracket.

@Akayaofthemoon I'm really sorry to hear that Akaya, nobody will blame you if you take all the time you need. It's awful that you have to be going through this, it sounds like it's been going on for a while. I don't have much, but maybe I could try to get some money together and send you some so you could take a day or two off of work?

That is really sweet but work seems to keep my mind off things. Plus my boss will be on maternity leave soon so I have very little time left before I am on my own with my group.
