Are there specific time mentions? Like is it officially evening/nighttime or just do w/e?

Also, if anyone on Route 9 is interested in battling, I can have Morgana ready to go and issue out a challenge to everyone in the (shouting) reach.

Honestly you can hang around on the route for as long as you want. So it's up to you whether or not you want to just simply get to the next destination.

While you can rush past routes easily, it's not nearly as fun.

EDIT: For reference, time of day in the RP should be Noon right now.

I thought this might be a problem.

And basically...

It passes as quickly as you like, honestly. If players meet each other along their roads we'll pretend enough time elapsed between.

I'm thinking Mega-Arceus. Nothing changes except Arceus gets a gun and can shoot you.
