@HushedWhispersTentatively Rhoslyn... ?

If there's one thing Rhoslyn does well it's playing the part. Rhoslyn's on the record as thinking Julianna is naive but she's also not stupid enough to publicly announce it to Julianna's fiance and those gathered. Someone from the Slibah royal family has to actually play the part of a diplomat.

That said though Rhoslyn considers Julianna to be naive, so too was Rhoslyn once upon a time so I wouldn't say Rhoslyn is an enemy to the future queen.

@Fabricant451 Of course, not saying that she is an enemy or that anyone especially is for that matter--except maybe her rivals and the Prince of Abhainn, haha--but that doesn't make them friends either. But she does seem to have plenty of motivation for the moment to play to Julianna's side.

If I may, why the prince of Abhainn?

@Legion02 Maybe I am recalling incorrectly, I just thought that he was less than pleased about the betrothal? He said he'd rather continue the fight than have the peace. He hasn't done anything outwardly against the marriage yet but he certainly doesn't want it.

I may be mistaken and did not mean to step on any toes. (8

@The Valkyrie Oh no no no, no toes stepped on mate! Not at all, no worries. Now that I think of it, William really would act hostile against Julianna so what you said makes sense.

Oh, good! I just didn't want to infer anything that you hadn't implied--and I'm one of those over-thinkers so it is known to happen! I'll be interested to see how the relationships change from the start as things get in further. It is easy to dislike someone when you don't know them well; likewise, every rose has its thorn(s).

I would have added that Jack was on Julia's side but... I feel like Jack is always on a special side of his own. For Jack, By Jack (I feel like I just came up with the title of his autobiography)

Who are we waiting on for a post now? I can't really proceed quite yet. Not trying to rush or call anybody out but I have high hopes for this roleplay. :)

I'll be working on a post answering Amaryllis! But that's just between me and Mudblood so I'm guessing you're waiting for someone else.

Don't hesitate to write your good relationships. Your favorite NPC best friend character etc. Jack needs some gore fodder for..Uhh...character development.

@Bishop Jack wouldn't dare kill anyone significant in Abhainn... would he? I mean that's just handing the anti-marriage faction the guns to shoot down the whole peace.

If Jack kills any member of the rival kingdom openly and directly it wouldn't go so well for him, king or otherwise. I mean, he kind of has no power in this territory since you know. Kingdoms.

My bad, it most definitely is my turn to post! I'm packing to go back to college for Saturday, so my life is a little crazy at this very moment, but I'm looking to write the post tonight after I get a good hour or two in packing.

And yeah, haha, loyal-to-a-fault child soldiers and whatnot aside, it definitely wouldn't be a good idea to kill anyone from Abhainn seeing as, y'know, they're surrounded by Abhainn's guards and army and borders.

No worries. :) I hope you do not feel rushed because that was truly not my intention. But do take your time. :)

Julianna would still marry Maddox anyway. Haha.

Well you guys seem to not get the point. If anyone ever dares to touch Jack there will be war. He is a rash man and if he gets into one of his tempers he might outright declare war during the wedding day. Now someone who wants peace will not punish Jack and might turn a blind eye to the death of some of his countryman. But there's also the question, does Jack really want peace? Was the reason he accepted the contract and came to Abhain just to see the marriage fulfilled and peace upheld?

But is also depends on how badly does king Maddox want peace.

@HushedWhispersJust wanted to ask on some of the Abhain kingdom rules and politics. Do they have slaves? Do they also trade with overseas kingdoms? Have they had recent terrorist attacks that claim that war is the way to go and don't want peace?

What Jack doesn't seem to get is that declaring war while within Abhainn's borders would be the stupidest thing he could do. He's rash but he shouldn't be stupid. Doing something so rash and openly hostile while in the heart of the enemy kingdom is basically asking to have Jack be taken to the gaol at best. Would he declare war and make a run for it? That would be like going into a police station and shooting a gun in the air. What king would turn a blind eye to a madman murdering his people and saying "WAR'S ON!"? If he really wanted to declare war, it would've been a stronger message of intent to refuse both the wedding and showing up in person. There's no really good scenario for Jack if he murders innocent foreigners in their homeland and/or declares war while a guest of a sovereign nation. Kings aren't above the law when they're not within their own borders.

Increasingly it seems Rhoslyn is going to have to be the one that does the duties.

@Fabricant451 You must've misunderstood me. Jack wouldn't just murder people outright and declare war. If he does murder people and then he is punished for it while depending on the situation and how it might seem "unjust" to him, he might threaten the other king with a possible declaration of war. What I want to get at is that you have no hope of locking him up in prison for some crime he does.

And if he is "stupid" or no depends on the point of view. He doesn't value his life highly as long as he achieves his goal. Stupid he is not, mad on the other hand? Yes he is...some of the time. And you can't reason with him when he is "mad". If you read the flash back on my post you should understand.

And I'm saying that a king that declares war while being punished for crimes is going to be disappointed when war doesn't happen. Sure he might have some loyalists, be it out of fear or something, but what's to stop Maddox or other Abhanian types from putting Jack in confinement for crimes? "I'll declare war if you put me in jail" is a rather empty threat given this particular circumstance. Jack has several moves at the moment, few of them good, but that really shouldn't even be on the table here.
