Personality: Ruby comes off as cold or distant at first glance, but really she's just an awkward girl who isn't good at social interactions. She's blunt and to the point, because that's the way she thinks she should be but realizes often times that's not how people would like her to be. Ruby tries to be kind though, often doing favors for nearly anyone if they just asked. This was how Ruby gained a few friends, but she never really put in the work to try and make them better so it often felt more like they were acquaintances to her. Before coming to The Grand Magisterium, Ruby would have been content with staying her family's smithy (preferring blacksmith work over people) and not interact with the rest of the world unless she had to or her sister wanted her to, but now that she's here she wants to try to improve her social skills as she realizes with her new found powers she can't live a life of solitude, not if she wants to master her magic.

Bio: Ruby was born into a family of renowned blacksmiths and was raised mostly by her father, grandfather and older sister, Mary Jane, as her mother had died of a heart condition when Ruby was young. Her family did their best with raising her and Ruby grew up in a loving home. Ruby kept mostly to herself growing up, preferring to stay and try to learn from her father and grandfather, unless coaxed out of the house for an adventure by her sister. Ruby would still be in her family's home if her powers hadn't come in.

Ruby had been at a dance, at her sister's request, and had been leaning against a pillar, away from some of the dancing. She had just finished a dance with a poor soul that had asked her to, and by dance, it was more of a game of how many times could Ruby accidentally step on the poor boy's feet as they moved around. Ruby was wishing that she could just disappear when the floor underneath her suddenly gave way. Ruby fell into a dark...space, slowly just kind of floating there. Ruby was stunned for a moment until she realized she couldn't breathe and quickly looked around. She saw a light above and was able to swim up until she was back in the dance room. Startled at what just happened, she fled the party, heading home in the night, more surprised to find she could see perfectly well in the darkened streets. When she got home she told her father and grandfather, and eventually her sister what had happened and when they saw the Sigil on her back, they knew what had happened.

It didn't take long for the Magisters to come. They explained to Ruby what was going to happen, and while Ruby didn't want to go, her family convinced her it would be for the best, as they were unequipped to help her with her powers. So Ruby packed her things and with a tearful goodbye, left for The Grand Magistrum, vowing to herself to make the most of what was to come.

Sigil:

It's located just below her neck on her back.

Ability: Ruby has Umbrakinesis and with it, she can do:

Shadow manipulation: Basically she can manipulate shadows to look different. She can make them bigger or smaller, can turn a man's shadow into a beast's and so on. But the more drastic the change, the harder it is to do and it gets harder to keep up over time. There are also times when Ruby can't manipulate the shadows and nothing happens to the owner of the shadow because their shadow is being manipulated. So essentially, all this is good for is possible scares and so Ruby can be the best shadow puppet champion.

Entering shadows: Ruby can go into shadows and stay there. Its like it's own little pocket dimension that is only limited by how big the shadow is. Ruby can only enter if the shadow is big enough and she can't breathe inside of a shadow so she'll eventually have to surface for air. Also if the shadow moves she'll be moved (think if she's in the shadow of a buggy and that buggy moves she will be taken along for the ride unless she gets out) and if someone shines a light on the shadow to make it disappear, she will be forcibly ejected from the shadow. She can not manipulate the shadow that she is in and she will cease to manipulate a shadow if she enters it. She can bring other people into the shadow with her if the shadow is big enough. (I would like to have Ruby gain the ability to breathe in the shadows over the course of the rp)

Shadow balls: Ruby is able to take a shadow, ball it up and throw it at something or someone. The shadow itself is something a bit harder than a snowball when it comes to density and the bigger it is the harder it is for ruby to throw. Probably won't cause more than a bruise unless it's very big at a very close range.

Night vision: A passive ability that allows Ruby to see in the dark. Oddly enough her Night vision is better than her normal vision.

Note: Ruby's powers, with the exception of her night vision, will not work in total darkness. There must always be some light around for her to use her powers.

Name: Adezain Veasatt

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Appearance: Adezain is a slightly taller than average, older than he looks 19 year old male with brown hair and blue eyes. He's on the leaner side, having come from a common family, and ensuring his siblings had enough to eat. He has a soft face, and his skin is on the lighter side despite being a farmer.

Bio/Personality:
Adezain was born to a family of farmers on the edge of civilization, in a small town to the northwest. He grew up as the eldest son, having five smaller siblings. He only received a basic education, then it was to the farm to help his parents. He was a well socialized individual in his childhood, growing up to be selfless, caring, and protective of his siblings, following the teachings of a local god, Vymos. Vymos was the deity of balance and protection, and his teachings were easy enough to follow, making him Adezain's favorite out of the pantheon. He wasn't the strongest guy around, nor was he the fastest, but he could do the job and that was good enough, never really excelling or wanting to excel at his job.

During one summer when the monsters were most active, some in the town called it bad luck and others called it the will of their gods, several children had gone missing. Including two of Adezain's siblings. Distraught he joined the search party to find them, days later he and the search party found them hiding from a six legged wolf like creature several meters tall. The children ran out of their hiding places to the search party, but they were too far away. The wolf monster detected them and began sprinting towards them. It didn't take long for Adezain to realize that the search party would be too slow, and a sense of doom washed over him. It had taken them days to find the children and just as they had found them, they were about to be taken away. Adezain begged Vymos to help them, but he didn't hear any answer. Instead his exhaustion washed away, replaced by an electrifying thrill, he glanced to his fingertips and found that small jolts of lightning were dancing between them.

Adezain held out his right hand and a bolt of lightning shot out towards the creature, striking it right in the side, surprising it and stunning it long enough for the search party to reach the children and fight off the monster. Adezain quickly embraced his siblings as they expressed their admiration for their big brother, thanking him, but he knew that Vymos must have had a hand in their rescue. While embracing him he noticed a mark on his right wrist, pulling back his sleeve he saw the symbol now etched onto his skin. The young farmer concluded that he was chosen by Vymos himself, and that the mark was Vymos' call.

When they went home he gathered his family and told them around his sigil, and what he believed it was. He had heard of a place far away, a school of magic. He reasoned that if Vymos would give him his gift, then he should do his best to learn how to use it. Adezain's parents gave him their blessing, and over the next few days he prepared himself and packed for travel. He left the town and soon came upon a traveling Magister. Adezain showed the Magister his sigil, and the Magister took him under his wing as his student as they traveled back to the Grand Magisterium.

Sigil: Adezain has a symbol made up of a crescent moon attached to a circle, in the middle of the circle is a dot. The sigil is located on the underside of his right wrist, with the crescent pointing towards his palm. The sigil itself is small, and easily missed.

Ability: Adezain carries the spark of lightning control, a magic he calls The Call of Vymos.
Currently he only has a very low level electroreception, and a shock that is only a little more than an annoyance with pitiful range. Though Adezain has a good idea of what he can do in the future, drawing inspiration from the Mythos of Vymos, where Vymos himself can transform his mortal body into a bolt of lightning to travel great distances. In the legends Vymos is even seen covering his body with dancing coils of electricity, blades of bright lightning coming out of his fists. Adezain has these goals in mind, and he has no doubt that as he attempts to reach these techniques, he'll discover more along the way.
