I totally get catering the lesson to individuals. But my professor was spouting nonsense like "boys like sports, so assign them lessons with sports examples. Girls prefer to learn about other females, do let them spend a lot of time on the suffrage movement."

-cringe-

That's fucked up yo.

Don't try to rationalize it with biochemistry, you are who you are.

Edit: Also on the "gaming is mostly a guy thing", not only is that stereotype getting increasingly false, it pretty much already is completely false. Roughly 47% of gamers are female. I suspect though that a majority of them don't advertise their gender because the gaming community is incredibly hostile to women for some reason.

Gender is so easy to change I don't see much of a point attaching stereotypes and treating people differently.

Also I want to make a distinction:

Sex - Biological reproductive makeup

Gender - The sex you identify with regardless of biology

Strangers get the same treatment from me, male or female, but if I want to put my dick in a woman, of course I'm going to act different towards her. And in ways I'd never treat a man, naturally.

Reading this post it feels like I phrased it awkwardly but I don't know how to improve my wording.

Another odd thing that made me think on this subject was that one study said that 0% of males in the study felt like the woman should propose to the male and almost all women likewise agreed. I personally had no issue with it in the slightest is a woman proposed so I thought it odd that I'd be in the 0% of men who felt that way.

Source your facts.

He wasn't concerned, and it kinda looke like you were invalidating his opinion in favour of your own.

On a second watch through I noticed that more specifically they said 0% didn't want to be proposed to by a women, but there were a bit more that said men "should" but not definitely. At least I think that's what they meant by this.

Their sample size was unreasonably small, their not scientists, it wasn't a study done in like... A professional environment.

Do you have an actual source?

e: And they didn't even source their own study. wtf.

It's mainly that it's highly traditional that men propose to women and not the other way around, at the very least in the US. I don't know of any large scale scientific researching saying stating this, but I've rarely seen anything to the contrary of this tradition.

The issue isn't with your beliefs, it's using an untrue claim to try and push them as fact.

That's all.

I will admit, I treat the genders a little differently.

I tend to ah, give the 'fairer sex' a bit of the whole... gentleman treatment. I'll hold open doors, pull out chairs, offer help where I can, so forth. Mind you, I also have the habit of watching eye candy, so... fair trade? Idk, I just was raised to be polite and the boys of the family, well, those were the sorta values instilled in them. Don't hit women, treat them well, hold open the door, etc etc.

But I'll hold open a door for a guy too if he needs it, I'll help older men where I can. *shrugs* I might punch them in the arms sometimes and stuff, but, well, ya. More of a 'one of the guys' thing than treating girls or guys differently. If a girl was in that group, I'd punch her arm too, of course... usually gets turned to an ass slap?

The biggest thing I do notice different is... Well, I want to sleep with girls, duh, so I'll treat them a little more politely cuz, hey, points for that ; P But I'll talk with men and women much the same way. I'll flirt with guys, sure, but its more just being a tease more than anything. *shrugs*

Otherwise? I don't really treat them differently. So, yeah.
