Later the same day...

Notices, messages, scrolls and plaques, all were set and posted along bulletin boards and public gahering spots, in taverns and at the docks. The capital of Syrdenon was abuzz with gossip and talk about the newly posted request by the king. A call for brave souls to travel to the northern unclaimed territories, in search of the fallen light, promising a reward of 250 gold coins to whoever brought whatever the fallen thing was, or at least proof and news of it, back to the castle.

To give an approximation of how much gold is worth:

In Palagria, a full set of high-quality chainmail costs around 400 silver coins.

In most nations, people of common birth or low social standing rarely ever have possession of a single gold coin during their entire life, unless they're very frugal and thrifty.

Roughly speaking, you need about a 150~200 gold coins to purchase a decently sized estate, with a mansion, stables, servants quarter and hire on staff for it.

Basically, the guy who gets the reward is pretty well set for a long time. :P
