@Yam I AmPosted sheet for approval. Sorry I don't have a map MS-painted up, but I can do that later. I hope my territory description was fairly specific.

Nevermind, I posted a draft of my map. The furthest territories away from the coast are more sparsely populated/controlled as I mentioned.

I wonder if Ronto might have some Confederacy Pathfinders, and vice-versa. Also, what’s Ronto’s opinion on slavery? The Confederacy does practice slavery, but in quite a ‘gentrified’ sense, where slaves are taken into a family whilst being unpaid labour- probably one of the nicer places to be a slave, but still a slave.

I could see that, honestly. The reason tribals are so valued in the Pathfinder corps is because of their experience in living off the land and understanding the local natural surroundings better than the city folk; Ronto would find Confederacy Pathfinders valuable for Pathfinder operations outside of their territory because of that assumed experience.

As for slavery, Ronto generally opposes it - I think their opinion on this gentrified slavery would be advocacy against it, but not to an outright militant degree unless the Confederacy threatens Ronto. Their policy of non-interference and occasional support of First Nations peoples would conflict here - on the one hand, they're trying to right the wrongs of the old world Canadian government, but, on the other hand, slavery is something they view as fundamentally wrong, so... it's a bit of an open question. Honestly, I see that question as someone to be debated in Ronto's parliament - if it were more openly egregious chattel slavery, however, there'd be calls for war.

A lot of Confederacy troops have that base level of 'living off the land' expectance too- it's a requirement of the Turtle Warriors, and because a lot of the Confederacy's soldiers are drawn from its more rural regions and then trained at Bonfire Base, they come with that rough-living experience. Seems like there could be tons of interesting opportunities here. Also, what's Ronto's navy like? I've mentioned that the Confederacy has one for the Great Lakes (since they view themselves as the rightful owners of it,) does Ronto have an equivalent?

And, yeah, the Confederacy is actually against chattal slavery- they know people aren't animals, but equally speaking, there's an element of entitlement. If you're weak enough to be beaten and captured, you're definitely not deserving of the same standing as the Confederacy's citizens.

slavery before the time of Chattel is still bad but not as bad compared to well you know. actually, the status of slavery on the east coast has never been touched the Consortium practices but mostly serves as trader rather than retainers of many slaves.

@Irredeemable In regards to the Navy, Ronto has a pretty large riverine and lakebound fleet, mostly for defensive purposes and protecting trade. Blue water naval stuff is mostly handled by PageMaster's dudes, which actually exemplifies something that's fairly common in Ronto - one of the ways they've managed to be so effective is through smart delegation, even if that means passively delegating an unofficial 'job' to another nation-state. The Red Devils, for example, operate fairly independently, and much of the army, which it has a command structure, emphasizes ability to operate independently yet cooperatively, because of the way I have the Canadian military going guerilla when the Americans invaded.

As for defeated foes, Ronto's policy could be described as fairly light, barring treatment of US government personnel and especially egregious raiders. Lots of them get firing squads. Negotiating with an organization like the Enclave, in that it tries to represent the pre-war US, aren't so much an unlikelihood as much as they are an impossibility. It's shoot to kill or prison camps for them. For other people, though, there's a lot of 'forgiveness' offered, and unique cultures that have joined Ronto (such as some tribals in the Southern Ontario region) are given votes and all like you might expect, but they're encouraged to keep their own cultural identities intact. Ronto's policy towards conquered people or groups that accede to them, then, can generally be described as this; "they've survived this long. We'll help where they want it, but they must've been doing something right."

I think that would be a (if not the biggest) point of contention between Ronto and the Confederacy, barring debates over who has rights to Southern Ontario. Ronto might generally respect multiculturalism, but the country is still generally pretty certain that it's got morality figured out. Sometimes that's for the better (I'd argue it is in the case of opposition to slavery), but sometimes it's for the worse.

New York's "foreign" policy on slavery is probably just as compromised as its ability to reach. Like, obviously no slavery where it can be enforced. But New York isn't going to be picking fights with slavers to liberate things if they don't have to.

A key thing to note is probably its relatively healthy Railroad network. Synths moved between DC and Boston probably often settle there, and I can imagine the New York government giving refuge and shelter for the Railroad while also rooting out Institute covert operations. This would probably extend to "regular" slaves too.

I see New York less as an official body going around freeing slaves but more like a permissive environment for folks like the Railroad or a Followers of the Apocalypse type group to grow and base out of.

Like New York medical faction. I'd be happy to collab some time on that with Maine.

Yeah, the implication on that is they're an NPC for everyone to use (that's why they're a faction, not like a component of government.) Figured I'd just write up the actual sheet. But they would definitely be in Maine.

Obviously you'd write them like, say, the Followers of the Apocalypse... probably not going to have doctors kicking down doors and shooting people in the face.

I'd like for you to talk with @Crusader Lord about it, since I think that they would have the most push and pull over the Brotherhood in that region. There may be a few things that need ironing out with in regards to the lore involving ex-Brotherhood members being involved in the ranks of the Reavers, but otherwise I think the concept ain't half bad.

@Yam I Am
I'm basing them on the Reavers from fallout Tactics, so most of what I've got down is in regards to them working with the Midwestern Brotherhood, and most of which is cannon, we just don't know what happened to them afterwards (All of the backstory I wrote from Ties of Blood onwards is conjecture), but It definitely will affect @Crusader Lord's RP, so I'm open to discussing with them. As I understand it Crusader is running Lyon's brotherhood, the Eastern Chapter? There's a 80 year or so radio silence from the Midwestern Chapter to both the East and West Coast chapters at this point, so we should probably talk about how we want to resolve that.

@Andronicus23Did you have specific plans for your scouting Synths? I don't want to intrude, but I'd love to have Ronto approach the Institute for help improving crop yields, especially as they'd be sending out Pathfinders and diplomats to make contact with other wasteland factions. There's also the sheer number of radio transmitters operating in Rontonian territory (compared to the rest of the wasteland), and while I can't imagine getting great reception at all, they'd probably at least be able to notice the noise at night - or bump into some Pathfinders!

Honestly, what you just suggested is pretty much my plan. If anyone is interested in contacting The Institute, they could have a Synth arrive at their territory or otherwise learn of them/bump into their representatives and then through the Synth contact The Institute. I can write for the Synth, or you could CC them. Either way is fine.

The Institute has such a small out of the way territory, I figured this was a good way to enable contact and get a network with larger nations going.

I think I'd prefer to do a collab, when it comes to first contact, and especially with Synths - I'm not especially comfortable controlling people from someone else's 'nation', even with explicit permission.

Fair enough, we can certainly do that.
