Terauchi Temple

~ @AzureKnight (SHI, HIN & ATS), @Enkryption (CEC & CRL), @The Irish Tree (EUL & LIL), @Rezod92, @Restalaan (SKA & GRI), @Crowvette ~

The next morning arrived and things were still peaceful at Terauchi Temple. They ate breakfast as normal, but they noticed that the refugees seemed a bit wary of the taskforce as they interacted. It appeared the noises from the scene of last night did not go unheard, even if the damage was completely repaired. Still, there was not much to be done about it now other than move forward.

Ayu has returned from Komatsu Bay along with a notable prisoner, the Amethyst Prince Na'kratz whom the taskforce defeated a while back. "Heyo, taskforce! I know it's a bad idea to haul this all the way here, but Lady Kyouko's forces haven't landed in the port yet so leaving him there with some militia is probably the badder idea." She reasoned. "With everyone here, any escape attempt he makes should be thwarted. Not that he can do much missing an arm. But even then, do be careful around him if you want to talk to him."

Shizuka Kannazuki had risen earlier and was nowhere to be found. So was Takeshi Oja and Revuel Arvida. Perhaps the three were somewhere in the temple discussing some matters.

Ayu has returned to her duties, supervising the temple and looked quite happy to have returned to her normal routine. She was open to a talk if any taskforce member wants to.

Na'kratz was immediately handed a task to bring supplies to and fro. It was cruel to make a one-armed do heavy lifting, but this casual cruelty probably paled to the cruelty he had inflicted upon the innocent until now. His route was always within eyeshot of everyone to make sure he was not alone as much as possible. He didn't seem to be planning any escape anytime soon and taskforce members can talk to him if they wanted.

Most of Takeshi's peers had all gone to Castle Kaneda to prepare for Island Lord Hideo Oja's rescue. They now await the taskforce to join them before starting this daring operation.

There was little sympathy in Cecilia’s line of thinking, once the word had gotten around. Having lived the life of a chess piece, the rules were simple: Put the King in check. And, honestly, what was a prince, if not a King? By watchful eyes, the one called Na’kratz was guarded at every turn, but Cecilia was specialized in finding those that were watching, and where they weren’t watching.

"In check, in check..." she told herself, as she looked down Carroll’s iron sight, and focused on the prince, a man once held in high stature by a culture she did not understand, nor cared to attempt to, "Simple-as, simple-as..."

Cecilia leveled the rifle, and followed him for a moment. "Three... two..."

A tight squeeze, and the gunshot rang out in the early morning.

Na’kratz fell in the next second, a pool of blood starting to form around his abdomen.

Checkmate.

Cecilia cleared her rifle chamber, and caught the shell casing with her hair. "Through-and-through shot. No vitals hit," she says, relaxing from her stiff sitting pose in a distant tree that oversaw Terauchi Temple’s main grounds; Carroll balanced on her right knee, butted against her right shoulder, stabilized by her nondominant arm.

It wasn’t as good as a bipod on a flat surface, but Shizuyama wasn’t Salvarsion, and beggars couldn’t be choosers.

In didn’t matter, in any case, as the gunfire was probably so foreign to the backwater that they likely thought whatever Deity they lathered with prayer had struck Na’kratz down for their safety.

That worked for Cecilia, since her backstory was never something asked of her, it would keep her from being a suspect in this all - as far as the common folk were concerned. Shizuka, Kerry, Liliana, Eula, Gringor, Skarsneek, Atsuha, and Hinami knew different, but... would they truly care about her crippling someone as dangerous as she assumed Na’kratz to be?

Cecilia assumed not, as she swallowed the shell casing, and transformed Carroll back into her normal sword form, slipping out of the tree.

"What should we get for breakfast," Cecilia asks.

I don’t know, honestly.” Carroll “shrugged”.

"I’m sure there’s probably leftovers. Oh, we could try that, uh, green tea, Kerry told me about last night," Cecilia says.

Green tea? The only color a tea should be is black.” Carroll scoffed.

"Oh, c’mon. It’s worth a shot. It’s gotta be better than just water," Cecilia says, before Carroll would form herself, "They might even have coffee here."

Ah, the better tea,” Carroll purred, before stumbling, as Cecilia hip-checked her. “Oi, oi!

"I’ll take no slander from you about tea. I make great tea. I’m predisposed to doing so," Cecilia says, tipping her hat smugly.

Ugh, vanity is what you are predisposed to,” Carroll says.

"Well, excuse me, princess..." Cecilia huffed.

Glad you remembered!” Carroll says, smugly.

"As you forget which of us is queen," Cecilia smirked.

Puh! Only because of your homeland and its silly game rules! I’m true nobility!” Carroll shot back, flustered.

Cecilia snickered, and bumped their hips again, "Whatever helps you sleep, princess."

You always have to get the last word in! Mad Hatters are so insufferable!” Carroll groaned, throwing her hands up.

Merrily bickering, the sniper and her spotter would stride back into Terauchi Temple, and seek out breakfast - perfectly ignoring the chaos unfolding.

Skarsneek of the Red Hill

"Hey, a little warning you idiot!" Skarsneek ears rang with a lingering whistle as he hissed, hands cupping it.

As he looked at the limping Na'kratz, Skarsneek blinked momentarily before realizing what she did to him. "You injured him? You actually injured him?! How's he supposed to work now?!"

You kill him AFTER he's tired and done, not at the start! He thought angrily as he examined the wound. It wasn't fatal but it was still a wound.

A traitorous voice gleefully pointed out he can watch him die slowly and laugh. The logical one agreed, no point in helping. Never mind the medicine wasted to help an enemy. It also spread terror and fear.

Skarsneek shoved all that to the sides, the thing that mattered now was the big picture. There was no room for short-sightedness.

"Patch this idiot up!" Skarsneek pick up Na'kratz under his shoulders, causing more work for him to do. It didn't matter if it hit any vitals, the sheer rumors that surrendering means execution or maiming was going to burgeon out of control.

If this gets, no, forget it. The whole town knew by now. The doubts that people surrendering to them in hopes of being spared was sown, already, he can imagine just how much more the normal rank and file Varjans would fight harder or surrender less. Same also with more of the other Shizuyamas.

Gods, he rather Cecilia just murdered Na'kratz instead of wounding him now. At least that would've been consistent.

The goblin had to drag Na'kratz to where Ayu was, hoping that the wound was a clean one rather than a messy one. At least the healing would take less time.

---

Gringor of the Ironhide Tribe.

Gringor winced at the sound, wondering just what it was? A spell? The hanging smell also had him curled his face and snorted.

The commotion made him look at the fallen sorcerer as he rubbed his ears. Smelling the iron tang in the air.

"Soft." He huffed at the injured Na'kratz, completely dismissive at the violence. How was it that the lazy monk was tougher than the armored boi?

Still, with shrug of his shoulders, he turned towards the blacksmith first. Already looking to take care of his newly acquired armor from those heavily armored bois. It was completely damaged in some areas but he managed to scrapped parts of it and hopefully, be able to add onto his current armor.

For now, he hefted the large shield that he acquired from the Iron Grinder captain. Testing it out as he swung his axe and used the shield in tandem. He was still unused to the shield but it was a solid slad of metal. Using it as a weapon was something he can do.

Recalling how the Iron Grinder fought, he copied it as best as he can but most of it remained irrelevant. Gringor noted that it fitted a stabba rather than a choppa.

He'll have to figure it out mid-way of the battle then.

His nose then picked the underboss scent, and nearly everyone gathering. Already, the pheromones slowly flowed from him. It was coming, another fight.

With that, Gringor headed to the temple.

Terauchi Temple

~ @AzureKnight (SHI, HIN & ATS), @Enkryption (CEC & CRL), @The Irish Tree (EUL & LIL), @Rezod92, @Restalaan (SKA & GRI) ~

A day passed with the taskforce members settling personal matters. The only incident being the Amethyst Prince Na'kratz's close brush with death from Cecilia's sniper shot. Fortunately, Liliana was there to administer some quick healing magic to keep the Varjan prisoner alive while Skarsneek took him to Ayu for further treatment. While abuse of prisoners was normally considered inappropriate, no one exactly sympathized with an Amethyst Prince, a Varjan caste known for depravity and debauchery. Thus, the matter stayed more or less quiet.

The next morning, Takeshi called for the taskforce to be assembled in the main courtyard. As they moved, some members would be stopped by certain people.

As soon as Shizuka and Revuel ran into each other, the spellcaster immediately voiced his thoughts. "I sensed powerful magics yesterday, Sir Shizuka. I hope the talk you had with him went better than I assume?" When Kerry passed by, Revuel stopped and followed her with his glowing eyes. Narrowing as the Hornet went, before continuing. "She... The child is no longer with her." He then glanced at the azure swordsman, his expression exasperated. "...This group of monsters is probably the most I am weary of." The ex-Warlock then walked away and let Shizuka continue on to Takeshi.

Meanwhile, Skarsneek and Liliana would be approached by Ayu who put a hand on her hip. "I know Takeshi called for all of you so I'm gonna make this short, that Amethyst Prince Na'kratz wants to see you. Probably has something to do with taking care of him yesterday. The good kind of 'taking care of', I mean. You can go see him after Takeshi and all, if you're interested in seeing him that is." The woman removed her hand from her hip and assumed a concerned face. "You two be careful, okay? He may be missing an arm and severely injured, but he's still an Amethyst Prince. He's over at the medical huts." Ayu then waved the monsters goodbye.

Once the taskforce was complete before Takeshi, the young lord would immediately speak. "As you all know, much of the local allies we have recruited have gone ahead to Castle Kaneda to prepare for our father's rescue. I hope the taskforce is done handling their businesses because I'd like us to join them and finally rescue my father." He declared to the mostly-yokai taskforce. "If we set out now, we'll arrive there by nightfall. I know that castle and I have a plan ready to take that castle with the numbers we have. I will explain once we're all there." Each second that passed with his father in captivity, the deeper his anxiety worsened. A feeling that he wore on his sleeve for the taskforce to see. He wanted nothing more than to ride out and bust Castle Kaneda's doors open if he could.

"Are there any questions?"

Shizuka awoken and washed early, as he usually did. He ate lightly, as he felt that Takeshi's call would be accompanied by...busy work. As he made his way to the young lord, he was passed by Revuel, ever the weary. He showed concern over the strange sorcery he sensed coming from the yōkai last night. The bulk of it in particular stemmed from the fact that they could no longer sense the child that Kerry was carrying. Shizuka didn't quite understand the implication, but he at least understood Revuel's unease.

However...

”Revuel-san...” He began. ”I too, no longer sense the child. But, let's not our unfamiliarity with yōkai biology get the better of us. I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation, and I trust that they've simply found a way to keep the child in a more secure location. At most, it would be best to ask Kerry-san and Cecilia-san themselves as to the whereabouts of the child. But, I believe it's best to worry about that later.”

Shizuka eventually made his way to the courtyard, and sensed that the Hangai Sisters would be arriving soon. He imagined that Skarsneek, Gringor, Cecilia, Kerry, Liliana, Carroll, and Eula wouldn't be far behind either.

"Why not ask me right now?"

There stood Kerry, wide awake, dressed and fed for the new day...and very much no longer heavy with child.

"I laid my daughter last night and Cecilia sent her away to a safer location. That's ALL you need to know, Rev.", she spoke in a slightly offended tone with narrowed eyes, implying she heard the warlock's comment. "So let's not fall back on old Varjan habits and jump to a conclusion, hmm?

Giving Revuel a passing stink eye, the hornet made her way to the courtyard, joining Shizuka. She'll have to thank Atsuha later for thwarting Cecilia from beaning a rock at ex-Varjan's head. No one wanted to deal with that first thing in the morning.

Gringor of the Ironhide Tribe

Gringor marched to the temple, ready and waiting for the orders. Eyes glancing to the others and making a note of how the air was different as his nose picked up multiple unfamiliar scent.

Most of all, was this aprehension smell. It was different, from one that was about to go into a fight, at least from his experience.

Still, it didn't seemed like it matter to him anyways as he looked at Takeshi before huffing at his question. Signaling that he was good to go at anytime.

"I'm told your son stands shoulder to shoulder with yokai. As he tears apart my Varjan forces."

"At least he's doing one thing right."

"Heh... Oh, you pretend we are different. But we fight for the same thing; To create a legacy that outlives us."

"I won my legacy with duty and honor. Maintained order and integrity to my home. And justice for my people."
"You are nothing like me."

"Neither is your son, but his name is bound to your legacy."

"Legacy is more than a name."

"Ah, true."

"Your clan has ruled this island since... its founding, yes? Your ancestral castle was damaged during our... visit. But repairs should be done by now."
"I think I'll be staying there, while I leave you here to starve to death."
"Alone, without honor."

"..."

"...Damn it. What is he planning?"

Castle Kaneda Outskirts

SHADOW OF THE YOKAI (ACT I FINALE)

~ @AzureKnight (SHI, HIN & ATS), @Enkryption (ALI & CRL), @The Irish Tree (EUL & LIL), @Rezod92, @Restalaan (SKA & GRI) ~

After their agreement, Takeshi and the taskforce made their way to Castle Kaneda. On the way, Takeshi made sure to use a road that could behold the entirety of the castle. The sun had begun to set, but there was still enough light to see the entirety of the location: The main castle was situated upon a steep plateau with a long and wide bridge connecting to a smaller fort situated on another plateau, but with far more forgiving slopes. The fortifications still looked Shizuyaman, which meant the Varjans had not dug in that deeply.

"You guys see that fort? That's the main gate to the castle and for most people, the only way in or out." Takeshi pointed as he began relaying his plan to the taskforce. "I'd love to just spirit my father out of the castle inconspicuously, but I know it's not gonna be that easy. And besides, we'll need a proper stronghold for our resistance against Varjo. That's why we're gonna take Castle Kaneda in one fell swoop."

"The Varjans will likely execute my father once the attack on the castle starts. That is why I will need two teams. One team will need to be frontliners and the other team needs to be a tad more sneaky. I'll let you guys start deciding which team you belong to..."

---

Night had fallen long ago when Takeshi and taskforce arrived at a small abandoned farmhouse just outside Castle Kaneda. The Shizuyaman warriors that the taskforce had assembled in the past weeks were gathered there, and they had bad news for the young lord.

"My lord. Lady Kinkakuji and the rest of our troops are not here." Kageho immediately reported. Indeed, Kikyo and the Shizuyaman warriors that fought alongside the taskforce in Terauchi Temple were not there.

"What?!"

"They were not here when we got here, and we have no idea where they could be either." Nobutada spoke next. "We tried looking too but..."

Takeshi's heart fell. Not only was Kikyo missing, so were the few troops they had. Confusion came with doubt as the young lord's resolve in his plan was tested. "Damn it, Kikyo. Where are you..." He whispered. Without the numbers, how could they take the Main Gate and made sure they wouldn't be trapped in the main castle, much less take over Castle Kaneda completely?

"Should we wait for them?" Kazenosuke asked.

The young lord clenched his fists and inhaled before answering. "No."

"Everyone! It's time!" Takeshi walked outside the crowd of warriors to properly address them. "Tonight, we free Lord Hideo Oja." He declared.

"I was told we would have a small army on our side." Takamori mused.

"They're not here... but we can't wait any longer." Takeshi replied before laying out his plan to everyone present. "We will all split into two forces. Well, three but-- Let me explain: The first team will attack and take the Main Gate. They will make sure the Varjans don't send any messengers to call for help, and have a path open for our retreat if things get too difficult for us. However, the first team will wait for the second team's attack before attacking themselves."

"The second team will scale the castle's plateau and capture the bridge by taking the lower courtyard. The night should be enough to cover your stealthy entrance and if I know anything about the Varjans, most of them are probably asleep at this hour." Takeshi pointed to the mountain's face, covered in ledges and stubborn branches. "The lower courtyard contains the main armory and barracks though, so be careful. If you can, eliminate any sleeping enemies before starting a full attack. If need be, the first team can cross the bridge and assist the second team."

"I will join the second team in entering the castle's plateau. However, I will instead infiltrate the main keep and find my father. Once the attack commences and all the Varjans are spread out, I'm fairly sure me and my dad can clear the whole place of Varjans." Takeshi smiled overconfidently. "If everything goes smoothly, Castle Kaneda will be completely liberated by sunrise."

"This sounds like suicide, young lord." The old Yurine remarked. "We're missing half our numbers. Are you sure this will work?"

"...It has to. My father is counting on us." Takeshi finished. "Now, who wants to go where?"

"I suppose I will go with the first team." Nobutada started.
"Count me in too." Takamori was next.
"These old bones can fight but not really climb, so I'll be with the first team too." Yurine piped in.

"I suppose it's only obvious I'm with the second team." Kageho said.
"Hopping around ledges should be fun." Kazenosuke chose his team.
"If you fall, don't expect me to catch you." Sorae responded, joining the second team.

They would wait for the taskforce to pick their teams. Of course, the mostly-monster force can be a little disobedient and attempt to join Takeshi himself.

Once that was done, this ragtag group of warriors would begin their daring rescue of the Island Lord.

Skarsneek and Gringor

"I'll do the sneaking." Skarsneek said, arms crossed with a grin. That was his forte after all, much to the snorting of a High Orc.

"Gringor will go straight." Gringor huffed before looking at Nobutada, finally seeing the lazy monk get up. "This time, Gringor will smash, then you go."

The High Orc remembered Nobutada strength, and this time, he was eager for another rematch. At least, in using his strength.

With a wave of his hand and roll of his eyes, Skarsneek joined the second team. "Well, hello my friends. Let's do our best to not kill each other, shall we? At least, not until this fights over."

He ribbed the three Shizuyamans good heartedly, especially Sorae. Recalling the little stint they had in the last mission and feeling a little miffed at that.

Liliana

Floating off alone and barely listening to the ongoing meeting, Liliana would grip Whimsy tightly in her hands. ...She didn't get it back from Cecilia directly, but rather from Whimsy flying back by herself. Liliana was an idiot, sure, but even she had moments of overthinking. Was Cecilia not returning it because she'd already left?

Stop thinking.

If everyone was already leaving...what was she supposed to do?

Stop thinking.

Maybe if she ran to the shore, she could still make it-

Stop thinking.

Liliana would practically decide her team with a coin flip, winding up standing amidst the group bound for the first assault plan. So far that consisted of Nobutada and Gringor, the usually chipper fairy uncharacteristically quiet as she held her sword against her like a pillow. "Whimsy...I'm not alone as long as I have you, so please don't go away."

With quiet hesitation, Liliana braced herself for whatever this plan required, only for her to see a ghost that shouldn't be there. Alice was standing next to her, seemingly talking as she always had. Liliana was sure of it. She'd gone so crazy that she was imagining that Cecilia was Alice again. Or maybe she was just coping and imagining Alice was here to fight with them. Either way, Liliana's mind had no choice but to shut everything else out and shrink down to hide in a flower until it was time. ...She just had to stop overthinking and keep her promises. That's all. Hiding amidst a half-bloomed flower, she would hug Whimsy against her chest as she waited for the start of the operation. Maybe while the second team took the tower, she'd have time to piece herself together again...and see Cecilia, like she promised she would.

Eula

With the talks finished in private, Eula would take up her desired team, believing that her speed and ranged capabilities made her a match for the stealth operation the second team was carrying out. But, to her surprise, rather than Carroll and Cecilia, their unified state, "Alice" walked among the task force once again. A miracle, or just a temporary sacrifice, Eula couldn't be sure...but she was sure that she saw Liliana shrink away somewhere upon seeing her.

Even if she was more in touch with her own emotions now than when she arrived, Eula still didn't understand why the fairy was hiding. But it also wasn't something that she thought she should intervene with. For better or worse, what was going on here was between Alice and Liliana. As such, Eula would give a quiet nod of acknowledgement to Alice, and Carroll as her armament. "We'll have to strike hard and fast," the automaton said, flicking her wrist and transforming it into her demonic energy stun gun, leveling it, checking for any signs of instability in her aim before changing her hand back. She hadn't engaged in combat much with Skarsneek or the three Shizuyaman warriors, but hoped to be effective at this blitz tactic approach.

"Consider me on the first team as well. With my speed, I can help anyone on the battlefield and cut off any Varjan reinforcement they try to make. Plus, my spears don't do well in close corridors.", announced Kerry, the recent private talks lighting a fire within the hornet to see this final mission done...as well as seeing an old face.

Alice had made an unexpected return, to the surprise of everyone. While mostly a welcome reunion for some of the taskforce, Liliana's reaction was...concerning, to say the least.

Then again, that fairy has been through a lot these past few days., the former merc thought to herself. Hopefully, we can keep an eye on her. Would absolutely suck if we fumble at the line now.

Castle Kaneda Gate Fort

SHADOW OF THE YOKAI (ACT I FINALE)

~ @AzureKnight (ATS), @Enkryption (ALI & CRL), @The Irish Tree (LIL), @Rezod92, @Restalaan (GRI) ~

The moon hung dimly in the night sky as the assault team took their position under some tall grass a bit of a way outside the main gate to the castle. Had there been more of the attackers, or if one of them was just a foot taller, they probably would have been noticed by the watchtowers. Fortunately, that was not the case and the defenders remained oblivious to the human-yokai team planning to strike.

Takamori's eyes could see a bit in the future, but such sharp sight also let him see farther than the average man. From a distance, he scouted the daunting gates of Castle Kaneda's main entrance and reported his findings to the rest of the assault team still hiding in the tall grasses. "We have a couple of archers in each of the two watchtowers on the gate's flanks. We also have a few Brigands and Footmen patrolling. If there is anyone inside the local barracks, I could not see."

"We also have to mind the armory and the stables inside." Yurine asked. "There could be enemies inside them, unlikely as it may be."

"The gate fort is... lightly defended, if I'm to be honest. At least, from what I could see. I only saw Brigands and Footmen patrolling. The larger warriors are nowhere to be seen." Takamori relayed.

"Perhaps they are simply asleep." Nobutada guessed.

"Perhaps. But if this is the castle where they're holding Lord Oja, I'd at least expect a more elite garrison." Takamori replied. "This is all very strange."

"Should we retreat?" Yurine asked.

Takamori shook his head. "No. Even if it's all a trap and Lord Oja isn't actually here, I do agree with Takeshi that this castle is a good staging ground against the invasion anyway. Terauchi Temple is too exposed and isn't built to withstand attack. Even if our main objectives fail, we'll have much to gain taking control of Castle Kaneda."

Nobutada accepted the reply with a shrug. "Well then, what are we waiting for?"

Takamori smiled, amused, and turned to the yokai part of the assault team. "Yokai. Your kind's really good at causing a ruckus. How shall we disturb our unwanted Varjan visitors' seemingly peaceful night?"

Castle Kaneda Inner Courtyard

SHADOW OF THE YOKAI (ACT I FINALE)

~ @AzureKnight (SHI & HIN), @The Irish Tree (EUL), @Restalaan (SKA) ~

Takeshi led the stealth team to the castle's steep side under the guise of night, showing the others how to safely scale the stony face to reach their objective undetected. Despite having the natural barrier of being placed atop a plateau, there were still walls surrounding the castle grounds and the castle itself. Fortunately for the stealth team, the walls were full of gaps that can allow even someone as sizable as Nobutada to fit through.

In a small open space before one such gap, Takeshi began to explain. "Alright, you guys know what to do. Secure the inner courtyard and castle grounds. Eliminate any hostiles. It'd be best if everything is done quietly but don't be afraid to be flashy if the situation calls for it. There shouldn't be much people in this area, just a smaller barracks and training grounds complete with an archery range." Peering through the smaller gaps, Takeshi saw patrolling Varjans with torches for illumination. "Still, be careful everyone. The Varjans have already underestimated us. Let's not make the same mistake."

"...Meanwhile, I'll go behind the castle itself and enter through the garden. I will secure my father and help clear Castle Kaneda of any invaders." Takeshi nodded before leaving. "Good luck, everyone." The young lord then returned to scaling the mountain face. If any of the taskforce members wanted to join, now would be the opportunity.

Kageho and Sorae then entered the gap with nary a word. "We'll take our places around the courtyard. You just do what you do best, yokai. We'll follow your lead." Kazenosuke said before slipping through the gap himself.

Skarsneek of the Red Hill

Weighing the scales, Skarsneek mind worked as he figured which action was the most suitable.

A moment passed, and he turned to his compatriots.

"I'll hit the castle grounds. Try to take over the inner gates and control them." The goblin made his choice before winking to everyone. "Feel free to join me, ladies."

With that, he slowly snuck off into the gap and moved with the ease of a master-thief. Taking a look back to see who's following before moving out.

Gringor of the Ironhide Tribe.

Gringor listened to the group, eyes fixed onto the watchtowers. Agreeing that it was lightly defended, it looked like a waste of time instead of a proper fight.

Still, the underboss asked to take them, and so they will. Especially when asked on how to start the fight.

"We break-" He pointed the large gates. "Door."

"Or climb that tower." Gringor suggested the more exciting one for him. "Then break the door."

"Yokai. Your kind's really good at causing a ruckus. How shall we disturb our unwanted Varjan visitors' seemingly peaceful night?"

"I don't know. Can you not make a racist remark while we do your job for you, human?", Kerry snapped back, throwing Takamori's remark back at him as she studied watchtowers. "If I deaden the air around me, I can take care of those archers without them seeing me coming. Though, they'd have to NOT see me taking off from here..."

She turned to Alice and Liliana.

"Lili, you think you got a spell that will turn me invisible? And I can take you up with me if you want, Alice."
