Training the skills is arguably more important. Doesn't matter if you're seven feet tall and three hundred pounds of muscle if you can't throw a punch. Train hard, often and well. Train until every strike, grapple and throw is second nature. If you're fighting for your life you don't have time to think about kata and combos or whatever other bullshit. The style doesn't matter. Just focus on making it instinctual. Addendum, actually: that K'un-Lun, focus-your-chi shit is fake and it'll get you killed. Never trust a coach you find at a strip mall. Wrestling or boxing are fine for fighting strangers looking for your wallet but if you're chasing the life, go wider. I had a long, boring deployment in Thailand, so Muy Thai's my base. Pick your poison. I saw a piece in the Times once that said I was 'the logical conclusion of the vigilante phenomena.' Said I was what happened when you took one of those guys like the Bat or the Devil- a monster of muscle, tech and will- and took away the 'moral subversion to lethal violence.' It was sensational horseshit, yeah. But I gotta admit: I kinda like it. I mean, they're batting .500, right? Takes a real tough son of a bitch to wade into the muck with only your fists and Peter Pan boots. No powers. Part of me always wondered how I'd stack up. Maybe we'll find out someday. ◼ Military Service Enlisted in October, 2001. Completed training at Parris Island depot before transfer to Camp Geiger for infantry training. Based on my aptitude scores an instructor recommended me for recon screening. I must've impressed him because he had me ship down to Little Creek for RIP and BRC. More training. More tests. It was more grueling than half the shit I did later. But I came out the other side a Recon Marine. I was proud of it, too. Sent pictures of my buddies and me back home to the family. Deployed with 1st Recon for the invasion of Iraq. Earned a Bronze Star in Fullejah kicking in doors. Bialya in 2007, chasing rumors of Al-Queda operatives. Didn't have the government's permission to be there, though, so they kindly asked us to leave- using a lot of bullets. Helmand River Valley, Afghanistan in 2010. Learned everything from small unit tactics to hostage extraction, interrogation and long term surveillance. Amanda Waller is the devil in a flesh suit. Before I die, I promised God I would plant a bullet between her eyes. Hunting her's one of the few joys of my life left. At central park, she took everything I had left. I intend to return the favor. P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) P L O T ( S ) & G O A L ( S ) ________________________________________________________________________________________ I like Frank. I think he's character with the potential to be complex and multifaceted or brutishly simplistic. Here, I intend to explore a variant of Punisher based partially on his portrayal in the Netflix series: he is a violently traumatized force of nature, intent on hunting down the people he blames for ruining his life. I want to write a political thriller about a corrupt intelligence agency sacrificing normal people on the altar of national security. Since this is a shared universe game, ARGUS seemed like the perfect candidate for that role. Amanda Waller stars as Frank's primary villain, manipulating the world from the shadows. Frank's war against street level crime exists mainly as a means to hunt down connections to shadowy government agents. ARGUS is a kraken with its tentacles spread all across the underbelly of America. It has connections to the Maggia, the Dos Soles Cartel, and even a few cults. I'm hoping to experiment with the format somewhat compared to my previous runs. I want to use the War Journal gimmick to document Frank's experiences from his own eyes. He's a biased actor, and having to get into the mindset of a character like him has been an interesting challenge.

Okay, after a day off and two days of brainstorming ideas for either TMNT or Genosha, I am honestly stuck on picking one because I like both rough concepts that I came up with equally. I'd like to hear your thoughts and see how well they align with the overall story. Based on the feedback, I will select one concept to focus on. If you don't mind, you can review my incredibly rough draft of ideas below.

TMNT, but the Hamato Clan is an integral part of the League of Assassins. [+]

The Hamato Clan dwindled in size, wealth, and influence compared to their peak in the Edo period. But it was their ability to adapt to whatever situation presented itself that enabled them to last into the late 20th century. Hamato Yuuta faced the same dilemma that had cursed his ancestors when a simple offer was proposed by The Demon: join his League of Assassins willingly or be forcefully assimilated.

Whatever honor remained died, but it was a calculated move that had been done countless times centuries ago. It was how the Hamato Clan survived the Sengoku period, thrived during the Edo period, and consolidated its power in the Meiji era. And as a reward for their cooperation, the league granted them greater autonomy and access to resources that were normally restricted to sub-organizations. The privilege wasn't squandered.

>On his deathbed, Yuuta believed he had brought honor back to his clan. He left the world comforted that his sons were destined to usher in a golden age. Hamato Yoshi leads the Hand clan while Oroku Saki leads the Foot clan upon their father's death. Almost immediately, the already existing sibling rivalry intensifies to the point that it begins to affect their efficiency. And it all comes to a head one day.

>The Demon assigns the Hand and Foot clans to monitor StockGen, a scientific research company front, regarding their latest research and experiments. It's there that Yoshi and Saki learn the owners and head scientists, Robert and Baxter Stockman, have developed a mucilaginous substance that enhances any creature's size, strength, and intelligence. Yoshi then discovers and captures a corporate saboteur from a rival firm, TCRI, who gets caught in the middle of wiping out both main and backup data on the research.

>After a lengthy interrogation conducted by Saki, they learned of a hypothesis proposed by Baxter that theorized the mutagen, if modified enough, could mutate humans as well. But it is initially dismissed by Robert. Intrigued, the Demon commands that the hypothesis be explored and grants the necessary funding for it to be presented. The deadline arrives with a promising development. Baxter requests the saboteur as the test subject for the mutagen, much to his father's disapproval. The Demon allows it.

>Yoshi watches in surprise as the saboteur gets covered in the substance and then disturbingly transforms into a humanoid scorpion. Baxter proclaims his hypothesis a success and explains how it combines with human and animal DNA to create a hybrid that does not compromise human intelligence. Saki believes it to be a key instrument to rewriting the world, which the Demon agrees with as well. Yoshi...

>A duel between brothers occurs and eventually ends in the sewers in New York City. Yoshi wins but gets exposed to the mutagen by one of his brother's dirty tricks. He painfully transforms into a brown rat, one that he almost tripped over earlier in the fight. When he awakes, he sees four baby turtles standing over him. Yoshi goes back to the surface in an attempt to contact his clan for help, but it ends with a cop firing on them out of fear and sheer incompetence. Yoshi decides right there and then to rise and teach them via exile.

Magneto, but he finds another way of achieving his dream. [+]

Charles Xavier's dream of assimilation and coexistence was always a foolish, naive notion conceived by a desperate man seeking answers. And when it was put to the test, humankind revealed its true colors in a hideous manner their thoughts of the dream. But ever such the idealist, Xavier never faltered for his dream. His closest friend disagreed and began sharing a more realistic dream, one of subjection to mutantkind as a means to pave the way for the next stage of evolution: the Homo superior. And when it was also put to the test, it not only saw grand-scale devastation but also gave humans ammunition to further spread prejudice about mutants. He realized right then and there that his dream had a fatal flaw.

Magneto left his previous life behind him in order to find the solution to that flaw. Unlike Xavier, though, he didn't have a manor or the wealth and influence to preach to a wider audience. Nevertheless, that did not stop him from trying.

>His original teachings leads other mutants to band together and form a brotherhood. Magneto emerges from hiding to reveal himself to his followers, who vote for him to lead. Fought with Professor X and his X-Men several times. Short-lived. Magneto goes into a self-imposed isolation to recontextualize his dream.

>Time in isolation leads him to the realization that outright violence and conquest will ultimately lead to genocide and the extinction of all mutants. Instead, a different dream is introduced, one where mutantkind must make use of its gift for the sole purpose of survival. Only through formidable might would humankind accept mutants, albeit begrudgingly. Magneto denounces his old dream and soon spreads the new one throughout the world.

After roaming around the planet for a couple of years, news of unrest in the small island nation of Genosha off the coast of Africa. It was how the Hamato Clan survived the Sengoku period, thrived during the Edo period, and consolidated its power in the Meiji era. And as a reward for their cooperation, the league granted them greater autonomy and access to resources that were normally restricted to sub-organizations. The privilege wasn't squandered.

>On his deathbed, Yuuta believed he had brought honor back to his clan. He left the world comforted that his sons were destined to usher in a golden age. Hamato Yoshi leads the Hand clan while Oroku Saki leads the Foot clan upon their father's death. Almost immediately, the already existing sibling rivalry intensifies to the point that it begins to affect their efficiency. And it all comes to a head one day.

>The Demon assigns the Hand and Foot clans to monitor StockGen, a scientific research company front, regarding their latest research and experiments. It's there that Yoshi and Saki learn the owners and head scientists, Robert and Baxter Stockman, have developed a mucilaginous substance that enhances any creature's size, strength, and intelligence. Yoshi then discovers and captures a corporate saboteur from a rival firm, TCRI, who gets caught in the middle of wiping out both main and backup data on the research.

>After a lengthy interrogation conducted by Saki, they learned of a hypothesis proposed by Baxter that theorized the mutagen, if modified enough, could mutate humans as well. But it is initially dismissed by Robert. Intrigued, the Demon commands that the hypothesis be explored and grants the necessary funding for it to be presented. The deadline arrives with a promising development. Baxter requests the saboteur as the test subject for the mutagen, much to his father's disapproval. The Demon allows it.

>Yoshi watches in surprise as the saboteur gets covered in the substance and then disturbingly transforms into a humanoid scorpion. Baxter proclaims his hypothesis a success and explains how it combines with human and animal DNA to create a hybrid that does not compromise human intelligence. Saki believes it to be a key instrument to rewriting the world, which the Demon agrees with as well. Yoshi...

>A duel between brothers occurs and eventually ends in the sewers in New York City. Yoshi wins but gets exposed to the mutagen by one of his brother's dirty tricks. He painfully transforms into a brown rat, one that he almost tripped over earlier in the fight. When he awakes, he sees four baby turtles standing over him. Yoshi goes back to the surface in an attempt to contact his clan for help, but it ends with a cop firing on them out of fear and sheer incompetence. Yoshi decides right there and then to rise and teach them via exile.

Magneto, but he finds another way of achieving his dream. [+]

Charles Xavier's dream of assimilation and coexistence was always a foolish, naive notion conceived by a desperate man seeking answers. And when it was put to the test, humankind revealed its true colors in a hideous manner their thoughts of the dream. But ever such the idealist, Xavier never faltered for his dream. His closest friend disagreed and began sharing a more realistic dream, one of subjection to mutantkind as a means to pave the way for the next stage of evolution: the Homo superior. And when it was also put to the test, it not only saw grand-scale devastation but also gave humans ammunition to further spread prejudice about mutants. He realized right then and there that his dream had a fatal flaw.

Magneto left his previous life behind him in order to find the solution to that flaw. Unlike Xavier, though, he didn't have a manor or the wealth and influence to preach to a wider audience. Nevertheless, that did not stop him from trying.

>His original teachings leads other mutants to band together and form a brotherhood. Magneto emerges from hiding to reveal himself to his followers, who vote for him to lead. Fought with Professor X and his X-Men several times. Short-lived. Magneto goes into a self-imposed isolation to recontextualize his dream.

>Time in isolation leads him to the realization that outright violence and conquest will ultimately lead to genocide and the extinction of all mutants. Instead, a different dream is introduced, one where mutantkind must make use of its gift for the sole purpose of survival. Only through formidable might would humankind accept mutants, albeit begrudgingly. Magneto denounces his old dream and soon spreads the new one throughout the world.

>His acolytes, inspired by his new teachings, seek out Magneto and convince him to end his self-imposed isolation. After roaming around the planet for a couple of years, news of unrest in the small island nation of Genosha off the coast of Africa. Under the leadership of David Moreau, he has maintained a decades-long apartheid state, oppressive towards non-whites and mutants.

>Magneto and his Acolytes use the opportunity to embolden mass protest and a general strike across the country for change. Tension between protesters and police/military nearly escalates to active revolution before much of the Genoshan leadership is subdued. The Republic of Genosha is declared, and the story starts as Magneto and friends formulate a government.
