However, since 2013, these games with each passing year have gotten less interactive, less collaborative, and less concerned with the shared universe element. They became rather isolated, like we were simply using the games to host a few chapters of stories disconnected with one another, with no connective tissue, and strict lines in the sand about interaction and strict parentage. That is not, in my mind, in the spirit of role-play. That aside, yeah, coming into a thread and being dismissive of the fic writer approach isn’t good either. I’ve always argued there needs to be a balance between the two schools; the two philosophies of independent/solo writer and role-player. I know for a fact multiple people don’t even read other people’s posts, so at that point, that is a problem.

Before the exodus of players, I think we did a good job of getting back to that balance. Events in other posts have been mentioned, collaborative posts have brought in different people to conclude situations, and we had a really good pace of play as well. This RP has been the strongest in terms of activity and interplay we’ve seen in a few years, so it is good to see.

Now how that shakes going forward, well, we’ll have to see.

Im of the "I could go either way" catagory. Honestly, its nice solitairing with people watching and leaving feedback as well as giving feedback on other peoples solitairing. But at the same time, i do like the interactiveness. Makes the world feel bigger.

Honestly, its one of the reasons i wanted to bring the Lanterns idea into this. After my first post, there's gonna be 5 rings zipping around Earth, grabbing random people and raising hell. In fact, before Wraith left, i was gonna ask him if he wanted to collab on one of the Luthors getting grabbed by the Orange ring.

Point is, if anyone wants to do any story where one of their characters gets grabbed by a ring, i not only endorse but actively encourage it. Makes the world feel bigger.

I am a simple man. I see a Starfire app that isn't just cloning one of her animated appearances and I hit like.

Just my two cents but if you're wanting to do a massive tonal shift, plus solidify canon/recruit/tidy up would it not be easier to start a new thread with the addendum that anyone already accepted is still accepted?

Addendums: that way if the majority want a JL or a Titans RP... Make it one.

I don't think creating a new thread is necessary and I disagree with it being the easier option. It could kill momentum instead of keeping things moving forward. All that's needed is a Zeroth post that establishes the timeline.

Apologies all, I'm a bit buried under work at the moment, but I think I may be skipping training tonight after a leg lock gone slightly awry yesterday so should hopefully have time to properly reply to everyone and do what needs done later tonight

I think I'm at a bit of a loss where the sudden need to change has come from.

We lost some players, but only one of them was signed on as a gala guest if I am not mistaken so the impact to existing plans isn't dramatic.

We have a new player interested in forming a titans team but that doesn't mean it has to happen today.

I think compiling a list of canon events is a good idea but I also don't think this is a dramatic change to the game.

Shall we not all just....keep writing?

I think a new thread would help a lot going forward, but it can also completely kill the game at the same time. We have been enough of these games to have seen it happen both ways. I have no strong feelings one way or another.

There really is no need to change. I guess some just feel that a recruitment drive requires a new thread for them to join, but we've been actively disproving that by the new players we've had join this week.

And the players that we did lose weren't actually connected to anyone or their stories at the time of their departure except for the Blur and the Luthors, but even that can still be handled within the same thread.

So yeah, I'm team keep writing and have fun.

In all fairness, one of them was one of the major driving forces of the game who posted with the most volume and constantly engaged with other users in the OOC, so let’s not act like we lost anyone unimportant either.

I think I'd love to do something involving Steel and this at some point! Not him getting a ring, but helping the Lanterns out in dealing with the situation around one.

Planning on getting the timeline up tonight! As I say though, the only discrenable events that I think would need to be communicated to new players as of right now is the Fire Troll event and the Luthor bounty on Thor. Unless anyone has strong objections I think it would make more sense to make those who have left's characters non-canon and move forward from there.

I'd be happy to do this if this is the consensus. If people want to continue from where they are with their stories, their first IC post could be a compilation of their posts in this roleplay and go from there? Otherwise I'm happy to continue here. If the group decide to go forward with a new thread I'd want to take everyone's inputs on how we want the RP to function and what the overaching story/goals we'd like to achieve are. Totally up to the group though, if we go forward with a new thread I'm happy to take this on or otherwise help anyone else who think they'd do a better job than my bumbling self

Following on from my last point though, this is my view on the matter also. Things may feel a bit hectic and we're in a bit of a period of transition at the moment, but I have confidence we can keep moving forward, clean things up, and get back on our feet.

Admittedly everyone who has joined has done so citing you for bringing them here. People don't see a 150IC post 2000OOC and think I'll hop in.

I just thought since so many of you are stating wanting a Teen Titans set up the easiest way would be new thread and do a small time skip ahead which would also let people fill the missing spots on the roster.

Honestly, when I get a minute I think I'll send a PM around to everyone individually and see where they stand with creating a new roleplay so I can better keep track of the discourse and give folk an opportunity to voice their opinion in private. Lol this version of Starfire is more meant for the eventual Justice League team, but she does have a storyline planned for her younger brother so there may be a Fire on the younger team yet.

They aren't new people 😅 not really

I'm not necessarily against a new IC, but i do believe it's unnecessary. Also, i think it'll play havoc with people trying to catch up with what's already happened having to go back and forth between 2 different threads. My vote would be no new thread, but it's not a "That's it, i'm done, bye!" if it does happen.
