For generations, the Greek Gods - 15 of them, anyway - have chosen successors for their powers and titles. Such power lying dormant in the chosen few until a time to Awaken them was necessary, should any God be unable to perform their duties or if the Titans were to break free from Tartarus and attempt to take control of the Earth once again. As successors lived their lives, unaware of the true power within them, and yet having a small taste of the power that was within them - whether they were a particularly talented gardener, a wonderful musician or perhaps a most trusted midwife, for example - and eventually died, new successors were chosen. Until now, it has never been necessary to Awaken the successors.
As rumours begin of Kronos and the other Titans' imminent escape among the Gods, a decision is made to draw the successors together and Awaken them at the same time. But the King of the Titans was further along than speculated. While unable to quite fully escape, he and some of the other Titans had their 'cages' weakened enough so that a small amount of their power could be used, leaking out to Earth. And so their successors were also chosen, destined to seek out the Gods' successors and destroy them, before travelling down to Tartarus and freeing Kronos and the other Titans.
And so it was, with the Titan successors able to control mythological creatures, they were able to locate and ambush a few of the Gods' successors, forcing their Awakening earlier than expected.
With an understanding - and a strange voice in each of their heads that explained what was going - and a shiny new weapon granted, the Greek God successors must find those that have already been Awakened, and then locate and find the others before the Titan successors do. After all, they may not be as lucky as they were. But it's also not exactly easy to just leave behind the life they knew and liked, and forced into a destiny (and burden) that they never asked for... and unfortunately the fate of the world lies with them.
