A new High Priest is about to be chosen. Someone to guide their people into a new era. One of peace? One of war? Perhaps adventure? How will you shape this blossoming world?

Setting: In the beginning there will only be one settlement, the wood elves. It starts in a small village in the middle of a vast forest. Behind it is a massive oak tree known as The Pure One. This tree is the embodiment of their deity.

The Pure One: An enormous tree that sits as a focal point in the forest. It can be seen from anywhere from the forest floor to the mountain peaks. It helps the young elves find their way home if they get too far from the village. The tree provides a source of fresh water to the village, the animals in the forest, and the trees themselves. The river that flows through the forest comes from the tree. The tree grows many different fruits and vegetables to provide food to the elves.
Inside the base of the tree, there is a small pool that the High Priest goes to to communicate with The Pure One in times of crisis for guidance. He or she will also go to this place for the choosing of an apprentice.

The people: I was planning on this being a purely elves planet for consistency, however I am open on races but there will only be one in the beginning. Wood elves.

The world: the planet known as Niamh(pronounced neev, meaning brightness and radiance) will be an open world. Those that are not familiar with this term, think Elder Scrolls, EverQuest, Vanguard, Age of Conan, etc. To add to this, the elves will only know their village and surrounding area. There is nothing beyond the mountains surrounding the forest creating a "flat world" of sorts.

Plot: there is no specific plot. I want this roleplay to be as realistic as possible. Character development based on split second decision making. I have a plan to start, but whatever happens after is up to the players.

What we will be doing: There is a lot about this planet that is unknown. A map will be made and as races, cities, creatures, and continents are discovered, the map of the world will fill. The players(you) will be the ones to discover everything. I have everything in that regards worked out already with things being added every day.

There are currently only five "positions" within the village, as things progress, there will be others added to this list:
High Priest/ess: Guides the people of their village following the will of The Pure One. Their word is absolute law. This position is currently unavailable.

Priests: Tends to The Pure One, making sure the tree is healthy and strong. Collects fruits and vegetables grown on the trees boughs. Governed by the High Priest.

Head Hunter: Trains new hunters and teaches them how to work with their companions.

Hunter: They hunt, often from the backs of their furred companions. Governed by head hunters.

Gatherer: Collects herbs and other food from the village garden or the forest beyond. Governed by a group of experienced members.

I had some luck in Free, but I was told this would be more suited for casual so I am moving it over here. Since everything is already ready to go, I will post the Character sheet for you to fill out.

Yeah I actually have a little question. Is there a reason we all have to play as tree-hugging terrorist elves to start with?

At first, it was because I like elves. Now its simply because it makes sense for the area.

So, we aren't allowed to play something other than the forest frolicking barbarians?

Why does everyone hate Elves? What'd they do to you, hmm? Ah screw it, some people will never change.

Anyways, I am here, dear Shurikai. Oh, as is Forsythia. xD

What do you mean 'Some people will never change?'

This suggests I started out hating elves and refuse to see them in a better light. I assure you, the opposite is true.

I started out liking elves, and then I decided that dwarves just don't get enough love. Oh, and that elves are tree-hugging terrorists and choking out character creation options will hurt your RP. You personally liking elves is great. Enforcing the wood loving heathens as the only choice isn't so much. It might make sense for the area, but unless everyone has similarly defined goals, and character arcs have content set (Which happens only after accepting players anyway), and everybody fucking loves elves, you don't really have a hook. Your first line is about the new high priest being chosen. Politics. Otherwise, you've essentially told potentially interested RPers jack dick about your plans to get the ball rolling. Some of the viewers are probably dubious about that. Some just probably don't like playing elves.

But good luck with this I guess.

Now, I would like to say that if you actually read, you would see that the High Priestess is not related to politics and is there for spiritual guidance.
I haven't said anything about my plans because I want people that are interested in the world and what they get to do with it. I actually have this world mapped out. I thought it would be fun for the player to have their people discover what was out there.
Elves are simply humans with pointy ears and strong beliefs and tradition. Is that really ANY different than us?
As for people's characters doing stuff: I dont care. They can jump of a cliff for all I care. Its open world. They can do whatever they want. I mean, I dont recommend jumping off a cliff, but they can.

Also, if you bothered to read, you would see this was started in free. A small effort of research would find you an IC/OOC. With ALL the information. Now I could have just simply linked that here, but what's the point of that? This is an interest check.

Ayleth- heh.

I guess nobody picked up on the fact that I play dwarf fortress. I guess that's what happens when you say something that's definitely *D-rated outside of bay12.

I did bother to read by the way. I lurked in the old thread to find out it was started in free. Looked over the content being posted and realized 'Yeah later is never coming'.

Also, spiritual guidance? Sounds like elf politics to me.

But yes sir that is the point of an interest check. To gain interest. If stuff was already happening, what's bad about linking it to the old thread for reference? Some of us are lazy bastards that can't be bothered with research that isn't already related to our relevant fields of study. You know. Cuz there's a lot of students on RPGuild.

I mean I already knew this wasn't for me. I'm really just killing time here until I go make lunch. But you could attract others with a stronger hook. You don't HAVE to, but you could.

I sure haven't heard if it. I am almost as biased against dwarves as you are elves.

"Later" was dependent of the people that joined. The people in free didn't care about an all elf planet. Well, person, I should say. If they wanted more diverse races, there would be more. Just later.

In my roleplay, politics are unknown in the sense of how we understand them, until later. The High Priest doesn't rule per say, she simply pushes the people in the right direction after speaking to The Pure One in one way or another. There are no.. laws. Except don't get eaten by the Kaldio.

I suppose you are right. I was thinking more on people not knowing the first plot point until they joined. A small surprise.

As for the hook, yeah I know its not great. I would write something more interesting, but between drawing what the role play needed and life, I really havent had time. Except yesterday. I could have totally done it yesterday.

For disliking you initially, you are okay.

Can I have a slightly displaced version of a elf.

There race is very similar to a more savage lands version of a elf(like where orcs live.)

Name: Tayroven Yetterneth

Date of birth(season, day out of 90): Summer, 81

Age: 24

True age(age multiplied by 6): 144

Gender: Male

Position: Head Hunter

Skills: Hunting, trapping, skinning, cooking, tracking, long range weaponry use, fire-making.

Appearance(pic, description, or both): Tayroven is a tall, fair elf with a golden mane and bright green eyes. He has an angular face with thin lips that are in a constant frown and a cleft chin underneath. On his face and right arm are tattooes he had gotten once he became Head Hunter and he wears a mix of leather, cloth and thick bark as armour. He is always seen carrying his longbow along with a quiver tied to his waist, within is always two dozen arrows.
the pic

Personality: Tayrovan is an unusually calm person with patience that seems to never run dry. Coupled with this is his knack for harshness and the fact that he was never seen smiling. He's dedicated to his job, to provide game for his community as well as train his underlings on how to become proficient hunters. Tayrovan isn't a cold person, though most assume he is, in actuality he doesn't find much interest in what the people talk with him about; that by no means indicates that he's solitary or socially impaired, he can hold a conversation, and has been seen to, just as well as any other elf. Added with this is the fact that it takes a great amount of effort to gain Tayrovan's trust, and an even greater effort to earn his friendship -- he considers all his friends as siblings and treats them as such, favouring them above the rest of the community.

History: Tayrovan was born to a priestess and the Head Hunter at that time. From the moment he could run, his father paired him with a wolf cub and they began training. His mother's early death drove him to excel in hunting as a means to escape the reality of his loss. His father, despite himself, was proud of his son's achievements and began taking him on every hunting trip until he was of age. Once Tayrovan proved himself capable, his father stepped down and Tayrovan took his place as the Head Hunter at quite a young age.

Thank you all for your interest, as it happens, I will not be moving forward with this role play. I was only giving it a few days to gather a decent amount of interest and was not able to gather enough and I do not want a repeat of the first time.

I apologize for wasting your time.
