Masamune Gō

"Yup, got them sitting in my room, I'll drop them off later today," the boxer responded to his fellow hero enthusiast with a raised hand. Yet no sooner had he raised it in greeting did his roommate take it in a firm grasp of a handshake. Of course said handshake was accompanied by the usual racially charged grievances,

"Damn, my bad East, I forgot to mention I bumped my regime back a few hours to get here on time. Must have just missed you, " came the apologetic shrug, "I'll make it up to you later."

It wasn't long after that the esteemed professor turned to the room, and, just as absently mindedly as ever, informed the others of the new facilities: A simulation room to allow the students to train and adapt to their new found powers. The amateur boxer's grin only widened at the thought of such a futuristic facility. After all they were almost literally stepping into the pages of a comic book now. For someone like Gō, there was a lot to love.

"We have a danger room? I'm down." Came the response filled with unbridled enthusiasm.

Yet behind his enthusiastic response, there was a more cautioned wisdom. After all the danger room was called the danger room for a reason. It only took a quick glance around the room to surmise that most of his fellow students had likely never been in a single fight their whole lives. There were obvious exceptions, East and Ambrose were likely capable of handling a fight for instance, but on the flip side there were people like Soleil. The girl had just gotten some semblance of sight back, it'd be unreasonable to presume that her powers compensated enough by now to enable her to cope with the minute movements a fight entailed. It wasn't unreasonable form him to presume that he was thus the one with the most active combat experience.

Thus it fell to him to deal with any potential complications that may arise during this preliminary test run. Especially if the others, like Ambrose, decided they wanted to give the room a shot as well. As the oldest member of the team he had already resolved to look after his younger classmates, it appeared that such a resolution would start here.

"Looks like I've got your back Ambrose," came the hearty reassurance to the nervous volunteer, a wide grin still adorning the boxer's face. "Let's have some fun."

Eastwood Evans - The Light of Reason

"What the shit's a danger room...?" the runnin' back asked under his breath, sandy brows furrowed in wariness. He had taken a vitamin a week back and all of a sudden he could move like a bat outta hell and his eyes didn't have to adjust to the brightness on his phone no more. And that was a vitamin to this kraut screwball. Lord on high only knew how crazy somethin' had to be if he was forthright enough to call it a goddamn danger room. "Sounds like it's gonna keep me from feelin' good enough to deadlift tomorrow."

How was he supposed to go struttin' around like Hyperion in the flesh if he took a cheat day? Ain't no goddamn sense in that.

...

Buuuuuuuuuut...

He had already spoken alooooud...

Loud enough for Acheri and Soleil to say he was backin' down from this here test of a man's mettle...

"A'iiiiiiiight then. Let it not be said that Eastwood Trainwreck Evans ain't one to step up and test the minefield for good ol' team morale. I'll square up too."

Soleil Petit - L'Oiseau Départé la Nid

Soleil waved in the direction of Acheri nodding with a small smile on her lips. “Hi Acheri.” She noticed Gō passing by their group and listened to Eastwood grumble about it with his orange voice. She remembered that he and Gō had asked her a couple of times now to time them when they sprinted. She didn’t have a watch and wouldn’t be able to see the time on a phone so she used a metronome. It was actually pretty simple. They just told her when to start counting and she would listen for how many clicks of the metronome would sound off until they were done. Setting it at 60 bpm typically resolved any problems with counting. She didn’t have too hard of a time keeping track of the number since there wasn’t much to look at anyway.

What with her being blind and all that.

Although now she had a fair amount of colours to look at.

Soleil was lost in her train of thought and barely noticed Eastwood gesturing with the arm she was attached to. She had to cling to it in order to avoid falling over. Even being lifted up and off the ground as he did so.

The doctor was the next to address the group. His voice grey, undecided and slightly pervasive. He informed them of a ‘danger room’. Simulations, training, free for anyone to use and he wanted them to test it out.

Soleil found herself nodding with Eastwood as he crumbled to the threat of Soleil not thinking the big tank of a football player was up to the test.

“I think I’ll try it out too.” Soleil said stepping out from behind the massive beam that was Eastwood’s arm. “I don’t mind too much, I think I should be able to figure it out.” Soleil said looking in a direction that wasn’t really towards anyone. "So it's the four of us then?" Soleil said to Gō, Ambrose and Eastwood.

Acheri Solomon: We've Made Worse Choices

"Five."

The (relatively) diminutive half-Hopi corrected, following her current orbit towards the gathering group with a single step forward. The voice in the back of her head that spoke of common sense was protesting, but Acheri wasn't listening. Go, East, and Soleil were going. There was a dose of ego there, refusing to back down while they were stepping up, but there were two doses of enthusiasm for every one. She may not have won the superpower lottery like some people named Eastwood Evans for example but she knew how to fight, which made her (even more) of a minority in the group. The closest thing she had to a crew was going in. Made things real simple. She needed to back 'em up. Besides, she'd been looking for a better way to train, now hadn't she?

She casually unzipped the sweatshirt she had pulled on over her exercise clothes and tossed it in the general direction of the coat hooks, were it caught and hung stably. Which made it look a lot cooler than she'd really expected it to be. Then she reached out with her will, stretching those new muscles again, towards the tethered dimension. It was always an odd sensation; she couldn't see it, but she knew it was there and knew what was in it. It was how she knew where to pull things back from. Like, for example, her hapkido staff. Which wasn't really an example, it was actually what she was retrieving. Once it was in hand she rested it easily on her shoulder, casually surveying the rest of the assembled group with a cheerful, excited, and anticipatory pair of green eyes.

"Can't let you rookies mess up, can I?"

Soleil Petit - Omni Auditis

The Greatest Change

"I think that's smart Acheri." Soleil said nodding, leaving Eastwood's side and rejoining that of her friends. She walked forward and distanced herself from the hulking Texan-born man, placing her hand out directed at him in order to stop him from making sure she walked forward fine. She placed her headphones over her ears and closed her eyes peacefully. A song filled her ears and she allowed it to show her where each sound wave was located. Each breath anyone took while they stood in their imperfect circle filled the space around her with a shading of their surroundings. So much so that as soon as she glanced back at Acheri, she could make out the short girl.

"Don't worry about me either." Soleil began, she briefly traced her finger along a soundwave, which of course looked like nothing to anyone else, but when she touched it she was immediately sped along with it. She was only a few feet in front of everyone else when she had let it go and she glanced back in their direction.

"I believe that I can handle myself." She said, her accent more noticeable than usual. Truly, she was a little choked up. She kept discovering new depths to her powers. First she was granted sight and now this? Now the ability to transport herself through soundwaves. It was nearly too much. But it wouldn't be.

If for no other reason then because Eastwood would have to coddle her, she would make sure all coddling was involuntarily and at her own behest. Those were the rules of the engagement.

"Are you all coming?" She said quieter this time, the ability to use soundwaves as transportation. It filled with butterflies. It was time to test this thing.

Penelope smiled at... well.. everything. She was rather amused by all of this and it would certainly make great writing. It wasn't like anyone would believe her stories about this anyway. She chuckled to herself as she followed the group and eyed the 'danger room' as they seemed to be calling it.

"D-Danger room?" The doctor called out in disbelief. "I... I wouldn't go that far." He stuttered, rubbing the back of his head nervously. At least, he hoped it wouldn't be dangerous. Last he'd checked everything seemed to be running fine. "In any case, in order to reduce risk, I'm only going to let one of you go out there alone and the rest of you will watch, ready to help should anything happen to them." He explained, looking over at the student that was first to volunteer, Ambrose. "Ambrose, go ahead and step in the center of the room. There are stairs to the lower area over there." He continued, pointing in the direction of the stairs. Then he turned to the rest of them, "Over there are the stairs to the observation room. Stand up there to avoid any... stray shots from Ambrose."

The doctor then turned and walked his way towards the control room via the center bridge area.

Penelope listened to everyone silently and followed just as silently. She was never one for speaking very much and if they didn't know that earlier, the group would certainly know it soon. She much preferred simply observing.

"Let me know when you're ready Ambrose." Rohrbach called out, waving at the group.

Ambrose

Ambrose appreciated Go’s reassurance. He walked across the room, and down a set of stairs that was brightly lit by florescent lighting. At the end of the stairs was a sliding metal door that opened as he approached. Must be some sort of sensor, he thought to himself. The room he was in was quite sleek looking. The walls all around him were a bleached looking concrete, and the room looked a bit like something out of a sci fi movie, a huge blue dome adorning the ceiling and glass paneling for viewers surrounding the room. Talk about feeling like a test subject.

Ambrose walked to the center as he saw the rest of the subjects walk in to the observation area. Saw the Doctor take his seat at a control desk. “What’s my mission?” Ambrose asked noticing the acoustics in the place, his voice rang back at him. Looking at the room there wasn’t much to judge off of. At the moment there was nothing going on. It just looked like a concrete bunker to Ambrose.

He waited for Rohrbach’s reply. He closed his eyes and let two hardwood batons form in his hands, he could feel the wood weave itself together like a puzzle that had been undone for years waiting for its owner to return and put all back in its place.

Lux nodded at Rohrbach in response to his thanks, he was under the impression he'd used enough words for the time being, besides why talk when his actions were enough. 'Don't start analysing it' he reminded himself as he returned to his window perch. He watched the others chat amongst themselves and exchange pleasantries...well, perhaps pleasantries wasn't the ideal word. Lux didn't feel connected to anyone in the room, if anything he couldn't shake the feeling that he'd taken a wrong turn, accidentally stolen the real hero enthusiast's thunder 'Should have said 'stop' analysing it' with a shake of his head Lux turned his attention back to Rohrbach and took another swig of water.

'New? Great...' Just the mention of something new caused a ripple of nervous energy to pass through him, instead of focusing on the screen, he started to peel the label off of the bottle in his hand. Confident, Skills, Basement, simulation room, by the time Rohrbach had finished talking Lux had run out of label to peel, fastening the lid back on the bottle he dropped it into his backpack and followed the others downstairs. 'Either Rohrbach's still unpacking or there are big plans in motion' He thought, moving over to study a few of the boxes as they passed by them. 'Elevators...small spaces' Once he was in the control room, his nerves had kick started his battery. Moving to the most inconspicuous place he could find, Lux rubbed his knuckles against his palm, trying to ignore the orange hue coming off of his skin.

Despite his intense dislike of new things, Lux couldn't doubt the genius behind Rohrbach's idea. A safe place to test out their powers, find their limits. 'Cas would be all over this...a chance to figure out what we're going through' Unsurprisingly he didn't hop onto the mettle testing train with the others, especially after Gō renamed it the danger room. 'If the movies are anything to go by...this could get ugly' he folded his arms across his chest and watched on in silence as Rohrbach instructed Ambrose to enter the training room alone. Knowing it wasn't meant to be a group activity and that he could stay back to analyse some of the simulations, instantly eased his anxiety. Which in turn brought his heart rate down and allowed the orange hue to gradually fade away whilst he focused on what was happening in the training room.
