@Lord of Evil Your character seems cool but aren't rift beasts basically immune to fire?

Not immune. They're resistant to most forms of damage save by Talentium or Talentium-modified magic. With enough basic firepower you can take one down, which I imagine is how the first one was defeated before Talentium was discovered.

Correct me if I'm wrong though @ERode.

Asuras is wrong. They defeated the first rift-beast in a dance-off, and it committed sudoku after it lost.

More seriously though, yeah, with enough firepower you can kill it.

Hey wait a second

you can either go classic Talentium-wielding melee dude, a monster of your choice, or the pilot of an ancient mech

Why hasn't anyone taken the mech pilot route?

@Lord of Evil I was planning on it but the mention of "armor is basically useless against rift beasts" and "even gods of war get torn apart" I decided to go for agility over armor.

@ERode - I read through the information on the main page and some of the replies and had one major idea I'd love to run by you - a concept really. I was really adoring the idea of a War God, but wanted to do a couple twists to it. One being that this particular War God is actually human-sized, compact... might have more agility and less strength, I'm not sure. The other being that instead of having a pilot, the body was somehow infused with the soul of it's previous pilot... or perhaps better yet, the scientist/mechanic who designed it found a way to infuse their own soul into it. So essentially the body and pilot are one and the same.

I'm not sure what capabilities that would allow this prototype to have, especially when compared to magic or anything. That's something I'd ask you to explain, if this is even possible or feasible. ^.^

That'd be in line with necromancy, which, AFAIR is something frowned upon. I do know that Gods of War can have inklings of intelligences in them beyond following orders along with other strange properties/magic-esque powers, so I don't see why a soul couldn't be attached to one. I don't think the GoW would have the same autonomy or intelligence as the pilot that its soul previously belonged to, though.

Not the same intelligence? That would be the specific deal breaker to my idea, lol... I'll see what @ERode says though. Perhaps the new form could be constructed in a way that allows at least that? I don't know. There wasn't much history on War Gods, except one reply saying they're sort of ancient... which makes me worry that my idea is a no-go.

As in, I have a feeling the process of having your soul attached to something as "dumb" as a God of War would stifle the ability of the soul to properly commandeer the machine in a perfectly human way. It'd kinda be like viewing through the vision of the God of War, but only occasionally having a message pop up offering the opportunity to have an input for a few seconds or minutes.

That's just what I'm guessing anyways. ERode has final say.

@Lyla
Yeah, Gods of War require a living pilot to guide them. They can be asked to do automatic stuff (e.g punch this mountain until I get bored), but as far as being fully autonomous goes, naw. It's also no longer a God of War if it's just human-sized thing. Their whole schtick is that they can wrestle with giant rift-beasts and cause silly amounts of property damage. But yeah, Gods of War are ancient. No one knows how they were constructed, nor am I going to divulge any of that information early on.

That being said, there can totally be a God of War optimized towards speed. Hell, there might be an NPC one that flies. Talentium can certainly rend the armor of a God of War, but blows that would be fatal for a human would just be a scratch for a God of War. Talentium users can come out on top against these mechas, but that doesn't mean the reverse doesn't apply. Only reason HUMANS don't wear armor is because they don't have thick enough armor to wholly protect their fleshy innards from the length of a blade.

Seriously though, I am sorta stoked to see someone finally take the third option. XD

EDIT: I'll say this though. If you spirtually bonded with a God of War, it may or may not be similar to bonding yourself with an object. e.g a living hell where all you can do is observe as others use you for their needs.

@ERode - It was an idea... I wanted to, but I'm not really a fan of the default option as it were. I was more inspired by the idea of like a War Golem, a wholly self-intelligent type of machine. Which was fairly shot down by everything you said, lol. Unless there's another way of somehow making one, my idea simply won't work from what I gathered.

Just make a golem? Doesn't have to be based off a God of War. I know someone else was/is essentially making sentient lightning.

@ERode - I could do that... but since I don't have any reference concerning golems (not Gods of War), I'm not sure what I can and cannot do? Or should I just... present something? Or talk in PMs? Also, I take it that Talentium can cut through anything? Even other Talentium?

Talentium can't easily cut through other Talentium. But it can cut through pretty much anything else, given enough force.

Just present something and I'm sure someone else in the thread can help you. Gonna eat now. If you want something that has the soul of a human in it, it'll be a vampiric experiment, because only they know how to do necromancy. If you want something that has human-like intelligence in the form of a golem, you can do anything from random sentient lightning to being the creation of some poor lonely mage who just wanted a Pinnochio waifu.
