Human life, the process of millions of years of successive and random mutations giving rise to modern man, a marvel of natural selection. This process occurred as it always did, but this time it didn't happen on Earth as we know it. Another place, another time, serendipity would have it that a system perfect for life in every way came into being. The plum pearl of Jalaryias' crowing rings of asteroids, barren and inhospitable moons, and seven gardens besides. On one of these gardens, not only did man came about, but others too rose from the primordial depths to the heights of intelligence.

On the other sister gardens, so too did life rise to those heights, seven worlds with many thinking beings in a place where the future held limitless potential. Time passed, the children of these worlds squabbled, not all survived. Yet now another chapter has come about, the dream of traversing the worlds has come true. sister Moons, asteroids and the great mother herself are ripe for harvest and now the united peoples of those seven once separate worlds will come to terms as they race towards it, the endless bounty of space.

Explanation
This RP takes place in an alternate universe where Humans arose in a system dominated by the lone large gas giant of Jalaryia and in tandem with several other species(or not, depends on the player's wishes). The backstory of this RP is intended to be created by the players as they write the history of their nations and species, how did they fight? Why? The stage is set for any number of situations, and only you can decide what may come about!

Regarding Garden Races and Non-Garden Nations
Since the scale of the rp is quite small compared to others, we will of course have a limited number of species native to the Garden Worlds, each of the seven garden worlds can host up to three native species at most, or less depending on the player's wishes.

Once all Garden Worlds have been taken, none-garden players will have various options, from playing as a colony of several varieties, from Space Colonies like those seen in Gundam, Asteroid Colonies, colonial settlements on the barren and environmentally inhospitable moons and even floating Installations within the Gas Giant.

Players may also have the option of playing as nomadic fleets and smaller scale factions(such as pirates, mercenaries, terrorists, etc). The overall downside of course is that non-garden players will not be able to make their own species and will have to choose from the current roster set up by Garden Players.

Rules
1. You are expected to post at least once a week, at most, twice a week if you can manage. Any more and you are liable to burn yourself, and others, out and any less and the RP will move along too slowly. If you do not make a post within two weeks with no prior warning I'll unfortunately have no choice but to drop you from the RP.

2. This is an Advanced RP. I expect correct grammar and spelling in your posts, at the very least. One or two mistakes per post is fine, and expected, but if I see ten “teh”s in your post we will have a problem.

3. Please don’t join if you are going to disappear after one or two posts. I expect a certain level of commitment once you join.

So I'm working on my NS, and I'm faced with two options for the Concordat's history.

1) Make my own garden nation and species for them to be an offshoot of. If I did this, I'd probably make it so that the original species is now extinct, wiped out by the Concordat, because I don't want two nations.

2) Make the Concordat an offshoot of someone else's garden species/nation.

I'm really interested in doing #2. Shoot me a PM if you'd like to collaborate on this. Who wants a violent cyborg revolution in their history? :D

I'm considering on joining in.

I'd play as a nation i've created for a future sci-fi setting featuring war, trade and stuff.
The species would be the Schäferkin, bipedal dogs with a violent history. And violent feelings inside themselves.
Their nature is the same as dogs though, so they are friendly unless angered. The violence comes from their history.

So bipedal dogs, potentially warlike.
What's the verdict?

@Klomster Sounds pretty good, you'd actually fill in the last slot for the Garden Nations. You're also welcome to add in two more species alongside the Schäferkin, if you wish to add any more that is.

@Ozerath Option 2 definitely sounds good. Would they be human at first or would you be more open to other options? My nation will be federation between it's three native populations(and a significant immigrant population from other worlds). My main race for the federation would be the Ishkaan, aka Not!Turians :P

I should have a sheet ready by around Saturday myself. Seeing as each garden seems to be capable of supporting more than one species, I may add the fungoids' by now eternal arthropodal bio-engineer friends as well. Though this time I may go for a less monolithic nation than the Coalition of old. Perhaps something more similar to a glorified trade agreement.

Considering how my species probably evolved, they seem to be a slave species of humanity, a human sub-faction or a completely different race.

Whom have lost control of their loyal attack dogs, literally. :P

I can start writing and fill in the blanks later.
As for more species than the Schäferkin, i'd say it doesn't make sense to have other major sentient lifeforms that have evolved alongside them.
I'd also claim that Schäferkin is a very young species. They have overtaken their planet from previous lifeforms. An ancient and wise civilisation so to speak :P
(Don't worry, they'll make sense.)

Pm or thread for putting up sheets for inspection?

@Sigma Oooh Not!Turians! They could be a perfect origin for the Concordat. I'll shoot you a PM.

Great! Then i'll post it here.

As of writing this, if someone wants to use the Tak'a'dis as a species, go ahead, but don't expect to make friends with the Schäferkin. :P
And your civilisation was destroyed, and conquered. So you'd have to live with that.

Also, feel free to have knowledge of the Alpha uprising, since the Tak'a'dis were the prominent species, and was violently overthrown and destroyed in a comparably very short time.
Having previous contact with the Tak'a'dis makes a lot of sense for other species, so go nuts with that if you want.

I strangely don't see any human factions yet.
If that's so I might pick them with a bit of flair. I am fine with not being the only human faction and actually even encourage this.
But I can work out something even if I play as the sole human faction.

As of yet, I have never actually had the chance to properly develop it, which is why it obstinately rears its shapeless head every time space is mentioned. In this iteration, I may opt for Covenant as a name - somewhat pompous, but Concordat is already being used, and I must preserve the continued alliteration in some manner. Plus, it is still using the original purple tank and ship models (despite me knowing nothing about that Covenant besides the fact they are villainous aliens).

Additionally, we may see some more familiar faces, or what passes for them, in the subterranean vaults...

They also kept the name they had gotten from their conquered masters, Schäferkin meaning those who tend to the flock or their own, they found the name highly befitting their nature and use it as a further insult to their old masters.

Ah, and there I was, wondering why a dog-like species would be named Schäferkin...

So so I'm assuming since this is all one solar system and space travel has been around for 300 years, all our nations will already know about eachother?

I'd certainly like the Concordat to be known, I plan to have some of them kicking around just about everywhere. I also plan on having a very diverse population with members of every species if folks don't mind.

The Concordat also offers its super advanced medical services and cybernetic implants to everyone for free to the more impoverished citizens of the Jalaryias system. Of course, people have learned that folks who receive those implants tend to be...different afterwards, so it's a bit of a gamble. Sure, the Concordat can cure your wife's incurable horrible deathly illness, but she might leave you to join them when it's done.

@Willy Vereb ONL is possibly playing as the human homeworld of the setting. Your faction could be derived from there as exiles or such.

@Ozerath Oh yeah, the "system"(more like the orbit :P ) is quite interconnected and everyone is pretty much aware of each other.

@Oraculum I'm very much looking forward to your sheet!

And here it is. I have for the moment remained rather vague as concerns the vaults, but can prepare a description swiftly enough if necessary.

@Sigma I have an idea for a race/planet and I'm wondering if it'll fit.

Alien race X (still a WIP) was once a really proud, aggressive and martial race who eventually began to want to fight with the other races. For a time they were pretty successful but for one reason or another, their enemies became too great in numbers or advancement and the tides turned. Not only where they beaten back, but the Garden world they evolved on was nuked and bombarded to hell that it can barely support life and that the term "fallen from glory" is a dramatic undercutting of its destruction. The race as a whole has gone through something of an existential crisis as their illusions of battle and war have completely collapsed on themselves after their antagonistic run of "solar system conquerers".

If this is approved, I can turn it up to 11 and have them still be at war with someone else who basically kicking them around for shits and giggles at this point with the Race now a dying race whose fighting a loosing war of survival. They have enacted all the things you'd suspect from a run of the mill evil militaristic government like rationing, thought policing, no personal freedoms and human/xenos rights abuses but its not because they're outward antagonists but because that's the only way they're survive for now.

Basically at one point they were space mongols that everyone feared but are now pointed at and lauded as primitive, backwards and unenlightened and are very much on the point of extinction. Proud warrior race that has had its psyche shattered and undertaking extreme measures to keep itself alive but without all of the hate directed towards others that you'd expect to see in a defeated nation/race (ie Germany post WW1).

@ClocktowerEchos I love the sound of your idea :) Unfortunately at the moment we're kinda full on the garden worlds. Although I could make an exception and add an additional garden world if our two missing players report in. One more world wouldn't hurt :P
