Perhaps, although the new system does open up a few ideas I haven’t thought for this before. I do plan on still filling the out of combat utility our group may require.

And this is more of a nitpicky suggestion, but is Dexterity the stat related to the strategic skills? Judging by the current affinities listed, wouldn’t something like Cunning be a more appropriate name?

I was using the first of these to definitions when refering to the word dexterity:

Definition of dexterity
(plural dexterities)

1 :mental skill or quickness
2 :readiness and grace in physical activity; especially :skill and ease in using the hands manual dexterity

I would argue that while "cunning" may fit most affinities better, two affinities make that narrow word feel out of place "White Magic" and "Mind

I guess that's my cue.

Ya'll got it. Not worries. Also, I just awarded you your first 10XP for making your first post on this first page. So you can level up or just bank it for later. Your choice.

Cool. Do you want to increase your Power to 3 or Cunning to 1?

You got it. Also, I updated the "Knight" side quest, since that's clearly where you're headed.

So how does difficulty affect dice rolls exactly?

"Your roll" - "Difficulty Roll" = Result
Win if... Result > 0
Loose if... Result < 0
Re-roll if... Result = 0

Currently, you've got a guaranteed win against difficulty 1 enemy. Ify against difficulty 5. Rare win against difficulty 10.

With that in mind, unless you get lucky, you'll probably have to try quite a few times to win against the knight himself. I have changed the rules at the bottom of the 0th OOC post to allow for double posting, as long as you wait 3 hours between each post. This will aid in grinding without running me ragged.

Also, I've updated the rate at which XP is earned when victorious in situations. I figure a boss battle (even in a Lvl 1 side quest) should earn more XP than it's first minion.

I don't think double posting is something people do IC all that often. I mean once you've posted, you don't really have anything to post about until somebody else posts.

I normally don't support double posting. But in this particular situation, there is a clear goal set out for you in the form of quest details. That can be a writing prompt even when others aren't interacting with your character, hence the "lone wolf" option. But I have no quarrels with you waiting for others, if that's what you want to do.

Wait. Am I supposed to write as everyone if I'm going at it alone? Because I was actually waiting on you. Usually in RPs like this 1, the players write as their character (along with the occasional minor NPC) and the GM writes as the NPCs the players interact with. Do let me know if this isn't the case for this game.

I'll be busy enough with reading everyone's posts, updating their stats, and updating quest details as you all breath life into the NPCs. (e.g. You named the knight, so I added that into the quest description.) I'd rather not respond to everyone's post and control every NPC at all times.

So yeah, I'll only post when a player takes on a "dice roll" situation, to describe the results. Otherwise, you all, as the players, create the story details and control the NPCs.

Ok then. I'll get to work on that. In the meantime, would you mind revealing the 2nd knight challenge? It's impossible for me to fail the 1st anyway, so I'll probably just write about how Durwith steamrolls the 1st challenge and then roll for the 2nd.

I'd rather do the roll anyway, just so everyone is clear on how it is handled. If your winning result is only a positive "1" you won't steamroll the enemy (i.e. if you only roll a 2 against the enemy's 1). In that case, the enemy will surprise you and put up a decent fight. Now if you roll a 3 or 4 (4 due to a possible weakness bonus), then you can steamroll the battle. Make sense?

Hello Everyone,

I'd like to revisit this RP and see if we can't take it somewhere. If you'd like to give it a try with me, awesome! Let me know.

If you don't want to participate, can you delete your character or at least put them inside of a hider so they take up less space?

Thank You!

Awesome! But since you last created your character, things have changed. I've made the game mechanics much simpler so that writting will be the main focus instead of statistics. Please update your character according to the new character sheet guidlines: roleplayerguild.com/posts/4328775

Sure absolutely. Just please be sure to update your character sheet and take another look at the rules. I made things simpler so that GMing won't be as rough for me. Simplicity equals a greater chance at not becoming overwhelmed.
