Welcome to an interest check brought to you by Exit. What follows is a labor of love and hate about a month in the making. The information here will be sparse in some areas and entirely too detailed in others. Plenty of of room for confusion. The game itself is far from complete, but there's enough here already to warrant a prospect of possible interest.

G A M E

sᴇᴛᴛɪɴɢ
Medieval high fantasy. Set in the fictional world of Avalon, a planet divided by two continents and a war spanning three generations. This world is host to men and women who possess the ability to harness the elements, summon all manner of beast and contend with the Gods for a taste of their power.

ᴍᴇᴄʜᴀɴɪᴄs
This game boasts an unhealthy balance of heavy mechanics and free form roleplay. Whether this blend of opposites will work is anyone's guess. Some of the mechanics in this game are inspired by DnD and do involve limited dice rolls. Don't let that scare you. Dice rolls in this game are meant to add an extra layer of RNG to specific "disciplines" for balancing purposes and to make their usage more interactive. Mechanics are ever changing and evolving as I complete the game. Some may be removed while others are added so keep that in mind when you're thinking about throwing interest words at my face.

S T O R Y

Story still in development.

At it's most basic, our story focuses on a small team of aspiring heroes tasked with rescuing a princess. This is your standard dungeon crawl quest line sprinkled gratuitously with fantasy elements. Think of a jelly doughnut with way too many toppings.

King and Queen of the Fae have discovered to their horror that their daughter has gone missing. Initial investigations have determined her last known location just outside a particular forest. The forest in questions is known as The Eternal Pass and is infamous for being dangerous to traverse and near impossible to map. Thanks to the numerous monstrous beasts, carnivorous terrain and a seemingly endless canopy of trees that have been reported to stretch on for weeks without end, The Endless Pass has remained largely unexplored since it's discovery.

Because of an ongoing war on the other side of the world, all of those more qualified for the job have their hands full. So instead, the King and Queen have reached out to the other kingdoms in search of you.

You are a novice adventurer from one of the many schools on this side of Avalon. Bright eyed and optimistic. Hungry for danger and gold. Looking to test your flavor of magic on something real. You're also one of the best and that's why you're here... in fact, that's why everyone is here. You're not the only one looking for the girl and you get the feeling that your group may not be alone in the forest.

E X P E C T A T I O N S

ᴘᴀᴛɪᴇɴᴄᴇ
May seem like an odd request but because of time constraints and my work load IRL, it has become increasingly difficult for me to enjoy my favorite hobby. I get just a few hours a day to actually write (the rest of the time spent here is just me being a stalker). That being said, you can expect from me at the very least anywhere between two to three posts a week with updates in between.

ᴄᴏᴍᴍɪᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ
Essentially the same honeyed dream every GM has which warrants the same canned request: Please let me know if you mean to take a leave of absence. I cannot stop anyone from departing for any reason and it would be unreasonable for me to ask a player to "fucking stay". Simply have the decency to let me know whether you're taking a break or you're out for good so I'm not left wondering what the fuck happened.

I can tell you without a doubt that unless my dick is falling off, I'll be here for you guys with what limited time I have.

ᴘᴏsᴛ ʟᴇɴɢᴛʜ
Between 1-4 paragraphs. Notice I said "between". I intend for this game to move at a moderate to slow pace and given that I have limited time as is, I cannot read five short novels and produce one of my own addressing each individual player without grinding the game to a halt. Keeping posts short and within the guidelines of casual will keep this game exactly that... casual. I'll be able to keep the story moving if we keep it here.

Exceptions can be made for collabs and I can let five paragraphs slide, but consider how much of your post is just fluff and cut that shit out.

Basic guild rules apply. Rules for Casual RP Standards are observed as well. Game specific rules will be provided in the OOC when it is up. I haven't had the time to determine exactly what they are as of yet.

Hey. That's me. I'm Exit. I'm pretty chill, love to write, love to listen to music, love bbcode because I don't know why. Whats important is that I'm here for you guys. When I say that I'm easy to talk to I really am. So questions, comments, concerns, feel free to send them my way. I'll get back to you asap.

I work a 9-5 (it's really a 7-5) and have RL responsibilities afterwards that will always need my attention. I get a couple hours of free time sometimes around 7-9pm pst (timzone is UTC -8). I intend to dedicate that time to this game and my players 100%. If you message me, expect replies then. If you see that I'm online before that time, I'm risking my job to keep up with posts in my game or I'm just generally lurking around. Don't think I'm ignoring you, It's just really not safe for me to use both thumbs on my phone right now. If I do manage a reply, it's usually around one word to a sentence.

I tend to run my games not as another participating player but as an actual GM. I will move the world around my players based on actions that they take. Every NPC interacted with will react to how they're treated which may or may not produce consequences down the line. I will use what you give me.

Lastly I'm a very experimental person when it comes to how I learn. I can read some shit or I can do it and make mistakes and learn from them. Do with that information what you will... I'm not sure why I felt it necessary to add it here.

R E S O U R C E S


Magic Mechanics | Races

Just as clarification so you can understand where my head was at when I developed the mechanics to the game. I wanted players to have the freedom to roleplay as they pleased but I wanted to put limiters on every character's particular abilities so no one would take advantage of another in an unfair way. Plus I tried to make each "discipline" unique and fun to use. I'm no game designer so most of this stuff is probably the exact opposite of that. At the moment, rules in regards to magic are still pretty fluid but I'm solidifying them quickly. If you have any questions or suggestions, do not hesitate to ask/share.

The start of this game is projected at a week to two weeks. So like I requested earlier, patience and feedback is appreciated. I've put this interest check up to help gauge where I'm at in regards to interested parties allowing me time to make proper adjustments over the weekend. Saturdays and Sundays I have all the time in the world, usually, so I'll be online polishing all of this up and making myself available to be poked and prodded with questions.

L E S S E R D I V I N I T Y

Lesser Divinity

Nephilim exclusive. This discipline can only be chosen as a secondary. It is comprised of three points with one in each level from 1-3. Points in this discipline are collected and then spent at will. The means by which these points are collected are detailed in the level breakdown below.

Due to the nature of this discipline, it is highly suggested that you work with your GM when creating a character with Lesser Divinity. Because abilities created can be almost anything, careful consideration needs to be put into it's conception. There is no real description of how the abilities in question should work per level since they will all ultimately differ. However, no matter what the end result may be, there is always only ever one ability granted that is generally the same across all levels. As points are collected, the ability is simply improved upon.

L E V E L 1
At this level, prayers to a Nephilim's deity will grant a point. A prayer must be made every day to maintain this point or the point will fade. Prayers will also maintain any points collected beyond level 1 allowing a Nephilim to save their ability for later use without the need to continuously meet the requirements necessary for points in level 2 and 3.

Abilities at level 1 are small in scale. They usually effect a single target, only last for a short duration, and no effect is permanent. Some blessings or curses are small enough to go unnoticed.
L E V E L 2
To obtain a second point, the Nephilim must complete a task that lies in favor of their deity's alignment or the deity themselves. Acts of kindness to strangers, showing benevolence in lieu of judgement... or the exact opposite. A god of Mischief may relinquish some of their power after their hero pulls a clever prank on another. A god of Love may do the same when their hero shows someone in need warm hospitality. The act taken, whatever it may be, is judged by the GM and the point rewarded based on how much positive or negative change was made.

Abilities at this level may be large enough to draw attention. Abilities can affect multiple people, last an increased duration or even alter the environment.

So our game consists of two layers. There is our real world counter part that involves the students, the high school and competing schools, and all the drama that entails therein.

The second layer involves the virtual space known as Avalon and more specifically, the fantasy server Horizon that doubles as a full on robust MMORPG. A high fantasy Tolkien-esque setting, Horizon is by far the most popular of any of the worlds that can be visited on Avalon, populated daily by millions of players, and is looking to increase it's player base by nearly double it's size with the introduction of a particular new event.

sᴛᴏʀʏ
A few days ago, word of a competition began to spread, rumors of a prize unimaginable tacked onto the end of a quest line that was to be like none experienced before. A few days after and further details were discovered by happen chance. A barkeep at a tavern outside the main city of Tavalia was one of a few who were surprisingly well versed on the subject. The prize was real world money. Funds in the millions and the quests? Well he would give it himself... when the time came.

A month after the discovery of the tavern, the contest was finally revealed. Completion of this quest rewarded the player with $10 Million in US real world funds... as well as something else that hasn't been revealed thus far.

For whatever reasons we decide, our characters have deemed this prize important enough to sign up for the event.

ᴇxᴛʀᴀ ɴᴏᴛᴇs
We will be starting already in our RIGS, and at the tavern where we will pick up the quest.

Tavern is called the The Twig

High School is Fictional Diamond Valley High

We live in fictional North San Francisco. The entire San Rafael area has been turned into an extension of the city built almost exclusively for higher end homes.

I will do most of the descriptors, filling in the world with details and colors and life so you can see it in your mind's eye. For now, this is our basic setup and our jumping off point for what's to come. I'll continue to develop the game as we play but please, if you want to see something added... anything.. or if you want to change the focus on the story (yes that includes a focus on SMUT you lol), let me know and I'll accommodate.

H I S T O R Y
Most of Mist's life has been on the move. In fact, all of it has. His mother gave birth to him while travelling. His friends were made and forgotten in single days. His first theft was from a shop in a town ten miles away from where his family had decided to finally stay... and subsequently left because of him. The last time he was ever 'home' was at the age of 9 when he'd let himself wander for too long and fallen in the arms of men less benevolent than the ones he knew.

Life only sped up from there. Forced to work to make up for the items he'd attempted to make off with. Work he was only too happy to oblige when the alternative was losing an arm. When business began to fail, he was sold off to help keep some place he didn't really care about afloat. His buyers cleaned him up, taught him some minor life lessons... and then let him get kidnapped?

Life on a ship was odd... but fascinating to the young boy and he very quickly acclimated to a world that was constantly on the edge. He learned to sail. Learned to navigate. Learn his way around every inch of his seaworthy vessel. Learned to read the weather. Learned to read the sky. Learned to read the people around him. He was a natural with others. Quick with his tongue and knew how to spin a good tale as his life had already begun as one. Seeing the world also helped add a lot of flavor. Being good with people also meant he held all the cards when it came to information.

Information that would lead him to a woman, to fortune and eventually... crewless.

He's let himself wander again and found himself... here.

Sana hails from a church of Celestian. A faith built around the god of knowledge, travel and the cosmos. A devout acolyte, she strives to build upon these cornerstones of her beliefs through the work she does in the aid of others. Missions to far away, unknown lands play a large part of this.

Word has recently reached her congregation of something dark and mysterious stirring in a land known as Barovia, a little known region to them. Sana has been sent to gather more information, give aid where she can and report back what she finds.

She is only too eager to prove her worth.

a p p e a r a n c e
A rather odd looking tiefling, Sana is tall and lithe. Tinged pink. Her horns have been filed down and shaped in such a way that they became uniform. They were then dipped in gold by her denomination to better represent her church. Her hair is of a natural pink color with golden highlights and her eyes are naturally a pale milky white.

Her vestment is fitted and dark in color to represent the home of her deity. It follows tightly the contours of her body down to her waist where it then flairs out and opens at the front before dropping to the ground, the hem coming to within inches of the ground. The lining on the inside is reminiscent of a starry sky and if one were to look closely enough, they'll notice the stray light catching on minuscule reflective stitching, like spots of light not unlike stars in a constellation. This vestment with some edges adorned in gold, sits on top of a chain shirt hidden from view.

During the day, Sana will pull her hood up. This hood has slits cut into it which allow it to be pulled past her horns. It's then secured in place with a clasp.

Dark leather breeches and boots provides a measure of protection and comfort and finishes off her look. A shoulder holster tucked under her vestment, but within easy reach, holds two daggers. A scabbard holds a rapier to her hip.

Slung across her back is her pack.

You've entered a rather large library of sorts. The building itself is cylindrical in shape, at least as far as you can tell from it's interior. Lining every inch of the walls are shelves where one would display any number of books, hundreds of thousands by the look of it. Strangely enough however, there are only four. Their spines stand out against a bleach white backdrop and the simple, humble light wood holding them in place at about the same height as your eye line. The rest of the library is surprisingly empty. Save for the door to your right that's been shut and bears a sign that reads "The backroom is currently closed. -Management."

Also there's a man. Sitting dead center and across the room from you is in fact a person you hadn't noticed earlier. He's behind a rather large oak desk that obscures everything him from his chest down. The laptop in front of him doesn't help either. From the chest up, he's wearing a rather plain peach colored shirt with what looks like black dots spaced about two inches from each other and crawling across it in a uniformed pattern. The chin and edges of his face are obscured underneath a thin layer of black facial hair. However, you can still make out the sharper edges hidden there. His lip are nearly full without being feminine. His nose straight and nearly as sharp as his chin. Brown eyes sit within square, black framed lenses that sit snug atop the bridge of his nose. His hair is shaved at the sides but he's crowned tall and thick and pushed just so to the side.

He's focused on whatever he's doing, almost completely so, at least until his eyes snap over to you.

"Oh.........OH! Oh hi! Uh.. Welcome to the uh... the Library!" He says as he clamors out of his seat and stands to greet you. He almost reaches for a handshake, but as he moves to extend his hand, he suddenly stops and his expression changes. As if he'd remembered something important, the man blinks and quickly turns away before reaching for something behind the desk. He returns a moment later affixing a mask to his face. "So sorry..." He stammers as he continues, talking through the thin blue barrier as he finishes looping the last elastic band around his ear. "I always forget and you're like... the first person in here." His nervous laughter does little to hide his own apparent awkwardness and even less to distract you from his eyes which are clearly searching you. They wander for a minute before finding your eyes once more.

"Y-... You're here for the job right?" He asks, raising an eyebrow. "It's pretty simple actually. We're trying to fill this library but the books are all empty." As he continues, he gestures to the four books behind him. "This is all we have for now and let me tell you... getting these together was not easy. Oh!" He reaches again for something behind the desk and pulls out a piece of paper and pen before placing it on the desk in front of you. "Uh... standard work contract." He taps the 'X' at the bottom of the page. "Please read and sign and then pick whichever book you...'fancy'..." He chuckles. "'Bout to get my vocab working here."

responsibilities
These games are strictly casual. I would also like to emphasize the importance of limitations placed on my hobby by real life expectations. I no longer have the free time I once did to dedicate hours of my life every day to writing. Instead, I get at most an hour daily. That does not include what time I can get away with for lurking and simple replies to non-RP related topics.

What does this mean for you? You get the peace of mind knowing that my expectation for a quick reply is generally low. That being said, please aim for a post a week. Post density is also similarly lax. I do not require lengthy, multi-paragraph replies with bloated literature when a single, well written one will accomplish the same. I also do not prefer single sentence replies. Posts must be at minimum, one paragraph in length.

Proper grammar should be a natural want for any writer.

personality. Blake leaves much to be desired in the arena
of communication. Her delivery is often times straight forward,
formalities usually skipped, manners can sometimes be forgotten.

Although not one to go out of her way to sour one's mood, she
will at times unwittingly upset another by way of her speak.
She's blunt and bleak.

Oddly enough, this mannerism is evident in her activities as
well. She takes to her job as it is. Nothing less and nothing
more. In this way, the muse she creates is more often than
not one of accidental humor.

weapon. A two handed ax. Despite it's unassuming appearance,
it's head is reforged metal from what was once a labrys. Now,
with a single edge and colored black, there is little to connect it
to the head it once severed.

extra. She remembers. What she doesn't remember are her
many children. As she reacquaints herself, she also reacquires
her influence over those domains.
