[OOC] - Squad 914: Beyond - Rebooted

@LetMeDoStuffMy submission for an alternate experimental gear for my combat engineer. There's some deviation from true history, obviously, but I'd hope that my explanation for that is adequate. Let me know what you think:

Originally developed in secret by Louis Fieser and a team of skilled chemists at Harvard University and handed off to the British for use in Europe, 'napalm' saw it's first use by the Royal Air Force during the defense of England in 1942. Though it could not turn the tide of battle due to how little was produced at the time, the weapon, when deployed, was devastating. Water proved ineffective at dousing the gelling agent/petrol concoction.

When Operation Sealion proved successful, and the Wermacht overrun the English forces, stores of napalm were destroyed en masse to keep it from falling into enemy hands. It was only through a stroke of incredible luck that a Soviet spy embedded in the RAF was able to smuggle the material out. It was handed off to researchers in the Soviet Union and reverse engineered into what it is today.

Still in the experimental phase and freshly produced, Soviet leadership is searching for effective means of deploying the weapon. The Luftwaffe's ownership of the air makes copying the RAF's bombs less than ideal; instead, they turn to their infantrymen. The Napalm Grenade is a flexible, deceptively powerful device. Unlike other area denial incendiary weapons, napalm's unique makeup makes it useful even in wet or rainy environments, or when the enemy has access to wells or rivers for fire control duty.

If by this you mean others knowing individuals already, then I would say slowly work towards them in our posts. The first post, which I am working on now, is going to start on the Train-through India. Some characters may have already met one another, but most of the soldiers of Squad 914 were told to stay in their cabins (in solitary) until they arrived at their location.

Well yes, most of them would have. Aleyev was the first one on the train though because he was with Aytre before they actually arrived onto the railway. He'd have met a few Russians/Vietnamese from previous battles but not since he got on the train.

The Finnish would be hard to justify, but it is possible that they could work. If you can come up with something justifiable I would love to see it done. Otherwise, I would love your interest and can assist in other nationalities if needed.

What if they came from the part the Soviets annexed and were in raised in a post-Soviet world?

One idea I had was that he'd have Finnish ancestry but be brought up Russian. He would speak Finnish and be familiar with the culture, but not have citizenship or anything.

Though, ooh, I do like Sola's idea as well. He could have one Russian parent and come from Karjala. Kinda found himself caught on the "wrong" side of the border at the end of the war.

Question- just to clarify, what's the status of America, west of the Mississippi? I assume a weakened government, throwing troops desperately at the West and into Quebec?

Well, I meant more so establishing who's going to be whose friend and/or romantic partner beforehand and then slowly incorporating that into the posts as time goes by. I'm not saying our characters have to know each other off the bat, but I was just playing with the options.

If you want to organise such, I guess you can. But incorporating it would also work. If you wanted to, you could ask those individuals prior. I know I would like some beefiness and relations with other characters.

As for the Finnish idea, I am interested and can easily accept something of that historical context. Go ahead with it!

America is in a three way war. The Germans and Italians are fighting Americans and Canadians in the Northeast. There's also the Mexican front, which is currently fighting the Mexicans/Spanish. The West is being fought against the Japanese. Pretty much any direction is a front.

Just in case it's relevant, my current idea for a CS is an American farmboy who was forced to enlist as a marksman, fending off the Germans in the Appalachians or something like that.

I think we already have an issue. This RP is about a Soviet-led squad, who is fighting in Southeast Asia. How exactly would they be apart of the squad?

Could be a stretch, but I was thinking that by some way, the US would send some troops to aid Australia? If that's not really practical I've still got another set of ideas, such as a Filipino rebel or even German defector.
