Saw this existed, read into it, found myself hooked.
Before I make a sheet, would a technopath be accepted? If not, would a person with a mutation that made them smarter be accepted? Asking since I could revamp a character of mine who never got far off the ground due to the thread not starting. Thanks in advance, I'll be joining the Discord soon!
Cinnamon Hailstride - Something of an irony, given her buff appearance, but somewhat fitting when it comes to personality. - Her father was the one who gave her this name, when Cinnamon smelled cinnamon rolls and smiled.

Alignment Chaotic Good – She helps people if she could, although she would rather save people closest to her as opposed to total strangers. Even so, it would hurt her if she actually stands by.

Appearance Cinnamon is a young woman around 5’8” (172 cm) and 143 lbs (65 kg). She boasts a lean figure with several apparent muscles, mostly her abdominals, and faint scars that came from fighting constantly on the streets. Her face is often a blank frown, where her left green eye and right yellow eye would stare ahead (or close, or intensely focused) when she is calm, but quickly change upon some situation. The worst one for people would be on the end of her tooth-gritted glare.
She often wears a dark black (or brown) coat, white shirt, equally dark trousers or grey sweatpants, combat boots, and a belt pack. Her gloves, matt black and studded with special alloy, are normally kept in her pockets until she has to fight or work. Sometimes she ties up her hair with a green scrunchie or cuts it at neck length in hime-style. Whenever she is called upon for agent operations, she wears a black beanie to tuck her hair into, a red oni mask, more dark clothing, and a special coat.
Traits: Stubborn, family-oriented, cool, rude, and indecisive.
Cinnamon is good-natured, but the type who would call themselves your friend and still call you names anyway. She admires mutants in general, although she is aware of how good and bad they can be from an early age. As such, she can be prickly towards people, and friends are rare for her despite her open demeanor.
She does not readily stay true to her feelings, leading her to feel conflicted when such moments come and ultimately try to avoid it or run away. She cares for people, especially when they get hurt, but she had received hard lessons in trying to fix things herself and has been receptive to other people.
Cinnamon was born to mutant parents Bosley Hailstride, an American psychokinetic magician, and Ran Hayashi, a Japanese mutant born with the ability to control wind, and lived in America before settling down in a city. Six years later, her mother died giving birth to her baby brother, Bailey, leaving it up to Bosley to suddenly take care of his children. Despite this change, and living in a rather rough part of a neighborhood, the three lived happily, if not at risk with the several shady organizations based around the city.
At some point, Cinnamon met Sheffield and thought they were going to be good friends until her father suddenly disappeared, reappearing in public crazily declaring himself to be Betta Bill, and began a psychokinetic rampage on a level very unlike him or his powers. It killed civilians, Heroes, Vigilantes, and bounty hunters alike by the dozens, until Sheffield, known as the Red Striker at the time, was the one who finally killed Betta Bill. Horrified, angered, and grieving, she was later sent to an orphanage where she met Sheffield again.
Having heard his confession as the Red Striker that killed her father, their relationship plummeted, and slowly mended with Sheffield’s constant visits, Cinnamon understanding that the destruction her father caused had to be stopped, and her brother and the little orphans simply being there to distract them. Even so, distraught that her father, rough but kind, turned into a mad Villain without an explanation, she went to Azure City to search for such a source. When one night got her into fighting Villains, and winning, she was invited by a member of the Raiders of the Lost into their ranks, whom she knew from Sheffield.
Joining the Raiders, Cinnamon has since then acted as a guard for certain facilities located around the city or as assault, in which she would be one of the first fighting Heroes on the scene.
Notable Relations • Bailey Hailstride Her younger brother, who is 10 years old. She cares for him dearly, especially when he became her last living relative.
• Sheffield Dusk Complicated. They had met two weeks before Betta Bill’s rampage, at a mixer in which Cinnamon was forced into, and Sheffield was supposed to meet an arms dealer. They met, got along, got annoyed by each other, got along anyway, and got each other’s contact number before realizing they attended the same school a few days later. But then Sheffield killed her father.
It had been half a year since Sheffield confessed himself as the killer, whom she viewed as a justified sort of killer, but still the one who did it anyway. It took time for them to talk normally again, until Cinnamon had enough of her orphanage and ran away with her brother. Though, one of her reasons was Sheffield himself, who grew on her despite what happened.
• Bosley Hailstride and Ran Hailstride née Hayashi Her American and Japanese mutant parents respectively. She knew her mother for six years until Bailey, whom she gave birth to and died despite her mutant constitution, leaving it up to their father to raise them. They enjoyed their years together as a family in America until Betta Bill rose up as a criminal. The reasons as to why Bosley went berserk were lost on her, and she could not believe he happened to kill without reason, which factored into her decision to find out why by joining the Raiders of the Lost.
• Raiders of the Lost The low-profile vigilante organization that Sheffield was once a part of, which had now partnered with some shady organizations. Cinnamon was scouted by the Raiders after she ran to Azure City with Bailey, in which she acts as a forward scout and (occasional) security for some of the Raiders’ and their partners’ facilities. Of course, she was only in it for some sense of payment for her father’s crimes, to find out why her father became a Villain, a job, and a want to do good, even if it was somewhat at odds with her sense of freedom.
Decent, having an ordinary apartment to live in with her little brother. Her daytime job (construction) and nighttime job (secret agent) provide the two with more than enough income. She also has a ‘Hero’s’ license that would justify her work in protecting the peace (and avoid whatever trouble she has to do in public).
She also became the leader of her own gang, though unnamed, which is composed of many mutants and a few humans who had lost homes or are looking for friends. They act as an information network, but more importantly as backup for Cinnamon and each other, at least when it does not involve work.

Fighting Style Rush in, fight, and win, sometimes not in that order. She works straightforwardly, however impulsive she acts, but is not a fool, especially having walked through many unfair streets where she sometimes had to fight (or purposely gets into fights). She is far from adverse to using weapons and tactics, but the reason she would resort to fists would be when she wants no deaths.
She has knowledge of several Asiatic schools of fighting, most of which includes disarming and posture; that would include Japanese aikido and South Indian Kalaripayattu. However, she has a preference for boxing and (her more brutal form of) taekwondo.
Strengths - Roughhousing. - Any crowded fights. - She has above average education. - Her body is incredibly tough due to the nature of her power, to the point a knife would barely get past her skin. - Her reflexes are very on point, particularly adjusted for her power to work efficiently. - Doing mathematical calculations (or pure instincts) are also a condition for her if she wants fine control over her power and throwing strength. - She has incredible willpower.
Weaknesses - Something like a Xanatos Gambit (planning for each and every outcome to be beneficial) is beyond her, including avoiding being caught up in such machinations. - She is an impulsive person. - Her brother is a sore/weak point for her, along with any mention of her family or friends. - She is a loner by nature, and is unused to teamwork. - She is more of a human with their natural resistances multiplied, hence the wounds she takes are still significant over time.
Equipment Her best clothing is incredibly tough, designed with her powers and fighting style in mind. Her black gloves and boots are studded with metal alloys that can endure nearly anything she punches and are made of threads resistant towards heat, burning, corrosion, and other ailments. Her special black coat is interwoven with titanium, also with the same resistances. A whip is often at her side to use to lash onto enemies or objects, whether to pull at them or herself towards them.
Her packs are often full of small gadgets and items, including cinnamon sticks that help her focus, tracking beacons the size of quarters, and a retractable baton.
- This ability entails adding forces acting upon Cinnamon, or an object or a person she is in contact with, using her mind. - A punch she throws can have the force of a speeding bus, or comparable to that of a meteor if she exhausts herself. A feather as light as ever could be dropped and suddenly have the weight of a bull. Anything that leaves her will still have the power-added force until it disperses for any reason. - One technique is to add on the force she has on her arm delivering a punch; in the instant she makes contact with her target, she adds onto the force pushing the target back, sending them flying. Another is that whenever she falls, she can act upon resistant forces to slow her fall enough to at least not take damage. - She can immediately remove the force she adds and add on the resistant force of whatever is in her hand, allowing her to stop an attack of hers in time (if she processes the thought). - The power also resulted in Cinnamon’s high endurance, which adapted to the rigors of using it. - It is theorized she can emit a personal forcefield or on whatever she holds onto, or strengthening her body, though she has yet to be able to do so. - It is also theorized her power can mutate to subtract forces upon anything she is in contact with.
Weaknesses - The power only activates when Cinnamon comes into contact with the target. - It cannot ‘subtract’ or remove a force. - While she can add force onto multiple objects at a time, she can only do it on one force acting upon each object (e.g. she cannot add on gravity combined with kinetic force for her punches). - The mental strength required to interact with an object/mass is proportional to its size. If the object is smaller than Cinnamon, then it would take next to no cost. If it is larger, then the mental strength exerted would be more noticeable, added onto the amount of force she wants to add. - The enhancement is dependent on Cinnamon’s mental strength, which can be interfered with through mental means, putting her in depression, or such that conflicts with her mind and will. - Cinnamon can mentally exhaust herself using her powers too much, sometimes putting herself into short comas lasting up to a day. - There are no long-range forms of this ability, such as lifting an object with the mind.
Extra - Likes: Sushi, close people, fighting, and TV. - Dislikes: Villains, coffee, bad ink, and the police. - She likes TV dramas, particularly Korean ones. - She can speak basic Japanese. - She won a competition in knife throwing and another in eating spaghetti. - She has a verbal tic where she gets high-pitched when flustered, nervous or emotional. - Her heterochromia were often a source of tease and insults. She ends up getting into fights this way too.

Appearance Vermin Roach stands around 5'8". His weight is unknown but he looks slender. But in appearance, it can be hard to call on since he's always wearing long clothing to conceal himself. This usually includes a jacket with a hoodie attached to cover his head and most of his face and rest of his upper body. Usually wears either sweatpants or jeans. Sneakers. If he finds them, he even wears gloves of various kinds.
Personality Whenever someone has the chance to actually talk to Vermin Roach, he sounds like he doesn't care. It's hard to pin down a persona on him but due to his occupation, he just cares about the business and nothing more if you should ask anyone else who's spoken to him before. He never insults or praises whoever he talks to but once in awhile, he may if his "client" seems either threating or nervous around him. But if there IS someone who goes after him or threatens his life, he will act intimidating and creepy.
Origin Vermin Roach. In the criminal underworld to even government agencies, there isn't a soul that doesn't know that name. A man with perhaps a mysterious and even gross habits and power, many a common thug to even a higher up crimelord would even tell you to never cross this guy and keep it professional whenver he's involved in some business deal. Not because he's a fighter.
But because of his ability to get information from almost anywhere within city limits or wherever he is.
Other than being a Information Broker and mutant, not much is known of the personal history of Vermin Roach. Nobody even knows his real name or how he physically looks. Rumors, however, are always whispered where ever he goes. One says he's a walking mutant experiment gone wrong. Another says he was born what he is and was shunned by even his mutant parents. And yet another with the typical comic book plot device "thug in the wrong place at the wrong time".
And yet there's no denying that wherever he goes, choas usually follows. Villians, heores, vigilantes or whatever. It doesn't matter who or what you are. If you need information and you have the money, physical or electronic, or even something he desires, Vermin Roach will do his part and get the detailed information you need. From pin numbers and passwords to secret identities, he'll go to many lengths to satisfy his customer.
With complete disregard for the consequences...
Notable Relations No one. As far as he's concerned, anyone is just a potential customer or possible threat.
Resources Whatever he can get his hands on. Also whatever he can buy off the black market or "dark web" with his earnings.
Everyday Skills Since he never stays in one place for too long, Vermin Roach knows how to adapt to any place he stays from a normal apartment to a hole in the wall if necessary and so long as it's indoors. He knows how to cook. And while he's no hacker, he knows his way around general PC usage so he'll know if he's being hacked or someone is watching his activities. He frequents the "dark web" for possible job requests as well.
Fighting Style Vermin Roach isn't exactly what you call a fighter. He rather use blackmail and intimidation than actual physical combat. But that's only if someone goes looking for trouble on him. Other than that, he's known to be an untrained street fighter/knife fighter.
Strengths Smart and clever. If possible, Vermin Roach always have a backup escape route in case someone corners him. He can quickly memorize a location and possible escape routes should the need arise. And because of his profession, he knows how to manipulate information to his advantage.
Weakness The obvious. He's not a fighter of any kind. And while a mutant with the slight overal phyical mutations, a well-trained human can beat him. And though he knows when he's being hacked or observed electronic's wise, he can't stop it. He can arm himself with any weapon he buys from either the black market or the dark web but it'd be for self defense purposes only.
Equipment As stated, anything that he finds or buys.
Strength It's this "gross" power that gained him the name Vermin Roach and the reputation to go with it and his position as information broker. He can control cockroaches. It's unknown how many but up to a range of 10 yards, he can control whole armies of them at once. He even grants them a nasty ability to drain a target of their natural energy should enough of them make skin contact to the point of physical exaustion of said target. Other times though, he just has them fly around and distract a target or even intimidate anyone trying to start trouble. After 10 yards though, he can only control one at a time. But the distance to control one is said to be city wide. He even can "look" from the roaches perspective: sight, smell, touch and even feel pain if they experience it. It's even said that, as a swarm, he can see all around him through his mind. It's because of this ability that allowed vermin roach to effectively do his job as information broker.
Weaknesses/Limitations The obvious one as stated before is that he's no hand to hand fighter. If you manage to get past his "army", block his escape routes, blackmailing and intimidation factors and get him to fight, your odds of winning are good. His power can be disrupted too. Like a real roach, sudden bright lights turning on can makes them all scatter. Heck, enough firepower can stop his army too. Himself included and he'll run fast. He also need low-lighted settings because of this. Sewer systems, abandoned buildings with no light and only going out at night shows how much he avoids bright areas due to sensitive eye sight. He doesn't know yet but Vermin Roach also believes that any mutant or special device that can block mind reading or TK based powers can also stop his control over roaches but he's yet to test that theory. And when he's only controlling one roach at a time past 10 yards and beyond, he can feel it's pain too as stated. If that roach is killed and he doesn't break the mind link soon enough, he'll either feel agonizing pain or knocked out for a bit.
Extra Vermin Roach, because of his occupation and abilites, has also made some powerful enemies. One of which is MSU. It's said that due to his powers and personality, MSU has declared him a "danger to national security" and has a rumored bounty on his head.
Personality 🔹 A calm, reserved, intelligence and cunning young woman, Serene is careful, mindful of the needed actions that might be taken for the sake of her business. She is also careful in how she deals with others, due to her status as a mutant, lest it cause any sort of issue. However, this is in part, a facade, a mask she wears due to her upbringing, to always present a calm demeanor. Internally, she may be nervous about decisions, unsure if they're the right ones to make, but tries to make the best decisions possible. There's also bands of loneliness present within her, due to the isolation she grew up in.
Origin 🔹 The House of Light. A mutant bloodline that has been around for a long time, stretching back well over a century, if not further possibly. Rumored to have darker connections to a mutant mafia type group, they certainly have the cash needed to back their family members. However, how far back they go is unknown due to their own hiding of records and information, due to the dangers mutants face in some areas. They look after their own.
Enter Professor Light, or Professor Drake. The son of the current head of the house, his real name is unknown, due to the birth records being destroyed. And what the public doesn't know doesn't matter. At some point, his mysterious life came to an end, and he settled down, using the funding of his family, as well as that of his mysterious employers, to expand what legitimate business enterprises his family had. So arose Rocktech Industries, a nod to his prior life as an archeologist(and to the intelligence communities, a highly skilled mutant agent, who operated for more than one government, though only Britain will confirm his ties to them). From this, he worked to develop medicine to aid both humans and mutants, researching diseases that were previously uncurable, seeking cures. He funded defense contracts with the US government, and oversaw research into other areas, such as heavy industry, and even studied mutants to find ways to replicate their powers in mechanical form, such as ways to improve machinery. And some even rumor that weapons production and trading may be a part of the business. But eventually, he needed a heir, and a voice from the past became his source.
He had a child by a woman whose identity remains unknown. This young girl, named Serene, was to be the final stepping stone in the Professor's plan, to move from the shadows that his grandmother and her organization operated within, to a completely clean and public situation. With his child's birth, and confirmation that she was a mutant via bloodtesting, this was realized. However, his plans would come at a cost for the young Serene.
Growing up in effective isolation for much of her childhood, Serene was privately taught and trained, her connection to the outside world minimized as much as possible, and when she went out, it was with a security detail. After all, the Professor had his enemies, and he wished to avoid harm coming to her. This however, meant that even when she was done with effective mutant home schooling, she had to go via online college. By this point, her power over technology had manifested, and her studies adjusted according. In the end, she completed what was expected of her, and the moment she was done with her schooling, showing a natural gifted intelligence, she was made the new CEO of Rocktech, at only twenty-two years of age, having also undergone the needed briefing throughout her years, working various positions within the business, but often in semi-isolation. Her father stepped back now, focusing on doing pure research, to benefit both human and mutant kind, leaving the young technopath to her own devices. She has a lot ahead of her...
Notable Relations 🔹 Father, Mother(Serene has met her, but its been usually in quick meetings, for unclear reasons), Grandmother(Spent a lot of time with her, despite her whole...darker angle. Very fond of her), Drake Avalon(High grade Artificial Intelligence designed by Serene's father and a team of skilled scientists to be a companion to Serene and her right hand. Arguably Serene's only actual friend)
Resources 🔹 She's loaded, having access to both clearly clean money, and possible dirty money connections.
Fighting Style 🔹 Remotely, since technopath. Through assets. Future Serene will likely use personal mecha or suits for fighting. Or rely on Drake to handle things for her.
Strengths 🔹 Considering she has yet to see battle, unclear. But most likely in the field of tactics and information processing.
Weaknesses 🔹 Since she's a technopath...mess her up, and she'll go down fast. She's also useless in pure nature areas.
Equipment 🔹 Rocktech Pistol - A standard issue weapon with a non-lethal taser like mode, and a stronger, more dangerous plasma shot. Designed for use in close quarters, and has a minimal amount of shots. 🔹 Drake Avalon - Military grade AI. Assists her in controlling her assets. Capable of scanning the internet at high speed, and can upgrade herself as needed. Yes, its a female, at least, she sounds like one. Has a British esque accent. 🔹 Rocktech Power Suit - A high tech personal defense suit that is currently being developed by several scientists at Rocktech, that allows the user to protect themselves from enemies, and to punch through walls with ease. Future upgrade plans include reducing weight, adding weapons, and allowing it to fly, plus other valuable upgrades. For now, its just really a glorified suit of armor. 🔹 Rocktech Phone - A specialized cellphone that is leagues ahead of the current market issue. Implied to have a storage space on par with most modern gaming laptops. Certainly has enough security encryption to make people jealous. Meant for gaming, calling, and can scan a person, to run against existing databases for any and all information. 🔹 Rocktech Medical Kit - Basically just cutting edge health tech, contains healing agents to help stop bleeding, and speed up the body's natural healing rates. Also contains a variety of drugs that can slow heart rates to avoid bleeding out, or to speed up the heart rate. 🔹 Rocktech Limiter - A headband that is designed to help channel, and focus her powers, and in emergencies, prevent her from losing control 🔹 Rocktech Security Drones - Basic robots equipped with non-lethal "crowd-control" type weapons, who can be deployed to protect civilians. Currently in develop, and lack the ability to fly. For reference: The standard mook bots from Sonic 06 who machinegun you and chip off one ring per hit.
Strengths 🔹 As a technopath, Serene can control technology, making objects work for her, such as driving a car without a hand on the wheel, to opening a door. She can also manipulate existing constructs, and apply commands. As her power develops further, it is more than likely that she could use applications to create new machinery out of existing, merge together, or even take control of multiple pieces of hardware at once. Overall, a very good power to have in the urban jungle.
Weaknesses/Limitations 🔹 Well, it can only control artificial or mechanical devices. Can't control anything organic. Due to being still young, she doesn't have that good a control over her powers, requiring her to usually maintain physical contact when using her powers, or be intimately familiar with the machines working to control properly. Additionally, the more complex the object is, and also more unfamiliar, the more it requires for her to focus, which can, in some cases, leave her heavily exposed and in grave danger. Stress may also cause her to lose control, and thus cause electronics to mess up in an area. Finally, she can't control machinery that has any sort of mental capacity or will, as she lacks either the power or training needed to win such a battle of wills. And forgot this, but her powers do take up a lot of energy and calories, so she has to eat a lot after any extensive usage of powers.
🔹 It is believed that the horns, longer canines, and strange markings around her eyes are either traits passed from the mother, or the result of non-power related mutations. A further suggestion is that they were the result of her birth, as its unknown if she was born naturally, or engineered in a lab(hint, natural birth, but mysteries are fun). Additionally, while the mutatations of her parents are unknown, it is possible her father could manipulate some degree of elements, but what remain unknown, due to his own desires to keep a low profile, and her mother of course not being in the picture. It is implied her grandmother, due to her title, has something to do with the sky. 🔹 Serene's favorite food is, surprisingly, mac and cheese pizza. Also cheese burgers. Eggs make her gag on their own. She also has a major sweet tooth. 🔹 Had she been born earlier, her overall appearance would have likely gotten her killed. Fears of demons and witches after all.
After a good bit of deliberation, I've decided to drop out. While I fully intend to follow along for all the lovely story telling, this has served as an excellent reminder that I struggle with true open-world RPs. I do much better with a clear bit of structure. As such, I'll certainly be getting into Venture Academy as that seems much more up my alley.
