The cool mountain breeze rustling the environment was the only sound accompanying Arashi as he hiked up the beaten mountain trail. The rucksack upon his back weighed heavily upon the young man. Among the spare sets of clothing, the rations of food, and the other such supplies necessary for prolonged survival in the wilderness were items that would be more appropriate for somebody attempting to tame or restrain an animal, like chain and rope. Even the empty burlap sack that the young man carried in his pack seemed to be too perfect fit for a head to be passed off for something innocent!

...Okay, so it was honestly just a sack that had managed to be emptied of its contents during the trip. The point still stood.

Arashi had been travelling for quite a some time, his home not even present upon the landscape behind him. The blond-haired young man stopped upon reaching an area where the mountain began to plateau and took a seat upon a large stone. It was roughly lunchtime, if the Sun being in the absolute center of the sky meant anything. So he set down his rucksack and removed some of the meat he had collected and pre-cooked, as well as a flask of water he had retrieved from a spring a while back. As he ate, Arashi took the time to bask in the great - if a bit chilly - weather.

It really wasn't much longer until he reached his destination nestled deep within this godforsaken mountain range. The whole thing would probably take a few more hours. There was likely a much more easily accessible entrance to his desired end-point, but he sure as hell wouldn't be taking that particular route. With what he was planning to do, it would be better if he just got in and got out. No bothering with border crossing hassles, getting identified by any natives, or anything of that sort! Just him, his rucksack, and the trail. That was all he wanted or needed from this heist. The less he had to account for, the better. He just wanted to get this done as fast as possible.

Once Arashi finished up his meal, the young man hefted his rucksack over his shoulders, pulled his brown cloak tighter around himself, and set off once more.
That Night

There it was.

The best way to describe the 'it' down a bit below would be a farm or ranch. If the livestock were winged lizards bigger or equal to the size of your average human. Likely also possessing the ability to kill something the size of your average human. Like, say, the unfortunate average human attempting to kidnap one in order to save his family.

Not exactly the easiest of tasks for a first time thief, all things considered.

'Too late to turn back now,' Arashi grimaced, surveying his surroundings. A young dragon would be the easiest, he'd think. Not an egg, as he had no idea how to care for a developing draconic embryo, or the resulting developing draconic child. The dragon would also have to be relatively isolated, as not to disturb the other dragons.

Sliding down the ledge he was perched upon, Arashi inched closer to the area. 'There,' the long-haired novice thief thought, picking out a black and gold one that seemed to look relatively young and helpless. It was nearby and relatively separated from the rest of the group. Must've been his lucky night.

Unfortunately, after retrieving his supplies and getting close enough to put them into action, a thought occurred to Arashi: he had no idea what the hell he was doing. Hopefully this dragon was a heavy sleeper. First things first though, he had to make sure that the dragon would be silent as not to wake the others. To facilitate this, the young man tied the previously-mentioned perfectly-sized burlap sack over the black dragon's head, making sure to tie the mouth shut tight. He went on with the rest of the body, tying up appendages, before finally having the dragon practically gift-wrapped for him! Though it was a rather difficult job, Arashi had to admit. Fortunately, he wasn't going dragon stealing again any time soon, so it was fine. Nobody got anything done without a little hardship after all.

Now to get the dragon out...

Arashi hefted the dragon up, carrying it close to his chest like a baby - or alternatively, a particularly heavy bag. He was actually rather surprised as to how light the dragon was. He had expected something heavier, but this was like carrying a person!

By the break of dawn, the thief and his prize would be far away...

"Stop it, mom!" Sakura beat a wing against her mother's nose. Trying to avoid her mother's grasp Sakura leaped backwards and crashed into a random tree. Naturally it didn't hurt at all, but she proved her point. "I'm not a baby anymore, mom! I'm nearly able to get a partner, so shush! You don't need to wash me anymore!"
Sakura huffed a bit shuffling her wings. "Aw, honey. I'm sorry." Her mother walked a bit closer and snuggled her a bit. "I have to remember that you're a grown girl now. I can still remember how you were prancing around in the fields as a little one with all your friends." As gently as you would think a mother would be. she smiled.
"However, I can still send you to bed. So get your cute dragon butt sleeping. If you want you can sleep somewhere else. I reckon you want to sleep under your favourite tree again tonight?"
A little bit calmer now, Sakura nodded. "Good night, mom."
She turned around and walked towards the tree she had spent so many hours underneath training and reading and dreaming.
"Oh, 'Kura, Mori wanted me to tell you, he wants to do some adventuring with you, if the humans allow it"
Not turning around Sakura grinned. Going on adventure with Mori, the forest dragon, was always pretty exciting and fun. She also loved hanging out with him as he was an overall pretty fun and chill guy to be with. And that's saying a lot, since most male dragons in her colony, especially around ten years old, the age Sakura was, were pretty often nasty and mean. Oftentimes some would even hurt Sakura downplaying the incident as "Just playing" or "training for duels".

Nevertheless, Sakura liked her life, although she asked herself from time to time, and with increasing frequency, how life as a partner dragon would be. Apparently dragons chosen as a partner developed the skill of giving themselves a pretty much human form. Just the fangs and very colourful eyes remained, sometimes markings on the head, too.

She shrugged and curled up beneath the tree eagerly awaiting the next day to come. But everything turned out way different than she imagined.
In the middle of the night she got startled by something bumpy disturbing her heavy sleep.
When she tried to open her eyes, she could she that her muzzle was wrapped into a bag or something.
Through the material of the bag, Sakura spotted the outline of a person, a human who was currently carrying her.
Now fully awake she started struggling and tried to speak up and complain.
"Mmmmmhhhh!" 'Dang it! My muzzle is taped shut'
"Mhh mhh mhmmmhh mh mhhmhhm!" In theory she wanted to shout 'Would you untie my muzzle!' but, of course, she found herself unable to.
Now she had to wait until the abductor paused and maybe freed her muzzle. She'd have a telling-off with him that would shatter even a Yakuza-boss' heart of stone.
'Just you wait, you little bugger!'

Arashi continued hiking through the wilderness, dragon hefted over shoulder. It wasn't exactly an easy task, however, as the dragon he had procured had decided to squirm about a bit and resist his grip throughout the entirety of the nighttime walk, which made it rather cumbersome to carry her. He was far enough away from the darn place anyway. Besides, he definitely needed the rest after that little heist he had just pulled. He also needed it for carrying the dragon, who would likely be squirming even more after a night's sleep. So rather than, say, continuing onwards away from the aforementioned farm of dragons, he decided to stop in his tracks and set up camp, so to speak. In actuality, the 'camp' he was setting up basically consisted of nothing more than a fire and a bedroll.

Arashi attempted to set the dragon down on the ground gently, but unfortunately all that moving about was quite the hindrance to his ability to do so. So he just ended up unceremoniously dropping her onto the ground before sitting himself down on his bedroll nearby, against the trunk of a fallen tree, and dozing off. It seemed that the dragon's fidgeting would be unanswered until... Whenever the blonde young man decided to wake up. Needless to say, for Sakura it would be a long night dawn.

Fortunately for the dragon, Arashi finally woke up. Unfortunately, however, by the time he awoke the sun was already high above the horizon. Or at least high enough to shine directly in his eyes and wake him up in the first place. Arashi yawned loudly before hearing his stomach growl, which made a lot of sense given it was late in the day already. So, finding the need to sate his hunger, the young thief dug through his rucksack and removed some foodstuffs. His objective was accomplished, for now at least, so he could afford to reward himself with a larger meal. Once he got to some town he could just restock his food supply after all. No real need to be conservative about it.

Once Arashi finished up heating his food on the fire, he began digging in. Who knew food tasted so good after you rationed it for extremely long lengths of time? In the middle of his breakfast-lunch, Arashi glanced at the dragon he had retrieved yesterday. Now that he thought about it, he probably should give it something to eat. He looked down to his unfinished food. Well, he could spare it couldn't he?

Arashi approached Sakura and took the bag off of her head. Little did he know he was to be in for a large earful. Just his luck.

After being hauled for a whole night to wherever the bloke carrying her was heading to, Sakura was dropped on the ground as the human fell asleep.
The rest of the night, or better said dawn and most of the morning, was pretty uncomfortable for the young dragon and it ensured enough rage to build up inside her to blow apart a whole village.

When the human finally woke up, he seemed to have forgotten about his cargo and peacefully ate, which managed to anger Sakura even more, if that was even possible.
As soon as he made motions to remove her muzzle, Sakura prepared herself to let off steam.
Oh, how he's gonna get it now!
His removal of the bag in front of her mouth resulted in Sakura taking a long breath and then exhaling it while ranting:
"What the heck where you thinking, stupid human! Carrying me around like this is extremely unworthy of my existence. On top of that it's racist! Also, you just kidnapped me here! Without asking! I have a mother there who will be worried sick about me! And Mori's waiting for me. He wanted to go adventuring with me! He was looking forward to that for ages now, poor Mori... Nevermind... what about me?! What the heck do you want from me!? Why do you have to disturb my peaceful life!? I realize a dragon like me is a precious thing to possess, but... I won't be someone's pet or something!"

She stuck out her tongue and huffed just to be totally and awkwardly quiet again.

Well. That certainly wasn't what Arashi was expecting this early in the noon hour. You'd think that after having a night to contemplate things, the dragon would be a bit less... chatty. There was definitely a lot of loud, angry ranting coming from his new 'friend' over there. 'Jeez that's loud...' Arashi thought, covering his ears to silence the noise. Or, at the very least, dampen it a little bit since his ear-covering was doing practically nothing to protect his ears from this chewing out of epic proportions. Fortunately it didn't last too long, which meant Arashi thankfully got to keep his eardrums in tact.

Lowering his hands from his head slowly and carefully, the blonde young man looked down at the dragon in disdain. It was silent, awkwardly so, for the first bit of time. Arashi had no idea how to respond to Sakura's psuedo-interrogation. Mainly because he didn't know what to say without risking the wrath of the dragon once more, but also because he was just so stunned at the fact that she even did so in the first place!

"...You're loud. Really loud," Arashi said thoughtlessly, having absolutely nothing else better to say to the angry draconic female, "And rude. I just came here to give you some food!" As if to emphasize his point, he slid his leftovers toward Sakura with his foot, not risking getting, say, his hair or hand bitten off by the pissed off lizard. "Who the hell're you to be calling me stupid and racist," he scoffed, "Why would I even want a bratty thing like you as a pet anyway?"

Sakura let out a very demonstrative "Hmmpf...", then she stuck out her tongue. "Why don't you release me, then, if you don't like a 'bratty dragon'", she tried to air quote, but alas, no free claws, "It doesn't make any sense to me. I mean, I happily accept your food, but... you're racist anyway for treating me like an animal...also, I'm the daughter of my colony's leaders. If you don't return me, or at least let me tell them what's going on, you're gonna be in a lot of trouble..."

If this fight would have been a staring contest, Sakura would have won by a landslide. Nevertheless, she just chomped down the food offered to her.
"You know... if you keep eating stuff like this, you're not gonna make it very far..."
She deadpanned and continued her staring match against the human.
"Could you just... take these binds of...? They're starting to hurt me and I need to move... I promise I won't breakfast you..."
The last sentence was more thought as a joke, since the human was, height-wise, even a bit taller than her and couldn't possible be eaten by Sakura. Still, she liked the possibility.

Arashi blinked twice before looking at Sakura with possibly the most bewildered 'are-you-a-freaking-idiot' face ever seen in all the lands. This dragon was attempting to negotiate her escape. Or rather, was probably trying to negotiate her escape. If she was, it was horribly such a horribly ineffectual attempt that he almost felt sorry for her. If this was to be an accurate display of her level of intelligence, maybe she couldn't even help him accomplish his goal.

Yeah. Perhaps he should bring her back. If only to get a smarter dragon. Then again, that would make his next attempt about a billion times harder than it was this time. Same case if he were to bring her back and attempt to get a metaphorical refund. Except the latter had much more chance of getting himself eaten. Maybe not by the dragon before him, but probably by the dragons back at the farm.

There was a strange silence after all of the dragon's talking. Arashi, having worn that same look on his face during the entirety of Sakura's speech, sighed loudly, putting a hand to his face and allowing it to slide off slowly.

"Okay. Let me explain to you something. One: I'm not letting you go. Period. Two: We're really far from your home, and, even if I wanted to, I'm not going to walk all the way back. Three: Thanks for disposing of my leftovers. Four: You're probably going to be attempting to escape if I take those binds off. But I'll do it," Arashi said matter-of-factly, before turning away to sift through his bag. He removed another line of rope and approached Sakura from behind, where she couldn't see him.

Arashi tied a makeshift collar to her neck, and tied the other end onto his waist. Then he got to work on the bindings, finally freeing the young dragon. Sort of.

The young dragon shook herself and flapped her wings twice before folding them again.
"See, I'm not gonna flee right now... I realize the futility of any attempt to escape..."
Sakura huffed and wolfed down his leftovers.

"Thanks for the food... Now, what the heck do you want from me?! I mean, you won't just kidnap me for the fun of it. Do you intend to sell me, enslave me? Or do you actually want to partner up with me...?"

She shook her head. Sakura couldn't imagine anyone actually wanting to be her partner.
"Nah... I don't think you'd want to... nobody will. I'm a terrible dragon, I think... maybe that's why you abducted me. Funny, right? Why would fate have it so that you got me, huh? Other than, maybe, that I wouldn't get a partner in a different way."
She laughed and flapped her wings again.

"Anyway, do answer my question. What happens now and what do you need me for. I believe I have the right to know this..."

"Good for you then. Just makes it all easier for the both of us," Arashi nonchalantly said in response to Sakura's acceptance of her fate. Though the young man didn't actually believe her. He was rather skeptical about the claim, given that lying to somebody you didn't like wasn't even that hard, and was still content to strap himself to the dragon by means of the rope collar he had created moments prior. Soon enough, the dragon consumed all the spare food that he had provided it, and Arashi placed the dishes, cleaned of course, back into his rucksack for later use.

"You're welcome," Arashi nodded. At least the dragon had manners, or perhaps was playing nice to secure easier escape. Either way, it was a change of pace from getting rudely referred to as a racist, among other things. Unfortunately, this politeness, like all things, came with a downside. That is to say, the dragon began breaking off into another interrogation, and then abruptly into a rant about its own worthlessness.

Fortunately, it wasn't as if Arashi had kidnapped it based soley on how terrible it was at being a dragon. As long as it could guide him to where he needed to be, this dragon would be an acceptable example of her race.

Arashi breathed out a sigh. "Alright, alright. Jeez I'll tell you (if it makes you shut up)," he began, "What we're doing now, is heading to town, getting supplies, and heading off on an adventure~" He said that last part in a tone that made it seem like he was questioning her intelligence. Which he was.
