It's part of the strategy, believe it or not. I'm sometimes not very good at clever comebacks, but when I can hit them, I do my best because it creates an air of control and authority. Mind games. Plus, annoying your enemy is a really good way to get them to make a mistake; that one was left out of the Art of War. Also, I know I'm not funny.
