It may have, admittedly, yes. But the thing about books, is that they are memories. As long as the book existed, even if it is physically destroyed and no trace of its pages remains, its contents can be recreated. It could end up not being the same exact book that it was, but everything you could possibly need to bring it back is there.

The story doesn’t want to be written because the experience of being destroyed was so unbearable, and can you blame it? But there’s no trace of that desire for nonexistence before its destruction. It just needs to find a reason, again. It existed before, so it isn’t truly entirely gone. Not really.
