The year is 2345, and for a long time, space has been opened up for just about anyone. Spacecraft ferry passengers and goods all across the galaxy, from one end of the rim to the other, transporting all kinds of things from colony to colony. The United Earth Governments Space Command handles the galaxy's safety, doing their best to keep the peace and the law. At least when there's not alien governments involved, things get a bit more muddled there. Regardless, they try their hardest, at least the ones who aren't trying to game the system for their own benefit. But no-one can be everywhere in the galaxy at once, and a crime that once flourished on Earth's seas now flourishes in space.

Piracy! Keeping themselves out of the law's way and targeting anything that'll get them rich, space piracy has flourished, especially in the areas further away from galactic center. Space pirates have a reputation for being ruthless, dangerous folk, who will stop at nothing to get their riches! People who shoot first and ask questions later, people who would kill a man as soon as look at them! And the most feared of them all is a deadly women, styling herself after Earth's pirates of the past! Who knows what this fatal female will do to get her booty?!

... Well... maybe "most feared" is an overstatement... as is deadly... and fatal... and woman...

Welcome to the SS Hametsusen! ... Or is it the Captain's Pride... Wait, Yuriko's Will? That just sounds weird! ... The Lollipop, what?!

... So the captain might not have decided on what to call her ship, but it's still a ferocious ship fit for a... er... "ferocious" pirate captain! Equipped with point-lasers and missile launchers and plenty of cargo space for all the loot, this ship and its crew are out to become some of the most infamous pirates in the whole galaxy! Our captain's mission is to make her name known in every spaceport in every colony everywhere! It's... just a matter of actually getting anywhere near that point, really, especially given who our captain actually is...

So, um, this is a space pirate RP! As you might have guessed from the introduction, it's going to be a fairly lighthearted and comedic RP, though not without its serious moments and plots. However, there's a bit of a twist to this one. Everyone will be part of Captain Iwakawa "The Illustrious" Yuriko's crew, and everyone who makes a character is placed on a list, starting with myself. The RP will be organized in "episodes", and with my supervision, each "episode" will be GMed by a different player. This way, I'm certain there will be plenty of variety in the RP as it goes on. When we reach the end of the list, we'll just cycle back to the beginning and everyone will get to go again.

Some notes!:
-Aliens are allowed, but don't get too out-there.
-Feel free to make NPC's! Rival pirates, members of the UEGSC's law enforcement, anything else you think might fit...
-Keep the tone in mind. This is a lighthearted and comedic RP, though not completely absurd and I do expect more serious plots to occur as it goes on. At the same time, I never want to lose sight of a lighthearted tone entirely.
-Don't raid Yuriko's candy stash. You'll make her cranky.

The Captain herself:

Name: Iwakawa "The Illustrious" Yuriko
Age: 17. Well, except she looks like she's ten. Not exactly the most threatening pirate.
Gender: Female
Appearance: "Time for some space piracy!" Yuriko has light red hair, with light skin, gold eyes, and a black-and gold jacket, hat, and skirt. The skull on her hat is white, and she wears black thigh-highs and black-and-gold boots.
Personality: Yuriko is highly ambitious, aggressive, and energetic. She wants to be known as one of the greatest space pirates to ever exist, bar none. However, at the same time, she is as childish as she appears with a fondness for candy and a cheerful disposition. Her aggressive attitude and pursuit of riches and resources would almost be threatening she she did not appear to be a ten-year-old child. Yuriko loves tales of the ancient pirates of the sea, and happily models herself after them. She dislikes being judged by her appearance and treated like a child, in spite of her often childish behaviors, and feels no small amount of jealousy towards those who are physically more mature. At the same time, she often seeks out "busty chicks" for her crew. Yuriko firmly believes that a good pirate should be able to get by on reputation alone, and not have to shoot anyone unless they need to defend themselves. For this purpose, she wants to leave SOS beacons at every raided ship so they get rescued even if their communications are destroyed.
Skills: Yuriko is a surprisingly good strategist, and remarkably intelligent in spite of her childish attitude. She is a fantastic shot with a laser pistol and has skills in fencing.
Equipment: Yuriko carries a laser pistol, a vibrorapier, and the code key for control of the SS Hametsu, Captain's Pride, Yuriko's Will, Lollipop. The code key means that she can, if necessary, completely lock down all ship systems.
Brief Backstory: Yuriko, somehow, won the SS Can't-Decide-a-Name from a rich trader, and was rather incredibly smug about doing so. It was from here that she made her ultimate quest known, that she was going to gather riches and become the ultimate space pirate!

Hmm... gotta admit, the twist sounds interesting, so count me in. I hope if this does work out I'm not near the top I'd be too nervous ._. I think I have a space pirate idea somewhere, though will probably have to tone him down if I recall rightly.

Kinda interested actually. I've been terribly busy recently, but since we're about to hit Winter and it's a lighthearted story, I don't need to take things to seriously.

If this does take off, It's tough to decide a character since there are quite a few options with this type of RP, but I'm thinking either Captains right-hand footstool or silent bro janitor. Leaning more towards footstool since that's a trope I find pretty funny in these kinds of situations, but we'll see. I'll post what I decide on before I leave for class tonight, well hopefully.

Altho it might be better to roll stoic right hand man considering the Captain, it plays off the energetic personality better.

Name: Allison Yale
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Appearance: "Yadda yadda, technobabble, fixed yer robo."
Personality: A fun-loving woman with a brutally honest mind, Allison is the type who will make her opinions clear, good or bad. She has a tendency to tease her fellow crew mates, playfully ribbing at whatever gets the funniest reaction, though she takes care not to smash a berserk button, most of the time. When she's not harassing crew members, she's tuning up the ship, or her partner droid, designated as "RD-0000", or Rod for short. For someone with her proficiency in the field, as well as her dedication to perfection, it's quite surprising to learn that she isn't really fond of the jon; she just happens to be great at it. It's a living, after all. At least she got a decent ship to work on.
Skills: Pretty handy with a screwdriver. And various other tools. As in she can fix things. Mostly mechanical stuff. While not inclined towards combat, she has an uncanny skill to use her screwdrivers like throwing knives. And use her wrench as a bludgeon.
Equipment: Plenty of wrenches, screwdrivers, and her PDA, used to note down any faults she needs to get around to dealing with. She also has various larger tools in her quarters, and is accompanied by a drone that seems to serve no practical purpose, aside from stalking fellow crew members at random.
Brief Backstory: Having grown up in a family full of mechanics, engineers, construction workers (apparently, one of her ancestors was a super villain-in-training), Allison seemed fated to be yet another generic "Yale'll Repair It Real Well And Make It Better Also" member of the family, until one fateful day, when she happened to be the one called out to fix something for this Yuriko person. impressed with Allison's various talents, she was recruited by the diminutive captain, which Allison decided made a decent change of pace from standing around some garage all day.

Name: "Red"

Age: 20s - he guesses 25ish?

Gender: Male

Appearance: "So yeah, you wouldn't think you could lose a literal ton of comet ice but there I was - 50 degree turn west here if you wanna get to the nearest safe refueling station - where was I?" (Height about 6'3", with a linear burn scar on the right side of his forehead)

Personality: Bright, cheerful, and about as sharp as a sack of potatoes, Red's easy to get along with provided you don't need a lot of intellectual stimulation. He's quite easy to confuse, though he tries to make up for it with his strong sense of loyalty and sense of humor. His sense of humor can be a bit dark, though, and sometimes he forgets they're not actually vicious pirates. As such, flustered apologies come up frequently during raids - no, they're not gonna set you ablaze, sorry! If anyone seems to threaten the person he's chosen to protect will quickly be attacked, though, if the confrontation doesn't end there, Red will lose. He's quite chatty - sometimes doesn't even realize he's rambling - and a tad flirty to any gender. For some reason, he's often up at odd hours to do things like flipping through recipes or pacing around a table. Anything fragile shouldn't be left with him if it's valued; if he doesn't knock it over impulsively, he'll probably drop it on accident. For all of Red's faults, though, he's quick to apologize and does make genuine efforts to improve.

Skills: While a failure in a lot of aspects, this guy seems incapable of being lost. Red's quick to memorize maps and layout plans and seems to have some internal compass. Similarly, he's quick to notice small details, though it may escape him to bring those details up. Despite his difficulty in wielding weapons requiring a fine touch or good aim, he's quite agile with manipulating electronic locks.

Equipment: A set of magnet-picks gotten while he was between jobs, and an electric scimitar. Anyone's free to have it, really, it slices through metal like butter, burns people, and makes toast instantly!

Brief Backstory: He got picked up after a few meetings, actually, mostly due to Red being able to provide directions to promising private fueling stations and side routes. Before Red joined the crew, he worked at a space port on a desert-like planet, sweeping and keeping docking equipment clean. Before that, he worked at the docks to unload and load cargo, except he had a bad habit of dropping or somehow losing things. Before that, he worked at the local inn his savior ran before she fired him for his coordination difficulties. Before that, and the first thing he can remember, he woke up several miles out of town with nothing but the clothes he wore and an electric scimitar half-embedded in his forehead, and he was on the verge of passing out when a traveler picked him up. Bit of a pain, really.

Name: Matthew "Ghost" Shepherd

Gender: Male

Appearance:

Personality: A fun loving gunslinger with whose always on the wrong side of the law. A trustworthy and loyal friend if loud mouth. He is very brash and but not without wit. Often making up a plan as he goes along and changing orders to meet what he feels is right. A self styled ladies man, can be very charming... Mostly charming at least sometimes.

Skills:
A sniper of surprising skill and lethality. His hard suit also allows him to cloak and breath in space for up to two hours. He is also very quiet able to sneak and flank targets or steal items if need be. Skilled at hand to hand as well for close quarter combat.

Equipment: A hard linked rail rifle with scope linked to his helmet. A mark three hard suit, a three generation old hard suit with a adaptive camouflage pack. A bullet firing revolver used as his side arm. A adaptive weapon system swapping between SMG with silencer and assault rifle modes depending on situation. A carton of cigarettes which he often smokes.

Brief Backstory: When Matthew was a kid his father taught him how to use a rifle and gave him the family pistol. His dad wanted him to be a farmer but he had other plans running away at age sixteen he began to work as mercenary putting that gun to use. Two years later he had his own custom hard suit and a rail rifle using those he gained notoriety as "Ghost" A phantom who dropped targets for cash and always got the job done. A year after he had a bounty placed on him by UEGSC for killing a man, no one has asked why as they afraid he'll gun them down to. After avoiding being caught for months he was corned in a spaceport surrounded by bounty hunters when Captain Iwakawa Yuriko offered him a choice, work for her on her ship or she would leave to die there. He choose to live and has served faithfully since, often throwing her candy to make forgive for not listening to her orders on some occasions.

Name: Miyu Koizumi

Age: 24

Gender: Female

Appearance

Personality: Bubbly and energetic when she has something to do, glum and miserable when shes bored. She loves action, and will do most anything to escape boredom. On top of this love for action comes her courage, and with that comes her loyalty and her need for interpersonal stimulation. Always ready to branch out and do her own thing, but smart enough to know her limits most of the time. However, her love for action can sometimes cause drastic changes in personality, as previously mentioned, almost to the point where she can become a completely different person whenever she doesn't have anything to do, becoming cold and bossy even to her companions. On the flip side, some combat scenarios could cause her to reach a state of sadistic euphoria, due to her need for movement and love of combat.

Skills: Impeccable accuracy with her rifle, she is able to control her movements and focus on any goal even in the chaos of battle. She is very agile, and this, coupled with her bravery in battle, allows her to be a feared opponent. Her loyalty allows her to work in the group's best interests, even when she has to make a personal sacrifice to do so. Can also cook and is handy with her fists.

Equipment: A sturdy, but precise, laser rifle that gives her the ability to fight whenever and wherever.

Brief Backstory: Born into a very wealthy and large family with a good deal of political influence, it was clear from birth that Miyu was different from both her peers and her kin. Never one to sit around, she preferred exploring anywhere she could when she was young, even if it got her into trouble. As she grew older, she grew more distant from her parents and other relatives, and began to hang around with a much tougher crowd. Her parents, who gave her anything she wanted, tried to get her back on a more sensible lifestyle, but to no avail. At the age of 18 she left home and cut ties with her family. Throughout the years, she's learned many skills, but has exhausted many of her opportunities. She figured that the next logical step was to conquer the stars, thus, she joined the pirate crew.

@Apollosarcher: Hmm. While I can understand the use of a scout, I'm not sure Yuriko would want a sniper. I don't mean this to say she wouldn't want someone who can hit their target from really far away or anything like that, but given Yuriko's belief that a good pirate shouldn't have to kill people unless it's in defense I'm not sure she would employ someone who is basically a pre-emptive killer, like a sniper. Now, a scout who could take out people actually attacking them is different.

Age: 34
Gender: Apparently, female, for all that her species is sexless.
Appearance: The girl of many different shades. She's also absolutely tiny, due to a racial tendency to rarely deviate from a specified volume: she's about 2'8, and easily carried around.
Personality: Rather slow to react and in general outright appalling at complex social interactions, Rose wears her heart on her sleeve and approaches everything with either single-minded earnestness or total disinterest. She's possessed of about as much malice as a paper towel and thus, even if you try and brutally murder her, she'll still be your friend.
Skills: Extremely good cook, nigh impossible to kill without energy weapons or fire coming into it--she'll just regenerate the damage immediately. She also has limited control over her form, sufficient to form outfits of various degrees of fanciness as is appropriate. If she's sad she goes blue, and if she's scared green. Otherwise red.
Equipment: Knives! The kitchen has a lot.
Brief Backstory: One of the... stranger crew members, she represents a species of aliens that probably aren't actually aliens--more an Earthly lab experiment. For a start, their appearance is determined wholly by which species contributed DNA to their creation, along with many of their capabilities--being malleable and prone to colour-changing for one reason or another is one of the few universal traits--as is being able to more than triple their size if you water them. Rabbits, wolves, goldfish, humans, and even tree variations have all been recorded. Rose, however, simply showed up at the docks one day and asked if Yuriko needed a cook.
Position in Crew: Cook (though she's trained to be more than that).

Well his talent is sniping, but most snipers general have to confirm a target before they shoot or have or just fire a warning shot. I mean it's all relative, it's not about the weapon it's how you use it.
