Janet and Sam Ziegler are sitting cell block C after spending time at the fence clearing walkers playing a game of card with a set Sam had in her pack that she found a few runs ago. The set of cards was worn and had seen better days, but it some how wasn't missing any cards. After Sam found the deck Janet took it upon herself to teach her younger sister how to play poker, and it seemed that would back fire on Janet because Sam seemed to be too skilled in the fine art of bluffing. "Well, Jan are you going to fold or not? I'm pretty sure that would be a good idea in this case sis." Sam's face was unreadable as she spoke each word empty of feeling or anything else that Janet can use to see past Sam's poker face. "Oh no, you're not getting me this time. Show em." Janet flipped over her cards with a two of a kind of jacks. Sam smirked showing her hand which was a three of a kind of 8's which means that Janet just lost what was left of her "money." "Well, looking like I win this time." Sam cooed smirking. "Yea yea." Janet got up and looked around seeing that some of the others had been watching them play. "Great, people saw me lose."

Lara Lupin sat at the opposite end of the cell block as the intense card game drew everyone else's attention. She had little interest in it, but still enjoyed the fact that the people in the prison seemed to get along well. She was still pretty new around here, but already the prison seemed more fair than Woodbury had been. Everyone had a definite place and was absolutely essential to the survival of everyone else. She sat on a crate, polishing her single brass knuckle. She wanted to go on the next run, but she knew it was unlikely. Rick had been holding her back to help Beth and Carol take care of the kids. She wasn't thrilled about the job, but if it's what earned Rick's trust, she'd do it. She wanted him to trust her enough to let her out of his sight. She'd been around for a while now, but she didn't quite fit in. Everyone else had already proven themselves. She was eager to do the same. She would kill a million walkers. Hell, she'd kill the Governor if she had to. She just wanted to be one of them.

Janet sighed and walked past Daryl who was standing by the table the girls where playing on. He nodded at her as she passed, and she nodded back; Daryl then went back to his task of checking over his crossbow bolts for any damages. He didn't much care for the out come of the game, but watching the sisters play was a nice way to pass the time. Janet, and Daryl had a close bound that wasn't sexual in anyway. They both knew that if shit had hit the fan they would have each others back, that much was proven when they spend the winter after the farm in the wild. Sam just watched as Janet left and laughed some. "That's what she gets for making me learn poker." Sam laughed picking up all of the cards and shuffling the cards together then pulled out her gun to start cleaning it. Janet made her way to her cell and crawled into bed. She knew that soon she was going to go on a run with Rick, and Sam for some supplies so she wanted to rest a bit.

The crowd around the table started to disperse, Rick Grimes being one of the members. He made his way to Lara. He nodded at her, eying her carefully. "You want in on the next run?" He asked. She wasn't totally convinced that it was because he trusted her. "Hell yeah." She grinned anyways. "Gear up in an hour." He said over his shoulder as he walked away. Lara nodded even though she knew he couldn't see her. Her heart did little flips inside her chest. She was going on a run! This was exciting. It was her chance to prove herself. Her chance to earn a place among the people here. She promised them silently that she wouldn't fail them.

Sam was watching Lara carefully when Rick was talking to her then looked back to the gun she was cleaning trying to get it ready for the run. Maggie was watching Sam for a bit then walked over the Rick to talk to him for a moment. "Are you sure you want to trust Lara? I know you'll have Sam and Janet with you, and I trust your judgment Rick but she did come from Woodberry. I guess what I'm saying is be careful for me." Maggie really wasn't sure about Lara, but was willing to give her a chance. Michonne turned out ok, but she still was feeling uneasy from her capture in Woodberry. Janet sighed and watched Rick and Maggie talk, but was unable to hear what they were saying. She was happy to see the Rick had started to regain his sanity after Lori died she then rolled on to her side.

"I don't trust her and that's exactly why I'm taking her." Rick looked Maggie in the eye. The look he gave her was an intense one. "This will prove her loyalties. I'm taking them past Woodbury to see what her reaction will be." Lara could see Maggie and Rick giving her looks. She immediately knew they were talking about her. She knew Maggie hated her. She didn't know why. It's not like it was her fault or her doing that she and Glenn had been captured by the Governor. If anything, she felt she should have earned some trust by willingly leaving the place and laying herself out before Rick and his group. She guessed that that just wasn't how the group ran.

"Well, you should be fine if she turns on you if Janet is there. Just be careful, you've gone thru enough as it is Rick." Maggie smiled softly but there was a hint of worry in there. She nodded softly then headed to her cell. Daryl looked up from his work to Sara unsure of what she was about. He was a bit more willing to trust her then Rick was but it was in Rick's hands. He just did what he could do for the group to survive on a daily bases. After he checked his bolts he grabbed his pack and crossbow. "I'm heading out for my hunt Sam, if anyone asks for me tell em' I'm busy." Sam looked up and nodded quickly. "Sure thing Daryl. Bring back a buck." she smiled and went back to her work as Daryle just grunted to acknowledge he hear her then headed out his cross bow over his shoulders.

"I know, I know." Rick told Maggie. "But everyone deserves a chance." She was already walking away, but he said it anyways, half to convince himself. Lara had gone to her cell shortly after Rick had told her he would include her on the next run. She packed her things so that they would be conveniently easy to reach should she need to use them. She tied some cloth around her forearms to protect against bites. She wore a thick hoodie for the same reason. She knew it would be hot as hell, but she would rather be hot then bit.

Janet rolled over, looked at Rick and sighed sitting up. "I know my word might not mean much on this matter, but I feel like we can trust her. She didn't do anything harmful when we were in Woodberry to save Maggie and Glenn when she could of fucked us over. I guess what I'm saying is I'm glad you're willing to give her a chance Rick. Know I'll always have your back no matter what, and when shit hits the fan I'll be there guns blazing." Janet smirked getting off the bed and leaning on a wall. "Besides, you can't have all the fun now can you." Sam was almost done cleaning her gun when Michonne walked in and over to Lara and took a seat next to her. Sam looked up at her for a moment then back down to her work. Machonne was starting to grow on her for sure, and after she helped save Maggie and Glenn she was starting to become ok in her book, but she didn't like how Michonne would keep to herself, and not give much information on who she was. Sam figured she had her reasons, but it didn't make her feel easy. "How are you holding up Lara?" she kept her voice down some for really no reason but to have some feeling of privacy.

"Thanks, Jan." Rick cracked one of his rare smiles. "I have no doubt about it." He patted his shoulder and walked away. Lara looked at Michonne. "I'm doing alright. Better than I deserve." She gave her a smile. "What about you?" She packed the last few things in her back and slung it over her shoulder. She was doing everything she could to keep from jumping up and down from excitement. She couldn't wait to go out. "So. That Woodbury, eh? Some crazy shit, right?"

"The Governor is the problem with Woodberry and so are his henchmen. Glad I got out of there when I did but it wasn't without a cost." Machonne placed her hand on the leg that was shot and checked the wound. It seemed to be doing better thanks to Hershel, but there was still some pain left over that she could work past. She found her self more concerned over Lara. "I just hope Rick knows what he's gotten himself into with the Governor. Keeping heads in a tank, and his walker daughter?" Michonne didn't want to think about the tanks or Penny, and a man like that needs to be put down. Janet smiled as Rick walked away and turned back to her cell to pack up her gear. She grabbed what little ammo she was allotted carefully putting it in her jacket pocket for later, and holstered her gun to her hip. She bent over her pack that was on the floor by the bed and looked for her hatchet and couldn't find it. "Where the hell could it have gone?" She looked under the bed and found it waiting for her. It must of fallen out at some point. When it was in her hands she looked it over and sighed seeing her fathers name on the blade. She tired keep the guilt at bay but it was welling up in her gut as she thought about her father's death. If only she had kept a better watch he would still be there with her. She snapped herself back to the moment and hooked the hatchet to her paints. She grabbed Sam's pack along with hers and Sam's scooped rifle, and walked back over to Sam who was wrapping up with her side arm. "Here, I brought your gear with me so you don't have to go back to the cell." "Thanks sis, just set it next to me if you could."

Rick gathered his group in the middle of the cell block, counting heads and guns. He was still missing Lara. He'd asked Michonne to stay on site. He didn't want anything funny happening while he was out. His team consisted of Lara, Sam, Jan, Daryl and himself. He trusted that that was all he would need. Lara saw the group huddling in the middle of the cell block. She looked at Michonne. "The Governor and his goonies are a bunch of assholes and can go to hell." She grinned, making the comment seem almost innocent. "And for the record, I'm glad you made it out before shit got real. I'm glad you convinced me to go along." She smiled again and then left to meet with the group.

"So what all are we looking for Rick?" Janet adjusted her pack as Lara joined the group. "I assume the usual like ammo, food and water." She was ready to go. I had been too long since she went on a run and she just wanted to head out. The last time she left was to save Glenn and Maggie, and she did not enjoy that at all. Sam looked to Rick waiting to hear his response to Janet's question. She too was curious if there was anything they needed besides the basics. After all, this was a larger then normal group for a run so Rick might of had something in mind. "So who goes in what car Rick? I can take Lara and Sam." Daryl pipped up his crossbow in hand.

"We're looking for basics today. If you can get your hands on any medical supplies, you get extra points." Rick paused for a moment to think. "Why don't you and Sam take a car, and I'll take Lara and Jan. That way nobody's alone." He looked at Lara. She was all set with a half smile plastered to her face. Lara grinned as Rick suggested she go with him. This was her moment. She was so ready for this and she'd prove it. She was a member of the prison just like everyone else. She wanted him to know that. Carol Peletier watched the assembly below with little interest. Judith sat on her lap, tugging at her shirt. She looked at Beth. "Medical supplies would be the best. We're running low on formula too."

Janet looked to Lara and smiled some. "Looks like you're with me. Just watch my back and you should do fine." Janet was trying to make Lara feel welcome unlike some of the others, but still kept her eyes on her just to be sure. She wasn't like Sam is with new people and how she just keeps them away; Janet liked to engage with them so they didn't feel like they had no place in the group. "We better look for anything we can use for Judith as well. She's not going to stay small forever after all, and she'll need clothes for when that happens." Janet looked at Rick waiting for him to make the move to the vehicles. Sam and Daryl started to head outside together not really saying much, if anything. They both had a mission they needed to get done, and nether was much for small talk. "Do you want to drive or should I?" Sam didn't really care about the answer but felt like she needed to ask anyway. "Nah, I got it. It's better if you keep your eyes open for any trouble on the road, I can handle drivin'." Daryl has a point, after all, Sam was a good shot from a distance, and had eyes like a hawk. If there was any danger it would be best if she didn't have to focus on the road. Beth was sitting not far from Carol and nodded. "Yea, Judith needs to eat to grow up to be big and strong after all. Isn't that right Judith?" Beth got up and knelt down to the baby's level and tickled her belly softly. "Yea, you're going to get so big you'll be able to pick up your daddy."

Lara nodded in agreement with Janet. She smiled at her, grateful for her kindness. It was something few people had these days. Rick gave the okay to move out. He came to stand with Lara and Jan. He nodded once at each of them to make sure they were ready. Lara nodded back excitedly. She seemed so eager to get out and it honestly worried him a little bit. Not so much because he didn't trust her, but more because she was small and potentially vulnerable. He didn't want any bite accidents. He couldn't afford another lost member. He nodded again to signal that he too was ready and headed to one of the cars. He watched as Daryl and Sam got into the cab of a pickup truck as he slid into the driver's seat of a small sedan. He figured Jan would likely take shotgun and, by default, Lara would take the back. It was just a pecking order thing. Lara waited for Rick and Janet to take their seats before hoping into the back seat. She held her gun in her lap for easy reach in the case of an attack. She knew the Governor could be out there with his pals and she was more afraid of him than a few biters. The car would likely protect them from the undead, but definitely not The Governor. Carol grinned and nodded at Beth. "She will. Though, I hope she's still as sweet as the Judith we know today. I'd hate to see this world change her." She planted a kiss on Judith's head. The baby hiccuped and then giggled, kicking her feet.

Janet took her seat in the front placing her pack by her feet. "Let's hope we don't have any bullshit to deal with like a group of walkers or the Governor." Janet shifted in her set some at the idea of running into the Governor. He repulsed her after she hear what happened to Maggie. She was going to go on that run as well, but had to stay back. If she had gone then maybe they would of been ok. Maybe. Janet was deep in thought not really paying much attention to what was around her. She was thinking about her life before this mess hit and how she missed her job and her co-workers. Sadly, that life was as dead as the walkers. The only person she had left from that life was Sam, and she wasn't about to let her go. Sam and Daryl drove to the fence and stopped waiting for Rick's car. Carl, and Maggie where by the gate waiting to open it for them so they could go.

Rick drove closely behind Daryl and Sam, keeping an extra pair of eyes on the fence in case a walker unsuspectingly found its way to the fence. He leaned out of the window when he saw Carl. "Keep an extra close eye on things. I'm still not entirely comfortable leaving the prison with that asshole running around." He referenced the Governor with an expression of held back distaste. He knew Carl would understand. Lara watched the interaction. The relationship Carl and Rick had was special. A sort of father-son relationship that entailed more than that. More like two very close friends with a clear leader. It was something she rather envied. She had so few friends now that the world was a big ball of dead things. She didn't know if she really even had any. There was Michonne, which, though they weren't tight, did share a common past. They'd spent time in Woodbury, left it and came to the prison. That was about the extent of it. Lara had chosen to follow Michonne out, but before that, she'd never talked to the woman. There was also Hershel. She wouldn't really call him a friend. He was just nice to everyone. Something to do with religion, she supposed. Ya'know, treat others as you would want to be treated. She found that he was easy to talk to, though. He always listened and only gave advice when you asked for it. Janet had also been nice to her since she had arrived. She wouldn't really call her a friend either as they'd only had a small handful of conversations since the day she'd walked in. Janet was nice, but sometimes seemed a little distant.

"I will dad. Be safe." Carl opened the gate for the cars to drive thru then quickly shut them when the drove off. "Think they'll be ok with Lara?" Maggie turned to Carl. "Yea, I think so. Besides, he's not going alone." Carl turned to head back to the prison with Maggie. Janet snapped herself out of her train of thought when Rick talked to Carl. "We need to take care of the Governor as soon as possible. That kind of man isn't just going to leave us be, that much he's made clear. Sam and I could sneak into Woodberry and kill him that way. Sam is a good shot after all. Then we'd be done with it." Janet didn't like knowing that she was being watched by that asshole, but she knew better then to go off on her own without Rick knowing. The Governor was watching the prison from the woods when he saw two cars leave. "Follow them. I want to know where they go, and when they stop." He was cold with his words and turned to Martinez. "If you see Michonne grab her. If not grab anyone else. This time we won't screw this up."

Andrea listened as the Governor told Martinez his careful instructions. What was he going to do once he nabbed someone? Make a trade for Michonne? She had to keep from snorting. It wasn't going to happen. She knew Rick would never fall for that. After all, he hadn't bartered for Glenn and Maggie. He just blew a hole in the place and took them back. She shot a glance at Merle Dixon's back. He followed Martinez. She hated that man. Rick finished rolling the window up, keeping a careful eye on the road and all around it. He didn't want any nasty surprises, dead or alive. "We'll take care of him eventually. Right now, I think we should gather our strength. The man has buddies. Taking out the head won't necessarily take out the entire body." Lara agreed with Rick. The Governor had a pretty loyal team of soldiers and, let's face it, fangirls. It wasn't likely just killing him would solve much. It wouldn't be long before someone organized a group big enough to mow over Rick's in a matter of seconds.
