Hiya, AChronum here! Although I'm relatively new to rping, I have plenty of writing experience and love trying new genres and styles. I absolutely love high magic fantasy RPs and am pretty much willing to do anything so long as I can create a charaxter, not play an existing one, and develop lots and lots of backstory! I'm perfectly comfortable with all mature themes as well, although smut for smut's sake is out of the question.

Renji barely registered the pain. Adrenaline rushed through his limbs, leaving him practically vibrating. The rush was addicting. A wicked grin fixed itself on his face as the howling kobold lunged. He threw an uppercut into the monster's jaw, quickly following it up with another punch across the jaw and a kick to the chest to knock it back.
He leaped towards the other kobold, aiming for it's face with his foot.

He barely registered the human rushing past, fixated on the blood red eyes charging down the corridor. His blood pounded in his ears. He felt himself tense up. Fear rushed through his veins. He felt hot then cold then hot again. All he could think was “Run. Run. RUN!” The scream broke him out of the haze just in time to take most of the claws to his bracers, a little blood still spilling. The stinging pain jolted Renji back into action and he shouted back at the thing, gabbing its head with his other hand and slamming it down into his knee before following up with a roundhouse across its face.
He kept the momentum up and used the motion to take a fluid step towards the other kobold, snarling as he lashed out at it with his fist.
Renji smirked up at the dungeon, practically vibrating with excitement. Although it had been embarrassing with the Goddess fussing over him with the rest of the familia watching, he really did appreciate it. His Grandmother didn't believe in haircuts, something about scissors dulled three times over and the number of fates and blah blah blah, so he hadn't been sure what to do with his hair for the dungeon. It reached just past his back and he had been worried about monsters grabbing onto it. Thankfully, Aphrodite pulled it into a tight bun and pinned it in place at the back of his head. She definitely made a few choice remarks about it too. Apparently he would be getting it trimmed tonight after the dungeons. Something about split ends and conditioner. Renji shrugged and turned his attention back to the dungeon, a familiar excitement bubbling in his stomach.
And then it happened. His breath caught in his throat as Feron walked by. That was what he wanted. To be as strong as- no, stronger than!- Feron. He wanted his name on everyone's lips, he wanted to reach the deepest parts of the dungeon, he wanted to be someone his familia could be proud of!
"I swear Feron. I'm going to outpace you if its the last thing I do!" Renji vowed right then and there before he bolted into the dungeon, excitement and nervousness buzzing in his veins.
So I had two ideas about Aphrodite and her familia.
1 h Aphrodite is a low key micro manager and super nosey about all her children's business. Since everything that represents her nist be beautiful, everything needs to work together perfectly while maintaining the illusion of effortlessness so he works from behind the scenes aggravatingly well.
2 - The familia iwns a large bathhouse in town that closes bi monthly at the very least for familia meetings, which are mostly massive spa days for everyone to get together, relax a little, and work on maintaining everyone's beauty routines.
They we're just ideas I had while I was putting my sheet together! Thought it would be a cool flavor component for the world.
Renji’s comes from a large farming family, twelve people crammed under one roof, all tending crops and livestock, shuttling them to Rezion, and selling them at the market. The whole family turns up, his grandmother and his father taking turns shepherding the kids around the city and manning the stall.
He decided to become an adventurer when he was eight. Renji managed to escape his father’s tired watch and found a sparring area for the adventurers. He observed with rapt attention and he fell in love with the profession.
He practiced the moves he saw everyday at home, bales of hay training dummies for his punches and kicks. His grandmother blamed these violent tendencies on his overly competitive nature and tried to ban him from doing it. His father just sighed and ignored her, blaming his need for attention as a middle child. Renji said fuck you guys, very much under his breath and far far away from his grandmother's eerily sharp hearing, and left as soon as his younger siblings were old enough to take over his responsibilities on the farm.
Xenos stretched, absently attempting to adjust his glasses before realizing he didn't wear any in this world. He rolled his stiff neck and closed the book he had been working out of, shoving his equipment into his bag and gathering up the books to be checked out for the evening. He chatted briefly with the librarian, promising to be careful with them and headed out to grab a bite before meeting up with River. He picked up something quick, dropping a nickel for something quick and scarfing down while balancing a book in his other hand. He read as he walked, muttering apologies as he periodically bumped into people.
He would have walked right into River. Instead, Xenos ended up blinking up at him as an irritated Pots growled at him after knocking him flat on his ass. Xenos chuckled as he stuffed away the book, picked himself up, and dusted himself off while shooting off a sheepish smile at the other man.
“My bad, my bad!” Xenos apologized. “Got stuck in the study zone whoops.” Pots continued growling at him. He rolled his eyes at Pots and turned to look at the pair. “Oh, this must be Aster! You should have mentioned you were bringing a princess River!” Xenos slid over to Aster and bowed dramatically. “How you managed to survive this wildling’s company is beyond me.” He stage whispered to her. He sent her a wink and stepped back. He nudged Chari and smiled at her before turning around to speak with the Watchmaster.
“Heard ya needed some help! We got a few other stragglers on their way and we will be ready for duty sir!” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Summary: Checked out books Ate food (-5 Renn) Got knocked on ass Spoke to Watchmaster
Xenos nudged Chari and bid her adieu, reminding her to contact him if she wanted to hang out around town. He left the inn, whistling with hands in his pockets. He wandered aimlessly for a while, just watching NPCs and players interact. He smiled at a loud group making their way out of town, heading to the Savage Fields dungeon. Guess the newsletter made more than a few comfortable trying their hands at this. If people weren’t willing to push out into dungeons without information, that information might as well be as valuable as their lives. He made a note to discuss that with the guild later.
He pulled up his inventory and winced a tad. Although he didn’t regret it, the gold for the information on the Astral Blades would be sorely missed. He dismissed the menu with a sigh. As nice as walking around town was by himself, boredom quickly inched its way to him. The nightwatch quest wasn’t for a while yet. Oh, actually maybe he could get a few others in on it. It would be a fun way to meet some of his future guildmates, maybe make a few better impressions that he probably has. He quickly typed out a few PMs and shit them away.
Hey there! I wanted to do the night's watch quest tonight and thought it would be a fun way to spend more time together! Bring anyone else you too! The more the merrier after all!
Maybe he should work on his skills or his stats. His mathematics and architecture skills needed a little love and he just didn’t feel like working on his gathering skills because the first four days taught him repeatedly that it sucked. So studying it was. Xenos sighed again. Even in a video game, he couldn’t escape college.
So he spent a little while asking around about a library or a school or anything really. He got directions quickly and made a beeline for it once he had. He wandered in and greeted the librarian at the entrance, inquiring about the usual policies, check out length, organization of the library, operating hours and the such. A little pop up message appeared as he filled out the odd looking library card explaining that certain texts and stories will require the linguistics skill to decipher while other informational texts will be auto translated just like regular conversations. Xenos sagged dramatically with relief, he librarian shooting him an odd look and the laughing when he explained he was worried that everything was written that way. The librarian directed him to the mathematics section and he flipped through several. He put it back carefully and zipped out as he realized he needed paper and a pen to practice with, purchasing an empty book and a ink and quill set before returning, smiling sheepishly at the librarian who just rolled her eyes, and grabbed a few practice books, settling in to study.

"Uuuuugh we’ve been wandering around for so looooong.” Xenos complained. "I just want to get this over with so I can jack up my skills! I have plans and shit and this is not one of them!” Xenos kicked a rock on the ground before he slapped River on the arm lightly. "Just send the guy a PM and have him meet us for breakfast. My plan is going to get in the way of the festival at this rate. I’m not dropping the efficiency of gains just for this quest." Xenos frowned thoughtfully before pulling up the dashboard, groaning at the time. "I’ll just readjust my plan of attack for this.” Xenos headed off, waving quickly to River and sauntered away. First and foremost, a friendly face and hopefully some information. He grinned when he spied a familiar face struggling with a rather large bouquet.
“Marie!” He jogged up to her as she turned, a smile wide across her face. “What are you doing just wandering around here huh?” He jokingly chastised her.
“Flowers for the shop!” The girl, no older than six, displayed the fresh flowers proudly. “I told Grandpa we should get pink flowers but Grandpa really really wanted purple so I got purple but the lady was nice and gave me blue ones too!” A few flowers slipped out of the bouquet as she swung it around excitedly. Xenos chuckled.
“Well darling, you've done a good job! Sebastian is going to be so happy with all these!” Xenos beamed down at the girl. “How is your arithmetic, Sebastian still have you working hard?” the girl's face scrunched up.
“I don't like numbers.” She grumbled as they walked. “They're hard. I like painting better.” Xenos reached down and picked the girl up, mostly to save the poor flowers from being dragged on the flower and bopped her on the nose. He continued on once he hand her comfortably situated on one hip.
“Didn't you want to take over the shop from Grandpa one day?” Marie nodded. “Well, you'll need numbers for all sorts of stuff. Counting money, measuring out ingredients, keeping track of the number of boys you have crushes on.” He laughed as Marie muttered “Boys are gross.”
“I'm wounded my Princess! After I've willing been your steed, you think me gross!” He set her down in front of the family's shop and clutched at his chest dramatically . “Oh the betrayal! Sebastian, you're raising a heartbreaker already!” The Old Man raised his eyebrows as he thanked the girl and replaced the flowers at the front of the stall.
“There, there.” Sebastian flipped some kebabs on his grill. “Marie pull out your numbers now that Xenos is here. Show him what you've done today.” Xenos leaned on the counter as Marie pouted but laid out her papers. He checked over it, pointing out errors here and there.
“So anything exciting today pops?” Xenos asked as he worked with Marie. “Crazy customers, fun gossip, the likes?”
“Well, actually...” Sebastian glanced over to Xenos and beckoned him closer. Xenos leaned in excitedly. “Gossip only starts trouble.” Sebastian stage whispered to the adventurer. Xenos' face fell flat as he glared at Sebastian’s back, shoulders shaking. Old people. How rude.
“But actually yes.” Sebastian pulled two kebabs off and handed them to Xenos, who dropped a silver on the counter. “It seems some guild of adventurers is contesting the Miners Guild rights over the mine's resources. A few of the shopkeeps and the blacksmiths have already gotten together over the issue. People are muttering about how the adventurers are moving to cut out us citizens.” Sebastian shrugged and helped another person while Xenos chewed on his food.
It was only a matter of time until someone else had the same idea he did. Xenos made faces as he mimed a rather annoying customer to Marie, keeping the girl giggling. If they really were planning on crushing competition, his life was about to get way more difficult and that was not acceptable. That needed to be stopped.
Xenos opened the dashboard, reading over Datalink 66 information. He should subscribe to that newsletter. If this is how the game is going to be played, he needed all the information he could get. He spent another hour chatting with Sebastian and Marie, wishing them both a good evening and promising Marie a present the next time he showed up.
It took some questioning from several players and NPCs but Xenos managed to find the Guild House of the guild Data Link 66. It was located on the outskirts of the city, in one of the less-luxurious neighborhoods. The building itself nestled in between other, smaller houses. It was 2 stories high with no more than 3-4 rooms. Xenos entered the entrance on top of the small, stone stairway.
”Welcome to Data Link 66, your primary information network~” A cheerful voice comes from a girl dressed smartly. She rises up from behind a desk to greet you. You look around and don’t see anyone else. You guess that they are all either out or upstairs at the moment. ”Would you be interested in joining our exclusive daily mail list?”
"Actually, thanks for reminding me! I did want to do that!" Xenos responded cheerfully as he waltzed up to her. "But I need a bit more than that I think, beautiful. Some of the NPCs in town are all abuzz and I was wondering if I could source them here."
”Abuzz… regarding what? If you have any specifics…” The girl scratched the side of her head with a pondering tone. ”Well, there’s the Solace Festival coming up, which I’m sure you’ve heard of. I hear that there are some major guild-related activities going on out there...”
"That'll be exciting to be sure! Actually I think I'm going to be doing the whole guard duty quest and such but no." He tapped lightly on the desk. "I'm much more interested in the guild trying to get their hands on resource rights."
The girl's expression changed into a sly smirk. "Ah yes of course... looking for information on other guilds." She leaned in a little closer to Xenos' face. "Unfortunately, we aren't allowed to reveal such... valuable commodities for free."
"I should of started with that apparently. You look down right devilish like this." His own smile turned to a smirk and he leaned forward on the desk. "I wouldn't presume that is free. But what's the going rate for the fun stuff?"
"I hear that often~" The girl smiled. "I did used to work at a information brokers' firm." She proceeded to pull out a scroll and a quill from the drawers in the desk. "First, I will need your name and any affiliations. Guild rules."
"Xenos Fontaine. And currently unaffiliated. Hopefully, I can twist the Legion of Wolf in my favor after this though." Xenos stilled his finger. "And I wouldn't mind meeting the devil herself later over drinks, completely separate from business that is."
The girl scribbled down on the parchment, dipping the quill into the pot of ink every so often. "Maybe if I have the time." She sighed a little. "Business has been booming and they need me here most of the time." She finished recording Xenos' information. "Well... Business first though right?"
"I feel like you should request for paid time off as a benefit if you're here that much. But we could always just slip away for an evening, I'm sure we can find someone distracting enough." He winked and straightened. "But yes, business first. I need info on that guild and the deal it's brokering, maybe something on the council members just because. So where do we go from here?”
"Well..."The girl tapped her dry quill against the parchment. "There are really only 2 ways to... buy information. First is the obvious; you grease some palms. Second though..." She looked at Xenos. "Information can be worth.... Information."
Xenos raised an eyebrow at the pause, smirk still firmly in place. "And what sort of information could possibly interest the darling devil? I imagine a lowly tinker couldn't possibly get his fingers into anything you don't have your fingers in already. Though..." He cocked his head. "I never could turn down a challenge."
She gave out a small chuckle. "Let's be honest here, you don't seem like someone who knows this business too well. I'm going to guess that you don't have any information that are worth anything." She grinned a little more innocently however afterwards. "And save the flattery for the off-time.... if I can get some." She paused for a moment. "As charming as you are, I'm gonna need to see some coins for what you want. Tell you what, 2 silvers and I'll tell you what the word is on the streets."
"Tis true, I'm afraid this business is a tad out of my league. I'm much more suited to forges than politics but I'm desperate." He shrugged. "And I guess I'll try and save the flattery for later. You just make it so easy." He chuckled. "Though call me greedy, I need a bit more than word on the street. Three new subscribers and dungeon clear data is worth a hell a lot more than two silvers, especially with an organized guild interested in one of those, wouldn't you agree?"
"Well, what is it exactly that you wish to know?"
"I need to know what their terms are and what their bargaining chip is. I doubt the Council would change a functional system unless a hefty incentive was flashed in front of them. That could just be me being cynical but meh." Xenos shrugged. "Though if you don't have it, I'll settle for word on the street. Yours is likely more reliable than our panicking NPCs."
"I see I see...." The girl turned around and started rummaging through the rows of drawers, opening and closing them in search of something. Eventually she pulled out a scroll with a red ribbon tied on it. She came back to the desk to face Xenos. "One of the latest reports from one of our reporters regarding the subject you are talking about." She put the scroll on the table. "I assure you, it is much more than just words on the street. But 2 Silvers is what you'll be paying for the bare gist."
"Or more." She continued after a pause. "Contents of this scroll is much more than some Silvers."
"I'll take it off your hands for three gold." Xenos paused. "And four weeks subscription for myself paid in full. So, four gold total."
The girl smiled. "I'm afraid the entirety of the report it's worth much more than that. It comes from a very reliable source and contains much more details than what we are speaking of. But for 3 Golds.... I'll let you know what they are trading, what their terms are and what they are up to at the moment."
Xenos gabbed the coins from his inventory and slid them over to the woman.
The girl pulled out another scroll with some terms on it after picking up the coins gleefully. "Sign here. Basically says neither party will reveal anything about what happens here and now."
"My lips are sealed." He mines zipping his mouth shut and signs.
"Astral Blades is trying to sign a deal with the Council ruling Genesis City for the exclusive rights to protect Crystal caravans. Stuff used as ingredients for most magic items. If they get the deal signed, they'll be paid steady income daily in return for their combative services. I hear... something around a Mithril a day..." She licked her lips for a breath before continuing. "But Council isn't about to bring out the big coins unless they are sure Astral Blades can be depended on. So as a sign of allegiance and to demonstrate their capabilities, they've decided to flush out the latest drug ring that's been developing.”
"Of course it's a drug ring. Whoever started that really capitalized on this whole depressed players issue. I almost want to applaud them for their ingenuity." Xenos shrugged. "Anyways, thanks for the info. Glad to hear my interests and theirs aren't crossing. Now can I pay for a week of this subscription now or do you guys accept it another way?"
"We accept coins. As usual. People usually sign on weekly and come by here to pay. If you want to pay for 4 weeks, that'll be a Gold. It gets released every 7 days so.... we'll have our first issue tomorrow!"
"Fantastic!" Xenos dropped another gold on the counter. "I'll pay ahead because otherwise I'll forget and who wants that."
The girl smiled and put the coins away. "I hope you got what you came for. We do like priding ourselves on our.... services." She began organizing her desk and putting the scrolls and parchments away. "Both regular news and.... irregular information."
Xenos gave a little bow and smiled cheerfully. "I got more than I expected really but pleasant surprises all around.I appreciate you time." He turned to leave but stopped at the door. "And please feel free to take me up on my offer whenever! I'm always down to have some fun!" He waved and headed out.
Xenos rolled out of the bed he shared with River, groggy after another nightmare. He stumbled out of the room and into the inn, slouching at a table. He rubbed at his eyes and blinked a few times, clearing out the last vestiges of sleep before ordering a glass of water. Probably should since he hasn’t had some in a bit.
Now for the waiting game. He absently swirled his drink, waiting for River and Reylan. As long as River followed directions, everything should get neatly set up today.
