The premise of this RP is that The Old Gods Of Evil have been summoned to Earth in the year 1999, just prior to Y2K. The game would be filled with tropes from 1970-2000. Player "classes" and thus their skills and abilities would come from character archetypes of characters from 1970-2000, as would be the villain's archetypes.
I got this idea from Stranger Things coming out, also, there's a game called Kingdom of Night that heavily inspired this idea, where a horde of demons overwhelms the small town of Miami, Arizona, in the year 1987, and the main character becomes an action RPG character.

This game will have original characters, only with actual cameos or whatever from old tv shows and other media, etcetera here and there. I'll try to have it make sense to the setting as a whole. For example, Lovecraftian horrors might work, but actually having Skeletor, or Muum'Ra, for example, wouldn't, this is it's own setting. Instead, I might introduce a skeletal wizard I'll name "Skeletra" for example.

In the small town of Big Rock, Maine, the unassuming elderly man, Leland Grant, has opened a brand new store called "Fancy Things". Your character, whether on vacation, whether they are a local, or are just passing through, meet each other in Big Rock. Maybe they've bought something from Mister Grant, maybe they're noticing the very weird situations going on in Big Rock. The point is, something WEIRD is going on. At first, you are just ordinary people, but when something very terrible happens, and something even much worse ALMOST happens, you will be rescued just in the nick of time, and then you will be armed with what you need to make the world a better place.

You will be traveling from city to city, town to town, etcetera, solving problems, much like protagonists from Japanese Role Playing games. Sometimes you might be investigating situations or talking before you actually fight, sometimes you'll just have to fight.

Orranoth
The Sky god had done much already, merely by drawing the Ideal Patrons into the universe. He had unfortunately, felt embarrassed by the great chaos he had incurred into the world of Ashuruh by trying to nourish life. The Sun had caused much havoc. The village of Radanu, which he had blessed with the artificial sun, prospered, but even they were going to leave, just as Orranoth returned as his disguise as an old man. "I am the one who blessed your ancestors with the Little Sun. Turn to me, because I will bless your lives with relief and prosperity you've never seen before."
"I brought the Sun here for the goodness of your lives all those years ago, and I will bless you again." Orranoth briefly transformed into a partially exalted form, with his body shining enough to awe the folk here, yet was supernaturally gentle on their eyes, at the same time. He merely waved he hands at the sky, bringing periodic gentleness of rains, coolness of winds, and he, with his power over the sky, regulated the harshness of the Sun over time, so that the climate of a large region over Ashuruh would be gentle enough to survive and even prosper in.

The townsfolk were in awe over Orranoth, worshiped him over the display of his power, and over time more worshipers came to Radanu, which may one day become a kingdom, not merely a village or two.

Would you like to role play Liute being Orranoth's son?
Orranoth
Orranoth, great god of the Sky, begins to erect a monument of Light which he would call "The Sun". The Light of the World of Ashuruh. This magical, stellar body would be similar to the artificial sun that he conjured in the village of Radanu, only this Light would be a fixture of the world, hopefully for eternity, granting the world light and life over the eons. The light would cause life to flourish under it's gaze. Orranoth conjured an illusory dagger, pricking his thumbs with it's edge, and he literally bled light, in this case a ball of light would spring out.

The ball of light and fiery power would be magically compelled to die down before the night and rise at the dawn.

Orranoth

The Sky god noticed that the world was harsh down below. One particular town was on the verge of literally eating each other out of starvation. The ground would not produce enough food. As a result, Orranoth, out of concern, created an illusionary miniature sun, the size of man's head. This sun would fizzle during the night and rise again from perpetual burning embers during the day light hours, and grant it's nutrients to the soil, eventually it would produce a mild crop yield for the surrounding countryside, and during more prosperous times, it would even yield bonanzas worth of food. For now, it would serve the ordinary folk with what they need to survive, and their situation would not be desperate.

Orranoth

The God Of Skies looked over the world. His mighty gathering of the Ideal Patrons had tired him. For now, some of his strength came back. As a result, he wandered the world in his "mortal" form, a disguise of a simple old man in a pointed hat, walking on a staff.
Orranoth walked mortal lands looking for a worthy "apprentice" among the peoples. In this guise of an old man he would offer help where he could, sometimes making life better for entire villages and tribes, and not just a particular person. He had some specifications for apprentices. They had to be at least ethically inclined, and most of the time they had to have at least above average intelligence. Most apprentices would be young, for their species.

@VecHello, i see that this game is still open. However, the gods position are all taken. Can you tell me more what is still open? I'm assuming mortal as superhero or something but I love to see your input

In addition to gods, there are mortals, and I suggest taking it up with Vec if you want to rp a sub-god type called a "Patron".
The first of many. @Vec

Definitely wasn't goaded to put this forward. >.>

Who's a good kitty familiar?
Excelsis, the Lord-Eminence

"Magic? Curious." Excelsis said. As the method was named, Excelsis felt himself developing new senses to pick up on this magic. Crystaline protrusions grew, strange lenses revealed other powers in the skies. How curious. This magic was omnipresent and usable by seemingly anything and everything. Mastering it would be simple then.

The insult slid off of him like water off of a duck. He wasn't stupid. He was, perhaps, the smartest of them all. "Because any attempt to shatter me might break yourself as well." Excelsis pointed out. He would defend himself of course. "Besides, I only did what was natural. I saw a perfect version of myself and attempt to become it. Any reasonable divine would've done the same thing as I did." The god-orb said rather matter-of-factly. He did question why there were no more consumed Patrons and Matrons?

"Why do you even care for this Patron?" Excelsis went on. "They are of reality. We manipulate reality to our wishes. They are our natural born lessers." Again the question was sincere. It seemed that the god must suffer some delussion and the Lord-Eminence was determined to figure out what kind it was so he could better steel himself against it.

"They aren't rocks, or grains of dirt. They have feelings, identities, sense of purpose, and self awareness. There's so much more to them than just being tools." Orranoth pointed out. "If the only thing making someone worthy of life is power, then all living things are in a clear and present, AND future danger."
