@Wraithblade6I think it'd be like a cancer as a disease. (I'll discuss with my biology professor about other possible similarities). Maybe over a few weeks it gets really spread through the body and then it basically kills the person as they have crucial functions stopped and rebuilt. Then the disease gets them back up because diseases exist to spread and killing things is actually not their plan.

I think we can combine these. Say, a bite from a vampire injects these 'vampire' cells in your body. These cells are extremely volatile, and act over the course of 3 days, giving the host superhuman abilities, but with an extreme energy cost, and due to the cells' unique chemical makeup, can only be satiated with blood.

Well, depends. In some cases, the trait is just recessive. The bite won't affect the target at all, and will just turn them into a minion. However, if the trait is co-dominant, the bite will "shock" the trait into overriding the other, which makes the trait dominant and turns the target into a vampire. Due to this sudden change in your gene, many changes are noticed. Pale skin, high metabolism, etc.

I just like the idea of hyper violent vampire cells, more than DNA shit. I think the disease thing is more plausible and flexible when it comes to the story.

@Witch Cat Thanks for the effort, but I really don't like it. First, i feel like making this legend about Lilith is misogynistic. You could probably equally develop a myth starting from Kain. Secondly, how can you have "alive" vampires? You can't make life if you are dead... then you also get the problems with half breeds and quarter breeds, and eventually vampires get bred into non-existence. Lastly, it's just not right to be both immortal AND be able to have a family. That causes population problems.... and I don't like having two specific kinds of vampires either. :P

But that's just my opinion.

I hate to bring in preexisting properties, but this sorta reminds me of JJBA, with the talk of a family of immortals. In the show, a really long time ago, a bunch of superpowerful beings roamed the Earth, think vampires+. They needed to feed, but they were careful not to overbreed due to immortality and food availability. Then this fucko Kars gets born, thinks: Man, look at this mask im so cool and more powerful n shit. But, he needed much more food. Like a lot more. The rest of this society tries to kill him because he and his rebel friends will eventually wipe out all life on Earth. But due to his ability, he killed all his people.

Long story short, a family of vampires could lead to problems with feeding and population.

My idea on how vampires are made while I'm half-asleep

Taking a look at all of the myths revolving around vampires, I was severely disappointed. They all seem to say the same things. Vampires devour, trick, and are like really pale. But while snooping around the internet, I believe to have stumbled onto a clever idea. Vampires can not turn other people into vampires.

Crazy idea right? Well, let me explain, it all started when I discovered Lilith. The Mother of Vampires (or sometimes demons).

She was a rebellious child of God, refusing to be submissive, and thus was casted out of Eden. Bitter and filled with contempt, she swore to devour every child of Adam and spread her own underlings onto God's green Earth.
Lilith would seduce the good men of God, stealing their sperm and utilizing it to give birth to Demons and Vampires. Giving her the title "Mother of Vampires/Demons".
And some ask, "What would happen if a Vampire bit someone?". Simple, they turn into a vampire. But not a vampire vampire. This bastardised version of a vampire is cursed with ever lasting blood lust, and if not fed will go wild. However, keep it happy, and it will willingly submit to the will of their master (The person who first bit them), making handy minions.
"Normal" vampires are made through birth, some speculate there is a vampire gene that can be passed on through the generations, some say Lilith herself consumes the baby and places one of her own children instead. No matter what way you believe vampires are made, bottom-line is, vampires can't be made by other vampires through biting. Though giving birth to one is a legitimate way of getting a "normal" vampire. Though this is rare with Vampires with an active vampire trait as their sex drive is basically zero, people who carry the gene but aren't affected by it don't face this problem

what if, say, the gene was rare and recessive. and if you had the gene buried in your DNA and was bit, would the gene activate? Because if not I would have to rewrite my backstory. Darn.

Due to extreme regeneration, Atlas could systematically cut off limbs to experiment on. But I would imagine the difficulty of getting a vampire corpse that wasnt turned to ash

I understand, but my character is a real science guy (bill bill bill) with theories and such. I am just making rules for Atlas to perform experiments by, but I dont want too much science so as to ruin the illusion.

@Wraithblade6Honestly I feel like that may end up being a point of alteration for this series. I think we might put vampirism as an entirely uncurable disease that replaces ALL of your cells. I mean I've done the opposite with lycanthrope which is instead just a person who doesn't have control over their morphologic magic and are changed by natural forces.

I think as a magic disease theres a bit more play room. On the other hand holding all these old rules and then changing that may be two steps forward and then two steps back contradictions.

I was thinking of how that would work. I thought that vampire cells were aggressive, supernatural versions of regular animal cells. So you could put them against the microscope and they would look different. I could go deeper into this, like how the cells reproduce aggressively, and the iron and chemical combinations of human blood are some of the only things that can keep them alive and powered and such. But thats just me.
