The only reason I think there are more than one kind of the same gem is because there are many different types of quartz, many different colors of pearl, mutli-colored diamonds. It is very possible that is what they mean by the same kind of gem or how they may introduce it.

I don't think it will be Yellow Diamond but I guess we will have to see.
I am still hoping it will be Pearl/Garnet fuse or one of the gems and Steven. I think that would be neat ^-^

There is speculation if there are more than one of the same kind of gem. On top of that, it is hard to say that it will be a fusion of those two. Just like Pearl and Amethyst form Opal, it is hard to say that it won't be something like that.
To be honest, I hope that Sardonyx would be a fusion of Pearl and Garnet since it hasn't been shown yet or maybe one of the gems and Steven finally fusing.
