Legolas watched and listened to Yavanna, to the point where his surprise became apparent when she took off her necklace, and placed it within his palm. Honestly, as much as he'd wanted to stay with her, he had to venture out to clear his thoughts. But for this gift to be handed to him, it was a gift for the princess to express her concern and love. "You've found great friends; great enough to be family", it was almost like a blessing that he would accept Yavanna's decision to befriend the dwarves, as well as an apology when he criticized her on her choosing of friends, back in Mirkwood.
Having to see Tauriel approach the two, the blonde elf looked back at the girl before him. He wasn't sure if he should do this, but felt the urge to. Placing one hand on her cheek, the Prince laid a lingering kiss on her forehead. He was going to miss her, certainly. He was determined to see her green eyes once more, when they crossed paths again. "Keep a weather-eye on the horizon", he informed her, before turning around to see Tauriel ready to begin walking. Giving her one last squeeze upon her hand, he reluctantly let go, holding the girl's necklace, while following the red-haired she-elf away from the Mountain.
"Very well. Take care of yourself, Kili. Pay your mother my respects and my condolences", the elder understood, and with that, he left, leaving the young Durin with his godmother. "We can leave tonight if you'd like", she suggested.
Legolas and Yavanna walked hand-in-hand towards the entrance of the Mountain. For the Elf Prince to leave, he would only hope that it would allow him to have a clear vision to how he truly feels for the princess. Suggested by his father, to venture up North, would give the time he needed to do so. "I travel North", he said. "The air must guide me. For the wind might lead me...back to you, someday", he told her, promising her that he shall return. He didn't know when, or where, but promised to see her again, in a much better light.
Balin understood the young Durin's every word, and nodded. "Consider it done", he said in confirmation. Before he could even take his leave, he turned around once more. "Where will you go, laddie?", he asked, wishing to know where the last heir would consider on going.
"Long live the King!", Saeril and Legolas proclaimed with them, along with Dain who bowed his head to pay his own respect for the Sons of Durin. With his one hand holding the princess' own, the Elf Prince put his other one upon the back of her head, letting her cry against him when she needed to.
Sometime later, Saeril and Balin had spotted Kili standing by himself and, when knew of his earlier sadness, she approached him. "I suppose that with the king and your brother, that would make you king, Kili. I do hope that you know this", she said to him, softly.
Okay. It would be nice that Yavanna fell over with Aragorn when she tried to save him. I also think it would be nice that Legolas/Yavanna kiss after the Battle of Helm's Deep, or during it when he saves her life once again.
Actually, it's from the Extended Edition of Return of the King. I'm not sure where or when, but it's probably where they are in Gondor.
Legolas allowed Yavanna to lean against him, against his chest, while he held her hand and rested his other on her forearm in comfort, as he watched the amount of sorrow before him. He had never seen this much sadness, ever since the departure of his mother. Grief has surrounded them, and Saeril watched in her own amount of sorrow, having to look at Yavanna for a moment, before looking at Kili in the distance, as he stood next to his now-deceased brother.
It was only for a few minutes until all of the dwarves left the platform and the elder she-elf elegantly approached the bodies. With her hood above her head, the guardian of Durin's Folk proclaimed an Elvish chant between both bodies, asking Mahal to preserve their bodies, and guide their souls to a better place where they can be protected for all eternity. With a bow upon one knee, the winged she-elf left the spot, and back to where she was standing before, next to the three elves and Kili, having to place a hand on the youngest's shoulder.
"The King is dead!", declared Gandalf. "Long live the King!", Balin said next, before the rest of the Dwarven brethren repeated after him. "Long live the King!", drawing their swords in respect.
