So I'm not sure what just happened exactly because the post was deleted before I could read it and I only have a copy of the summary to work with. But.

I feel like there's some fairly serious issues to be addressed, even if nothing in that creation post is kept. The underlying problems that caused that post to be the mess it was were issues of understanding and attitude towards this whole project, and I'd rather not see them come to the fore again in the way they did.

I tried to run through my thoughts fairly quickly as explanations or questions, but after messing around for like 40 minutes I couldn't figure out how to do it concisely. I really don't want to fill anyone's life with bad vibes, but for the sake of being quick and simple I'll just drop things in as blunt a way as possible.

So, at the risk of being the jerk who brings up old mistakes.

The summary.

Work. Within. Your. Means.

Limitations are not a bad thing. Limitations are a problem that needs thinking about. Thinking makes things interesting. Mistakes make things interesting. Characters trying to figure out ways to get by without resources is fascinating.

We're not playing Warhammer, despite all the jokes and references. We're not playing to win. We're playing to make the story as interesting as possible. Characters and stories can be interesting even if they lose- Sometimes especially if they lose. Characters can be interesting even if they're dead. Pick a saintly martyr, any saintly martyr, and look at how loss influences their story.

Avatars cost more than that, details about them are in the mechanics section. If you're pulling something weird with temporary avatars, that's fine, but read, compare, and run that through other people first. Weird shit is fine. We love weird shit. Unexplained shit is a different story.

Technology costs time and Might. We're in the bronze age. Yes it's fine to try and speed up our advancement every once in a while. No it's not ok to bring about AI, starships, stargates, Cosmic Knight ripoffs, and fuck-knows-what-else in a single post, with no precedents, no outside help, and no resources spent.

Consider the following.

Hider

-It took 1 Might just to make the baby arks, 1 Free Point to make them able to grow up (already something pretty unique to Jvan as a portfolio action), and four posts just to grow them up into maturity. The whole time, they've been made using Jvan's own inherent powers and style.

-The Cosmic Knight factory was made by four gods and a demi through a huge display of teamwork, using 6 Might points and an Ark. The ark in question was almost destroyed in the process.

-Teknall's workshop was made in a personal plane, within which he is far more powerful than normal. It was made with the help of another demi. It cost 16.25 Might and a lot of detail of Teknall doing what's been his thing since the start.

-Jvan's satellite factory was made inside her body, and cost 12 Might.

-Heartworm's lab was salvaged out of pre-existing materials and cost 2 Might. Everything that goes on in there has been done with the help of hundreds of engineers, dozens of cultists, and within Heartworm's own personal powers. Still gets no Might discount, though.

-Arksynth took a Might point, the death of the god, and a big subplot just to create what Jvan could technically have done for free.

-Major portals cost 1 Might each unless you're Belvast.

I'm not trying to say that Might is everything. It really, really isn't. But it's important to how the game is played.

What's even more important is character themes and nuance. What other characters have been doing fits in with who they are and how they're developing. Jvan does Jvan things, Teknall does Teknall things, Ilunabar does Ilunabar things, Lifprasil does Lifprasil things.

Amartia does everything. And that's boring. Because what Amartia should be doing is Amartia things. Not Jvan things, or Teknall things, or Full Metal Alchemist things, or whatever.

Logos gave you a power-up? Cool! Amartia is changing as an individual? Nice!

It doesn't mean he won't lose. And losing doesn't mean he's not cool.

Now do something interesting. I know you can.

Say Teknall goes to Alefpriel. His god-sense is more than adequate to observe every single person and object in the city and beyond. Tira and the GodKiller are definitely within this radius. Would he see the GodKiller, or is that hidden to his god-sense? Would he see Tira, or is she hidden too? If so, is this an obvious hole in his perception, or is it something he might only notice with detailed inspection, or is it completely undetectable?

Furthermore, say Teknall goes walking around Alefpriel, and happens to pass by Tira. How close would he have to get to start suffering the passive detrimental effects of the GodKiller?

Poog's call, but the way I imagined it, Tira isn't hidden from divine detection, but there's nothing particularly 'interesting' that shows up about her or her cup when scanned. When close to her, though, their 'hang on a second oh shit' senses might tingle a little. Then the OST from The Thing starts playing.

I'd like it to remain possible for gods to come into contact with her, since there could be interesting reactions going that way.

Speaking of- There's a story that documents Vulamera's death, and another subplot that took Vakarlon out of the game, if you're interested.

tl;dr spoiler if you want to skip to the end

The Codex of Creation was in Vulamera's hands, and she studied it on the moon of Cogitare. After many years, Vowzra came to find her, only to discover that she had actually torn one of its pages. Vulamera was absorbed into the Codex in order to repair the damage, resulting in her demise.

With Vulamera's death, her barriers on Serandor disappeared and Vakarlon began to weaken as he slowly lost the internal battle over his psyche. Heartworm, a rogue avatar of Jvan, offered to solve his problems by turning him into a decentralised, non-conscious entity, the essence of which is spread through many instances of a substance- 'arksynth'. Through desperation, Vakarlon accepted.

So Heartworm ran him through a meat grinder and bottled the remains.

A question: What writing systems are currently prevalent on Galbar?

I know that bastardised Tounic calligraphy is in use in the ironheart mountains by the rovaick, but what else has been made?

I'm wondering for a possible mortal arc later on.

There's the Spiral Script, an Urtelem-exclusive ripoff of circular Gallifreyan. It's supposedly a very information-heavy script, so much so that it's virtually incomprehensible to less math-orientated species. I think that was because someone else wanted to introduce more widespread conventional forms of writing.

Beyond that I'm not sure. Alefpria might have its own written system based on what Ilunabar and the Divas used when designing the city, since Lif's been mentioned to be doing paperwork, and the whole Ilunabar studio crew, like any club of art students, is full of diagrams and post-it notes and such.

Jay Blue

Theme: Deet deet.

Age: 20. I'm not old you're old

Gender: maybe

Race: Human! No wacky hybridism going on here. i mean, there was that one great-great-aunt We don't talk about her. Or her dragon boyfriend.

Appearance: Tall, fairly broad, soft and round, though not visibly overweight. A big teddy bear of a dude. Has short, spiky hair, dyed pink. Wears long-sleeved shirts, usually tie-dyed. Numerous bracelets and bangles on both wrists. Often seen with a scarf and headphones. Brown eyes. Mixed-race Singaporean and Australian.

Personality: Jay, despite his flustered protests to the idea, has become very motherly over the years. It doesn't stop him giving high-caffeine energy drinks to six-year-olds, but Jay does tend to worry about his younger friends. Not one to fuss, he's nevertheless always checking on them, counting them to see if anyone's missing, and making sure they're warm and hydrated. In winter Jay carries around an umbrella at all times in case he finds someone who doesn't, and often gives away his scarf too (they're like ¥200 at the thrift shop, relax). In summer he has a clean bottle of water on hand. Jay is a good listener, always happy to help small people discuss their problems at him, and offer what little bits of care he can. Bear hugs are a thing too.

When alone, Jay tends to space out easily, sunbathing or watching clouds. Sometimes he catches a bus just because it's there, or gets lost for the pleasure of finding his way home. Polite towards his elders, Jay tends to grow concerned rather than worried when things go wrong. Jay almost never swears and absolutely never says anything lewd around his pals. Doing so will leave him cheerfully scandalised.

Abilities: Since birth Jay could communicate with arthropods- That is, most creepy crawlies. How deep exactly this telepathic link goes is a mystery. In any case, Jay has a beehive on the roof of his apartment, and often naps on park benches with a butterfly on his nose. At night he likes to look at streetlights and give directions to moths, or help a spider spin its web. Flies and mosquitoes don't bother him or his friends, and cockroaches behave themselves. Rumour has it he keeps a giant hornet in his sleeve, but this is false.

Skills: Jay works as a janitor part-time, so he's real good at cleaning things. Before that he did a work experience course at a hair salon, so he's pretty good at brushing and braiding hair too. Also, he's currently earning a degree in political theory.

Equipment: Phone, headphones, notebook (slash dream diary), scarf, armbands (including organ donor chain), jacket with deep pockets, pack of marshmallows, wallet, photo of his partner, and a cheesy grin.

Brief Backstory: Born outside the Imaginary District, Jay spent most of his childhood safe and sound in a fairly privileged middle-class home. As he grew up, his ability to commune with the little critters taught him to take care of those who were smaller than him, and to always see the best in people even if the world rejects them. His parents had similarly low-key powers, allowing them to live as effective dual citizens of Miura City and its hidden district, keeping their abilities and the existence of the latter suitably hidden. Jay met his current partner in their last year of school, and they have a close long-distance relationship while they study abroad. As much of the District is populated by people with a non-human lifespan and life cycle, the competition between students applying for their bachelor degree in the Imaginary University is less fierce than elsewhere in Miura, and so Jay applied and started studying there simply out of convenience.

Political alignment: Despite all evidence to the contrary, Jay is actually a raging communist. To prove it, he's decorated his front door with a poster of Karl Marx in a party hat.

Favourite food: He really likes pavlova.

Understanding the finite nature of all things in life is an important part of overcoming the inevitable pain of nostalgia. We and our environment are constantly changing, so no remembered pleasure can ever be truly relived across the barrier of time.

Shit memes come pretty close, though.

Someone once raised the idea of having a sealed basement with one hideous introverted artist in it, without the knowledge of the people living in the house. The artist makes art and sells it all day to generate money for the family, which lives in comfort, oblivious to the existence of an enslaved art goblin in their basement.

I'll confess I've never actually played a Sims game so I don't know exactly how the mechanics would work, or if it even could in this version, but the story was funny.
