Fallout Tactics has death claws that can talk, scary killer robots, and the ability to have a tank. It just doesn't... Sit well with the rest of lore.

Praetor might be once again he more of vampire hunter than regulator. He just kills them to thin the ranks... He's a real asshole, other times he's polite and friendly, heck he teaches humans as a pass time. Also he's a necromancer and killed his way through history... Damn he sounds broken as hell when I talk about him like that.
They are but they aren't fanatical, Valm changed a lot as there call to war came from spiritual belief that Naga wanted them to defeat the conqueror. So they kind of went nuts with it, general Ylisse worships Naga but they have more gods than just Naga. As they've said many times "By the Gods!" Implying multiple.
It's actually the National Religion in most Valmese countries thus they support it. Rosanne is where there head quarters are located in a great Cathedral dedicated to Naga. Ylisse, Plegia, and Ferox have a few converts but most are neutral, thus targets for the church.
Jacob smiled as he rushed archer, two arrows went flying one stuck in his shoulder and another grazed his cheek but he didn't stop, he just grasped his sword tighter. He pulled it out and with one swoop the Gheb was dead, as were his men. Jacob turned looking at the those around him, spotting another swords men and a young girl... No wait, a Dark mage easy to spot them there magical presence was... Different to say the least but they were good at hiding it to. "Thank you for aiding me, I'd be dead if not for your brave efforts."
As he spoke he ripped the arrow out of his shoulder gasping before quickly applying vulernary to the wounds. "I suppose introduction are in order, I'm Jacob, a tactician and Naga's Champion if Lady Tiki is to be believed." He sighed examining his ruined robes. "Great, I'll have to get this tailored. Anyway if any of you would like to join me I'm heading up to the castle, I need to see about some aid for my quest." He turned his robe fluttering behind him. He almost looked regal as he walked towards the castle people watching in awe, those who had hidden now cheered. The Champion of Naga was real, at least to them.
Sure! He could be a guard or a soldier that volunteers to join them.
"I have a solution, I once read about a army that simply murdered soldier that didn't do as there commander ordered. Should I try that? Or maybe just reduce your wages ever time I catch you drinking."
And I have to some how keep you all working together and a coherent fighting force. Well it's not easy being the smart one.

I swear all we need a Mirabelle type person and were set.
So after the fight we will be moving onto the castle and the academy. Jacob is going to get some help from the current Exalt and the headmaster of the academy. I may also introduce lord class character, but I'm not sure right now.
