Or the wrong ones. You can literally find research that supports anything. I could probably Google 'Reasons for why the sun is a figment of our imagination' and get a solid ten reasons why. You can find research that supports either side of the argument.

*dante and Virgil exit the elevator and step out into a room full of armor. There are all kinds and types. Heavy and light. In the middle of the room there are two sets of armor. A red and black set that resembles a European knight only heavier, and a blue and black set that resembles a Japanese Samurai armor. The two go to a supply closet in the corner and get stools, and two cleaning and polishing kits. They sit on the stool and begin to clean and polish their respective armors. Back to back *
Virgil: you know we don't need these anymore. We only ever used them for training purposes.
Dante: it's tradition. It's our... Good luck charm.
Virgil:*sighs loudly, but there is a smile on her face.*
Dante: *without looking* ding sigh like you haven't got the biggest grin on your face at this exact second.
Virgil: *smiles wider*

Virgil: what is it?
Dante: Maybe you should wear your armor...
Virgil: *pauses in her cleaning for a moment. Before continuing and speaking in a terse voice.* oh? And why is that?
Dante: Because you got massacred last time you saw Mundus. If he double crosses us, you might really need that armor.
Virgil: and what about you? Don't you need armor too? Aren't you vulnerable?
Dante: It's different Virgil.
Virgil: *now fiercely cleaning her armor.* why is it different Dante? Because you're stronger than I am?

Virgil: And you need to protect your sister huh? Because I can't take care of myself. Well I'll have you know I took perfect care of myself while you were out helping other people, instead of us. I protected us, so no I don't need you to do it for me.
