He crouched down before a dead piranha hound with his back turned to the others, and horrible slurping could be barely heard as the dark scholar engorged himself in the cerebral cortex. Once he was done, he rose back up and followed the others, now brimming with psionic energy from all that he has consumed.

Combat Mode can only be fired on one target at a time, following usual attacking rules. Alternatively, the weapon can be instead fired in Marker Mode, where it can be fired on one target while dashing (the action doesn't count as an attack), two targets while making an attack move, three when moving one square, and four when standing still. Note that the targets must be in eligible range of Caretaker when the markers are fired. The effect of the marker lasts for 5 turns including the turn it was used.

In the briefing it was mentioned that Mist immediately responds to any direct attacks by activating with no cooldowns. However, @Mr Rage has the right idea on how to tackle it, so if all pilots work together you can take it down. Elora's HUD upgrade also informs when the weapon is activated.

Unlike the other adventurers, who were probably completely distracted by the swarm of bats, Nazr instead reveled in the abundance of tiny brains that came up to him like in a buffet. Tentacles burst forth from the impenetrable darkness of his hood, and snatched up bats to his mouth with a terrifying precision and quickness. The others couldn't see a thing, so he didn't mind letting his true nature shine as he ate countless living brains full of the delicious taste of primal instinct for him to savor. As Nazr was still undetected by the hounds that continued their assault on the rest of the party, he continued his opportunistic ways and slammed two more talagmites into the spines of the disgusting sharp-toothed quadrupeds.
