No. The bo'sun is only responsible for the rigging while in port, when it's all rolled up tight against the yardarms. He is in charge of the supplies, the longboats, ensuring the deck is clean and things in their place, the anchor, running the flag up the pole and other minor issues.

The master of sail is responsible for the angle of the jib, spanker, foremast, mainmast and mizzenmast. Generally, if I remember correctly, it has been ages since I did my reading, the jib and spanker are used to bounce wind into the other masts. See, if the wind is coming from directly behind the boat only one set of sails would fill with wind and block the others. By angling the vessel several degrees to port or starboard they could catch more wind, and through the use of the taut jib and spanker, bounce wind into the other sails.

It's a lot of work and requires a great deal of concentration. Every time the wind shifts you need to send sailors scurrying like ants to adjust every aspect of the sails. He or she can't do much else and maintain optimum speed.

Name: Celeste Robillard
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Height: 5’6”
Job: Pirate
Title: Quartermaster

Personality: As quartermaster Celeste has to be tough. Celeste was naïve and simple once. That day has long past. Now she is bitter and cynical. She has become lewd, crude and is often times rude but she can assume the airs of nobility if there is need.

History: Celeste was once a noble woman in France, married to a baron at sixteen years of age. They lived as husband and wife for a few years before the baron's master-at-arms tried to take both the baron's life, title and wife. It turned out that the master-at-arms thought that the lessons in swordsmanship Celeste had requested was a ruse so she could be with the person she really wanted to be with. Celeste, during the battle fell from the castle to the waves below.

Since then, with her husband dead she took a position on the first ship she came across after proving that she could hold her own with a sword and became a pirate. Her academic upbringing made her something of a rarity and had her an officer in no time. She can read! She can navigate using a sextant and she's almost mastered the art of the sail. She still has to think about how to set the sails according to the wind but doesn't have that instinctive grasp yet.

As quartermaster Celeste serves a function much like a "union boss". She represents the crew and protects their interests against the possibility of the captain taking advantage of them. Generally, the quartermaster repeats the orders the captain gives and ensures they are carried out. Her echo of the captain's orders explicitly tells the crew that all is well. If the captain tries anything funny... like keeping too much of the treasure or leaving port without enough food to ensure the crew's survival then the quartermaster stops repeating the captain's orders and the crew, the crew simply stops.

Weapons of choice or other necessary equipment: Celeste prefers the pistol and when going into battle she has four of them attached to the small of her back, two in her hand and a thin rapier at hip. Generally she prefers to stand back, give orders and watch the enemy for any surprises, rather than run up and start fighting.
According to the link you sent:

"Originally, on board sailing ships the boatswain was in charge of a ship's anchors, cordage, colours, deck crew and the ship's boats. The boatswain would also be in charge of the rigging while the ship was in dock."

Thus, generally a boatswain or bo'sun, is in charge of the deck and cargo areas while the Master of Sail is in charge of the sails above. I rather suspect that the pair work in concert since they share the same common pool of hands.
I should point out that the master of sail doesn't touch the wheel for the most part.

His or her job is to adjust the rigging in order to catch the wind at its best angle. Some e sails need to be taut, other loose and they must all be rotated.

He or she must work with the helmsman while tacking back and forth if the wind is directly astern or ahead.
This is my sort of thing. Perhaps the Hallows Inn can open into several places? Some people play wilderness characters, others play city styled.
If each Dungeon Keeper is a solo act, attempting to conquer the known world, who or what is it that we'd be interacting with on a post by post basis?
I'd be interested in playing the part of Quartermaster. Being able to challenge the captain on matters might prove rather interesting... and if he mucks up too much, the SHIP IS MINE!
Kichirou, Road to Village with Ichiko

"Familiar?" Ichiko echoed, "I fear I am not. I merely travel where gods demand and protect the people of the world from oni, yomi and other threats and to aid local kai."

The blond woman paused, dwelled on that thought and then her crimson painted lips formed a smile. Yes, definitely ronin. A samurai would know the lands he travelled. Such a shame for a boy so young. He would spend the rest of his life trading his skills in combat for little more than rice. Very few samurai lords or daimyos would hear the reasons for a ronin's exile, let alone accept a ronin into service.

"As you could imagine, being sent to hunt such beings or aid local spirits does make one wary. When the heavens keep sending you towards things they would like purified. It makes for an interesting life. Perhaps, with fortune, we shall cross a tea house and we may ask."
The important thing is that any applicant should be a rookie X-Man. This effectively means "mutant" is something of a requirement. If he were simply naturally born instead of the result of lab experiments that would be fine. For a bit of a change, to get away from the similarities between him and spiderman ne could go with psychic webs or something.

On another note, finally got a chance to see the Captain today. It is quite the excellent movie. I highly advise everyone to see it. It's made me quite excited to see the next few episodes of Agents. Once again, Marvel is the master of the stinger. You must stay through the credits!
Kichirou, Road to Village with Ichiko

Obviously a ronin then, a samurai would demand obeisance. Which brought about the question, why was he ronin? What did he think of her, she considered, did he see her as little more than a travelling oiran? She had been mistaken thusly in the past. Or perhaps he saw a maid travelling on orders for the local samurai or daimyo? Thankfully, he was too well dressed to be a bandit. Ronin nearly always retained their honor until they began to feel the rigors of deprivation.

Of course, the real question that arose became, "What was it within that sack?". A child would fidget more, create more noise. Was it a kai or perhaps an oni of sorts?

"The Celestial Bureaucracy has determined that I travel this direction," the Onmyoji stated, "and thus it is my honor to obey. Perhaps the next village is my destination. Perhaps my destination lies beyond. Come."
