Lord: Lord Lucarys Velaryon
Seat: High Tide
Heir: Lord Laenor Velaryon
Religion: The Faith of the Seven
Army:
Holding an isle which possesses both rich, volcanic soil and one of the largest trading hubs on the narrow sea allows House Velaryon to field, in rare times of war, one of the largest armies in the Crownlands. It is estimated that when levied, Driftmark can produce upwards of six thousand armed men for any conflicts its lord many involve himself in.
Comprized primarily of footmen, as islands do not offer room for extensive pastures, the Velaryon host consists of around four thousand front line soldiers evenly divide among heavy and light infantry, one thousand archers, five hundred heavy horse belonging almost entirely of the isle's knights and five hundred crossbowmen. Additionally, Spicetown employs a city guard of professionally trained and well equipped pikemen who number at one thousand at any given time, bringing the total up to seven thousand soldiers, although the guard would rarely leave Spicetown, making the last thousand men a defensive force if anything.
It is worth noting that with its wealth, the affluent House could call upon more men via the contract of hireswords. To estimate how many, however, is impossible, as mercenary companies vary wildly in price depending upon which job they're hired for.
Fleet:
House Velaryon's power has always been at sea, long before Aegon ever marched his men upon the mainland. The lords of Driftmark did not forget this as they rose to prominence once again. Fielding perhaps the largest singular navy in Westeros, House Velaryon's vessels number precisely three hundred and four warships strong.
In times of peace, however, only around one hundred and twenty are actively used. These vessels, mostly quicker ships, serve to patrol the trade routes which pass up and down the narrow sea, guarding Driftmark's trade assets from would-be pirates and sellsails while her larger war vessels find storage at harbor. Her ships are crewed by men of the waves, boasting some of the finest sailors in Westeros, skills kept sharp by skirmishes with cutthroats and routine sailing.
Additionally, Driftmark possesses several hundred trading ships who rarely remain at port for long. The merchants of the isle sail from Norvos to the Jade Sea and anything in between, bringing back anything one could imagine to be sold and exported to main land Westeros or the Free cities themselves for a tidy profit.

Recent History:
Name: Lucarys Velaryon
Age: 46
Seat: High Tide
Heir: Laenar Velaryon (Son)
Personality: Lucarys is a man of sharp wits and kind words, whose dangerous capabilities are balanced by a good nature. Naturally gregarious, the lord of Driftmark is the kind of man to happily strike up a conversation with a total stranger if only to have the pleasure of meeting somebody new. His tongue is as silver as his coffers, his mastery or word play allowing him to deftly navigate social situations and sooth and flatter his way into the good graces and perhaps pockets of those around him.
This skill with diplomacy is especially dangerous when paired with his love for accounting. Having grown among merchants and wealthy patrons, his astitute mind quickly adapted to managing sums and assuring every gold dragon, silver stag and copper star was accounted for and invested in the most ideal way possible. It was, perhaps, from handling such matters for so long which inspired a certain lust within him. Not greed, as one may expect, but a thirst for finery and affluence. He dresses himself in the finest silks, drinks the most delectable wines and presents his family with the most exotic of trinkets.
