How is he stuck in the Mortal Realm if he has easy access to a Hell Gate?
Also keep in mind Hell Gates are so hard to do, getting one open was the antagonist goal in DMC3 and DMC4.
He was stuck for a time because he took such a beating he was weakened/ lacked the resources to do one. He no longer is stuck, but decided pizza and videogames are far more amusing than acting like a demonic jerk.

Name/Alias: Balam Jr. (Hell Magus)
Appearance: Like so. Worth noting that while a full demon, his overall apperance is very human-like, with very few demonic features save black-tipped claws and dark leathery wings (both of those can be retracted should he wish to).
Biography: The brilliant spawn of a rather famous demon magician, Balam the Arcane Ruin, Balam Jr struggled to find name and fame on the demon world, always seen as more or less a rather disposable pawn-slash-extension of his parent demon. He didn't have much choice in the matter, really. Obey or die, that was pretty much the prerrogative as far as it was concerned. He was tired of it, and he devised a way to open a Hell Gate and cross to ravage the human world.
The young demon was fully convinced that his stunt would give him enough fame and leverage to be at least marginally respected. He also was completely unaware that he would be made to bite the curb in the most humilliating manner possible. (Dante may have been or not have been involved). He was lucky to escape with his life, but he was so weakened he couldn't produce a Hell Gate again to escape back to his world. So he was stuck in the mortal world for a while.
Best. Exile. EVER.
Videogames. Comics. Pizza. Internet. TV. Pizza. Ice cream. Cars. Did I mention Pizza? But um, anyway, Balam was completely enthralled by the humans' ingenuity and lifestyle (specially pepperoni on the pizza). Before he knew, he was gleefully switching sides, and becoming a hunter of his kin. That Moloch and his cronies would no doubt ruin his fun and his pizzas.
Devil Arms: Besides his claws, there isn't much in the way of melee weapons he can use.
Firearms: Balam compensates also the lack of a fireweapon with the ability to fling spells at a distance.
Skills/Abilities:
-Demonic Traits: Duh. He's stronger, faster and way more durable than (normal) mortal fleshbags, that much is certain. He also posseses a regeneration factor and he's immortal. However, he also shares the demonic weaknesses such as certain rituals and holy stuff.
-Flight: He has wings. He can do this.
-Sorcery: He's an accomplished demonic sorcerer, and knows a lot about the occult.
-DIY Hell Gate: A cozy spell he has access, he can allow a single person-passage from and to the Demon-World. He could push it and allow several people at once, but the gate remains pitifully small.
-Arcane Arts-Hail: His basic attack spell. He launches a stream of ice flechettes at the objective. Not very damaging, but the rate of fire is pretty solid.
-Arcane Arts-Lightning spear: His advanced attack spell. It has a moderate cooldown, and affects a single target. It is a damaging lightning attack capable of piercing armor.
-Arcane Arts-Fireball: Area of Effect Spell. Slow Cooldown, and highly damaging due to the hellfire. For when big booms are needed.
-Arcane Arts-Mending: A healing spell. It mends the flesh. Comes in handy. Sometimes.
Other: Feel free to abuse him.

Barbiru stretched, his muscles and sinews cracking from the cold sleep. He shivered slightly, the cold mists of the cryostasis still circling around his feet. His half asleep eyes twitched and scanned his surroundings. Cold metal walls, and the humming of the ship's systems. So, they were being woken up. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary and no alarms flashed.
That seemed like a good thing.
The short Saiyan leapt out of his pod, still undressed and in the buff, and reaching with his hand, he nimbly snatched one of the diagnosis panels in the wall. The system was running fine, which was -quite- surprising. He had half a thought of the old Tuffle junk never taking off, or worse yet, exploding and killing everyone on startup, himself included. That would be no good.
Well that was why he was even there, was it? He eyed the sigil that was imprinted on his capsule. A wrench. He was the wrench monkey. Which was understandeable. He was... a less than stellar elite saiyan. And the only reason one could consider his presence on the mission was the fact that no matter the power level, one could not just simply punch space to allow intergalactic travel. One needed to be able to repair and make devices. The one thing he excelled at. He scratched his broom-hair, as messages flicked through the screens.
"Well, so far so good, but module 588-DF seems a bit dodgy. Better check that out soon." He added to himself, focused so he even forgot to dress, his eyes peering at the screen.
