Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

Sooo, should I wait out for the plot moving event or should I post now?

If you want to put up a new post before the plot moving post, go for it. You'll have to do it before the next hour mark though, as I am working on plot post now. Waiting would probably be safest unless your sitting on a finished post, asking for permission to post it.
@quietkid13
Sorry I didn't post when I said I would. That was a very tiring day. I did throw in a small post in order to move on from my dead end conversation. You can engage my character whenever you like now.

@RoccanIronclad
I didn't mean to announce that your Black Crystal Ring was available. I simply forgot to update the 0th OOC post after approving of your character. Also, I didn't try to engage your character in my last post just in case you're not ready to do so. But if you are, feel free to approach Lester.

Alright everyone! After at least two more people post IC, there will be a large plot moving event. This is the great storm mentioned in the IC thread. It is approaching quickly and with little warning.

As for an update on ring availability. Any new people that want to apply to this RP have 4 rings to chose from. The Red Stone Ring, the Blue Stone Ring, the Green Stone Ring, and the White Crystal Ring. Feel free to comment OOC or PM me directly if you are interested.
Lester's attempts at retrieving his money had fallen through. After only a short conversation, the lady had ran off. With a deep sigh, Lester decided to chalk that one up to a loss. "It's okay." He told himself. "Some people don't tip. Some people steal money. They all have an especially warm place waiting for them in their future."

@RoccanIronclad
Lester had almost completely forgotten about the white haired man that had apparently moved closer in order ease drop. In one deep breath he thought though his options. He could try and engage the man in conversation to find out why he was listening in. Or he could just move on; if the man wanted to talk, surely he would have said something by now.

Going with this second assumption, Lester turned and began to walk back toward the tavern. Now more than ever, he needed a job. It had been a while since he was completely without money. The only thing of value he owned at this point was his violet ring. And judging by his conversation with the thief, it could be even more valuable than he imagined.
Caitlyn fell off the grid. I'll post again as Lester tonight to break away from that interaction. Feel free to interact with Lester after that.

Thanks!
Because of implementing a new inventory system, everyone's starting items and abilities are still being edited. In your favor for practically every case. Weapons are being valued as stronger and such. I will let everyone know exactly when I am done, but until then, here is a link to the document that I control:

docs.google.com/document/d/1gmMbVIkxK…

This is where I am working on everyone's items/abilities, and this is what I'll use to keep up with your stats during our IC adventures.

I'm also working on updating the balancing system that rush99999 and I have been discussing. Here's the link to that:

docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16jGX2…

All in all, I'll probably need a week or two to solidify and then simplify everything. My goal is to make all the game mechanics of this table top RP interesting and intuitive. Thank you for being patient.

Thanks!!
@Project

I got you mate! No worries. Your character sheet is welcome to stay, just in case you ever wish to return.
Alrighty Everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well. I've been a busy fellow IRL. We all know how that goes. I would like to remind everyone however that there is a "Stay Active" rule in place that states:

"Whenever someone doesn't post to the RP for two weeks straight, I will reopen this RP to new applicants. If someone applies before the inactive member makes another post, the inactive member's character will loose his/her ring to the newcomer."

This should not be hard, as all it takes is a simple, "Hey, I'm still here!" message in the OOC section. Most everyone is posting steadily, or at least can be reached. I do however have one person that has fallen off the grid. According her profile @Game Maker has not been on the site in 15 days (as of the time I'm writing this message). Unfortunately, I'm going to have to enforce this rule now. Therefore the Green stone ring is now up for grabs.

This makes three rings that are open to new players. The Green Stone Ring. The Red Stone Ring. And the Black Crystal Ring. For any new players that are reading this. Feel free to ask questions here in the OOC and build a character sheet for one of these rings if you would like.

This does brings up a dilemma. How can the same "ring" be in two people's character sheet (the inactive user and the new user's)? This is the solution: Over time, the Ten Rings have been copied. Copies are almost always useless, but when done correctly and with enough luck, they can still wield power similar to the original. Unfortunately, these copies are very volatile. If the original ring or another copy of that ring is successfully activated, the copy will deactivate and the fake stone/crystal will shatter.

Tada! Dilemma solved! So if anyone new wants to join, speak up now! There is also the possibility that I will allow an already active member to get a hold of a second ring, (If you're willing to take on that challenge). Priority will be given to new comers.

Thanks!
@rush99999

Sorry. I don't agree with you this time. While your logic is sound, mine is not totally flawed and serves a gaming purpose. That purpose is so that lone wolves or anyone outside of a current party don't get totally left in the dust.

You're not just lifting heavy things. You're fighting baddies and solving tasks that require skill. Someone has to take lead in any situation. For instance, someone would do the majority of the talking in a non battle situation or deal the most decisive blow in battle. I admit a half cut in stats is a bit dramatic, but it's also easy math.

If you come up with something that serves a similar function BESIDES, "Just make all quests consistently harder so that teaming up is the only realistic choice.", I am happy to listen. Otherwise this is the balancing system we're using for now.

Also, I'll need you to get the support of others behind your proposal, unless I absolutely love it myself.

Thanks.
I have came up with a new system that will allow for people to team up on any dice roll situations (unless the specific situation will not allow it). This new system is meant to provide a little bit of balancing for lone wolf characters, while at the same time realistic giving the advantage to coordinated efforts.

You can find this change in the "The Dice" section of the 0th post. It's actually been up for quite a while but I haven't pointed it out till just now.

Year 800 - Feb 11th - Mid Afternoon

The skies were especially dreary, but not enough to cause alarm. Children played in the streets, while adults toiled away to earn a living. Beggars searched for food; elites planned their parties. At the end of the day, families would rest their eyes and drunks would leave the pub. It would be just another day. Nothing special was going to happen. Or so the ignorant people believed...

Little did anyone know, just beyond the horizon, a storm of epic proportions was approaching uncharacteristically fast. It was destroying entire towns in mere hours. Survivors were being left in shambles, staring at years of hard work, gone in mere instants, lives changed forever.

Our tale begins in a special village. Yes they would recount the destruction of the the horrible storm. But among these recollections are stories unique only to this particular village. For never in history had all ten of the "Legendary Rings of Power" been conveniently gathered in one place. Stories spoke of witches, demons, angels, and more. We now believe that these stories were actually first hand accounts of those that saw a "Ring of Power" at work.

But lets not get too ahead of ourselves. The leading men and women of our tale did not hear of this storm right away. Like all other villages before them, there would be no time for warning. When the storm would hit, everything would be thrown to chaos. Until then, it was business as usual.

Note #1: A link to this post now lives in the 0th IC post.
