Bio

I am a Roleplayer with an interest in science fiction and fantasy, with a preference for Casual. I have been roleplaying for several years, and have even taken a stab at running a few RPs.

Outside the Guild, I am an Australian science student, gamer, musician and roleplayer (that's right, IRL too).

@Jarl Coolgruuf To add to what Termite has said, don't be afraid to revise/reinvent/rewrite a character. I find that my second character ideas tend to be better than my first ones.
I'm kinda depressed that I killed off Shaqmar and Layla and am kinda torn. A part of me wants to backtrack and make that epilogue (or at least the last paragraph) a dream...

To those who have gotten round to reading it, what do you think? Should I do it? Or should I just leave it?

I'd say leave it be. It was a well-written tragedy.

The blindfolds give them a Heads Up Display.

Ah, makes sense now. Thanks.
@Antarctic Termite, for someone who knows virtually nothing about Nier: Automata, I have one question which has been bugging me: Why are they blindfolded? (And, as a corollary: How do they see?)

P.S. - kho will not be making any progress for a month and 7 days

Edit:

'He has adopted Keriss (without her permission) since both Vulamera and Mardox died.' - Vestec's wiki page

I mean, Mardox

I've just fixed that for him.
You know, I've been paranoid about that last Conata post for a while. There are a few missteps in it, sure, but something bigger was bugging me.

I've finally realised it.

I didn't actually have her get properly injured in that fight. She really should have been injured.

I guess I'll try and patch up that plot hole in a future post >_>

Conata received a big punch to the gut at one point, which might have left some damage. She received many scratches, too.

Although, Conata is a demigoddess made of solid metal and built by Teknall, so she is effectively indestructible. Proper injuries would be rather difficult to obtain.

@Rtron, If Vestec attempts to adopt Conata, Teknall will be rightly annoyed. Not that that will stop Vestec.
But before I give up...I also had another thought! Many creatures have a cluster of blood vessels around the nasal cavity as a means to cool down, right? Well, hain beaks have a lot of extra space in them. Maybe they have a larger version of that cavity than normal so it can provide better cooling?

Wow, am I thinking about this too hard. This is a mistake.

Ah, yes, nasal cavities. Hain have plenty of space for those.

I had another idea for hain cooling. Hain probably have a few joints and stuff where the soft flesh is relatively exposed. These would be good places to put dense networks of blood vessels near the surface to allow for extra cooling. Cooling would be driven by sweat glands and/or manually licking the skin (like kangaroos do for their elbows).
@Antarctic Termite Clothes on urtelem could be interesting, and is somewhat feasible. Only tricky bit is when they roll up to roll around, or burrow through the ground, although blankets make sense. With their interactions with other civilisations, urtelem probably have access to textiles, and have probably tried wearing those sheets of textiles.

Structures on their backs would not be permanent. Urtelem seem like sturdy foundations, but they'd be pretty earthquake prone. Structures will be fine when upright, but will collapse if they roll over or anything like that. However, stability issues notwithstanding, this actually fits in well with the migratory nature of the urtelem. Should they ever have need for buildings, urtelem can carry the buildings around with them while migrating.

These will need to be explored IC.

@Muttonhawk While I'm no biologist, panting should be adequate for providing a hain's cooling needs. It works as a primary cooling mechanism for most animals (humans are a notable exception, who use sweating as a primary cooling mechanism). This has the drawback that hain would not be able to run long distances without stopping to pant every so often, but this is a minor drawback.

What I haven't wrapped my head around is how a hain's internal organs are supported for a creature that size without an endoskeleton, or how their muscular system is wired. There's probably a plausible explanation; I just don't know it.

@WrongEndoftheRainbow Dwarves follow a basically human physiology with greatly enhanced ability to metabolise ethanol (which is a brilliant source of energy if you can metabolise it fast enough). I see no issue.
*cackles* They said it couldn't be done... but I FUCKING DID IT. WITH A LASER WELDER!!! Take that you old fashion loonies! Pic of my masterpiece to follow... in the meantime.

That sounds exactly like something Teknall would do. Don't have the right tools to make something? Jump ahead a dozen technology levels so that you do.

Re: alignment. You raise some very good points. I agree. It becomes a bit of a big-picture vs individual-scale thing. And I acknowledge that alignment grids drastically oversimplify characters.

O.O
I wasn't aware you had started killing Kyre.
Rip timelines, everything I know about events are all chronologically messed up now.
